Ideal for Waterloo and South Bank

The place has no great pretensions but is ideally placed for the South Bank Centre and Waterloo station and offers a friendly welcome and decent value. The room was small but adequate- the bathroom fittings better/newer than I was expecting. Earplugs provided, for those who might be disturbed by the railway, which is v close. Good breakfast.

Excellent for value

It was excellent value for money and would stay here again. Lovely pub and great food. We stayed at a 4* the 2nd night and the food was not nearly as good. Central location. Great value for money.

Quick trip

Great little hotel for a short trip. Entrance is through a busy pub, and hotel is situated between two railway bridges ( the photo rather cleverly masks its odd location) but don't be put off by this. It is rather quiet given where it is. Good easy access to south bank sites and not far at a ll from other city centre locations. Perfect for a short stay.

Courteous, Satisfactory although Unremarkable Accommodation

Stayed one night whilst on business. I normally stay in the Canary Wharf area but wanted to be somewhere closer to the West End to see a show. At a discounted tariff of £100, it was a similar price as the hotels and apartments I normally stay in. At the Wellington you are paying for the location which is superb for the South Bank and West End, and with good connections with tube and mainline stations immediately opposite. My second floor room faced onto Waterloo Road. The room was small, the decor a little tired, and as you would expect being next to a railway viaduct and main road, noisy. This was not helped by one of the windows mechanisms being broken which reduced the effectiveness of the double glazing. There was no noise breakout at all from the bar area. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast well cooked. In short, you get what you pay for in central London and at £100 it was OK. The staff were charming. I have no complaints but I would not choose to stay again.

It's a pub rather than a hotel with the advantages and disadvantages that brings. The staff were very helpful, particularly in resloving an initial problem.
Breakfast was hit and miss, the food that arrived bearing only a passing resemblance to what had been ordered. Tea, kept in a flask, was lukewarm.
However, location is brilliant and overall it was good place to stay.

Brilliant location

This hotel is right opposite the main entrance to Waterloo station. Although very close to the railway, the trains didn't keep me awake.

Sightseeing Weekend

Although from the outside the Wellington looked like many other pubs, on entering we were impressed with the decor and charm. Situated right outside Waterloo station, it is ideally placed for public transport and within easy walking distance of the South Bank and the Jubilee footbridge to reach the city. Our room, although small, was warm, clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate as a base at night. Despite being so close to the railway and the provision of earplugs by the hotel, (which we did not need to use), the noise was no more than would be expected in London, and did not stop us sleeping soundly. The bathroom was clean, the water hot and the towels large. The breakfast was excellent, with fast and friendly service.

Excellent location for theatres and Covent Garden

I chose this hotel as it was close to the Waterloo theatere. I would not strictly calll this a hotel as it is a pub.,which has rooms to let. Having said that theroom was very comfortable and clean, although it was a little dark. The bathroom was clean but a little small again. We had a room at the front, which was a concern due to the traffic noise outside, but the ear plugs whcih the hotel kindly provide were not required!
