Two night stay

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel but had two small criticisms. Firstly, the single room was particularly small which restricted movement with my case on the rack. Secondly, the breakfast was good but it would be improved by replacing the current watery orange juice with something akin to the genuine article.

Excellent accommodation within walking distance of Victoria Station

My daughter and I stayed here for one night while in London. We were given a very friendly, personal welcome by the owner and treated to a glass of champagne and chocolate cake as it was the hotel's 25th anniversary. The weather was extremely cold but the room was very cosy, the bathroom though small was extremely clean with lots of shampoo, shower gel etc of a high standard. The breakfast next morning was beautiful, being cooked fresh and not at all greasy. The room had twin beds and was spacious with good storage. All in all a very comfortable, clean friendly, welcoming place to stay.

London leisure

All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom was in need of a refurb and the shower was not the most powerful. The breakfast was good, but dinner not so good. It's a fair walk from any tube station. Having said all that, we would stay again.

21st birthday weekend away

We upgraded our room to the superior double as it was a special occasion. we arrived early on the Saturday morning and there was no problem leaving our luggage at the hotel so that we didnt have to drag it around London with us. When we got back to the hotel that evening, the customer service was great, no complaints there.
The only few issues we had was a couple of things could do with being replaced - the shower head looked very old and could do with being updated, and there were a few tiles that were cracked and the toilet handle was chipped - all minor things but would make the room that bit more perfect.
The hotel was very well located - only 10 minutes walk to Victoria train & underground station or £5 in a taxi.
The breakfast which was included in the price was brilliant, there was continental breakfast as well as hot food if you wanted it.
Would stay here again :)

I'll be back

After my first visit to the Windermere, I'll definitely be coming back when I next stay in London. I chose it for its combination of high ratings, which are well deserved, and a competitive price.
Friendly customer service from the moment I arrived. A very clean and tidy room. High quality bathroom fittings (Matki shower screen; Laufen sink and WC). The only drawback to the room was that I had to move the desk to access the plug socket for my phone charger. The standard of breakfast was very good in the morning.
The room is ideally located for Victoria, but is also a short taxi ride from the West End, making it suitable for a whole range of people.
Wish there were more hotels like this around. Many thanks.

A nice little hotel with friendly staff

This is a very welcoming hotel with what seemed like a small and friendly staff who provide a warm welcome. Although the dining room is a little small, the breakfast that I enjoyed was excellent. The location is just about the limit of walking distance from Leicester Square and the theatres but on a god day you can have a lovely stroll past Buckingham Pallace, down the Mall and under admiralty arch it you're heading into town.

Excellent Service and very warm welcome

We stayed at the Windermere Hotel for two nights, one before our trip to Venice and one on our return. The service we received was excellent with the owners and all members of staff being friendly, helpful, polite and interested in us. The hotel was very clean and welcoming and the rooms, although not big, were ample for our needs. The only food we had was breakfast, but this was good, although the breakfast room itself is a little small and we, therefore, had to wait for a table on the first morning. The hotel is prefectly situated for Victoria station and the city. Both stays were totally stress free and we would definitely return.

LOVELY ROOM

Hotel is being refurbished and our room had been finished just as we arrived. The room was lovely but was on the 5th floor and there is no lift at the moment. However, staff were very helpful in bringing our luggage up and down (we were 2 women). We went for the royal wedding and asked for an early morning call (5.00 am) with breakfast. The breakfast was absolutely superb - fit for a queen and again staff very helpful.

Not a 4star hotel. Threadbear carpets, dust, dust, dust, cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, very small shower enclosure, with a hard plastic shower back, not tiled, mouldy. The hotel is undergoing major works at the moment, not mentioned when booking. A lot of noise during the day, kango drills, banging, so unable to stay in our room between the hours of 9-4. However all the staff were very friendly, and a good breakfast was available.

Not the height of luxury

I can't fault the immaculate service. I was also impressed by the nice breakfast. BUT, my LUXURY double was a ground floor room with windows onto a main road. The decor was not luxurious although I concede there were nice tiles in the bathroom. I call it a bathroom but it was more of a cupboard and you could not stand at the basin with the door open because there was not enough room.
I can see why Visit Britain gives it 4* because they seem to be making a real effort to rise above the standard of many other hotels in the area, but if you think you will get a swanky room by paying a little extra you will be sorely disappointed.
Nice people, so I hope the building work (which left me in the dark when I woke in morning) turns out well and they can generate the style to which they aspire and which would match the excellent service.

Excellent hotel for City Break weekend

Nicely located for attractions around Victoria. Easy walking distance to station, coach station and several TfL Cycle Hire locations. Double en-suite room was small but clean and well appointed. Staff were very helpful and the PC in the dining room was useful when doing a bit of extra trip planning whilst there. Breakfast was fine with a good selection for the continental breakfast, though the cooked breakfast (whilst nice) did seem a bit small. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

OK as long as you don't need to leave too eraly in the morning!

Room (LG2) was OK as a base for shopping and the England vs France match at Wembley which was all I needed it for. But I was very disappointed that breakfast isn't serverd until 7:30am though. I specifically booked here because it had a Full English on offer but as I needed to be on a train by 7:15 I had to miss out. I was offered a croissant but it's not the same as sausage, bacon eggs, beans, and toast is it?
