The TV was very limited 4channels and set low down not easy to view. The bathroom fittings were very dated and once again old and tired . Having said that the linen was impecably clean. The boiler broke down and we had no hot water. They somewhat reluctantly gave us a 10% discount. It was very hard getting information, eg TV didn't work, we needed an iron, no hot water, and we had to ring 2-3 times on each occasion to get updated information. They never rang us back as promised.

I regularly stay in London for business and struggle to find decent accomodation centrally for a reasonable (for anyone outside London!) price. From experience, I never expect much in terms of customer service from anything that is under £100 a night. This has been the exception - the staff are extremely professional and go out of their way to help you - I have dealt with at least 4 at the reception desk. The rooms are nothing special but are clean and well-kept. The hotel is being renovated, though, and you can hardly beat the value for money for this central location.

I noted other comments before booking. I was given a room on the 1st floor, and i have to say i was delighted with it. New bed, good size LCD TV (although they need to sort some of the channels out), lovely bathroom with granite worktops. Water provided. The room was very warm, butit did have aircon, and no view, but then I wasn't bothered about that. Works are still prgressing (March 2010) so don't expect a long quiet lie-in during the week. I had early starts so not a problem for me. Well located, you can walk from Euston, and handy for central West End.

For £100 i wasn't expecting too much from a central london Hotel. It was certainly well located for the covent garden area and west end. The room itself was small with a single bed pushed up against the wall. Fortunately the bed was quite comfortable. The decor was fairly delapidated with some peeling paint and the carpet did have a few hairs on it. The heating was not entirely functional - the bathroom radiator was fixed on and so the bathroom was very warm, whilst the room's radiator was shut off. I guess i could have asked for the staff to alter this but a fairly cool room is pleasant. The room overlooked the street but the double glazing was reasonably effective in combatting the noise. The hotel does have a bar and but the food is essentially pub food and i didn't trouble myself by eating there. So overall, for a one night stay the location was useful and it was the cheapest i could find. However, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a romantic trip away.

I stayed for two nights in March with my two daughters. We are all Londoners but decided to have a short break in the West End and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves taking in a show and The Sanctuary. The rooms were very clean, especially the en suites which I could not fault except to say it was impossible to work the shower. However, the bath filled up very quickly so that was not a problem. Breakfast was also good and plentiful and the reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Having booked a 'small single room', I was actually given an OK sized double which had obviously been recently renovated. It was clean and well presented. Breakfast was included, and was of a good standard. For a central location, at a good price - It was a good stay.

The Waverley House is not very English, even if service and facilities are fair and businesslike. This is due to a refurbishment programme now under way (but, at present, affecting Ground to 2nd floors only - no noise).

Light levels in room rather low even when all lights/lamps on (but this has been the case in every hotel I have stayed in recently). Let down by food available for dinner - only has 'Bistro' with food more like pub than hotel food. Had the fish and chips - flabby batter was most unpleasant but chips and peas ok. Breakfast good. Very friendly establishment and service is excellent. Whilst booking in, a customer reported his radiator wouldn't turn down. Enter Carlos and his spanner. Five minutes later, Carlos was back downstairs having effected an immediate repair. Nothing is too much here. It may be a little old-fashioned and certainly not cutting edge but it more than makes up for all that. The food is good and the rooms a fair size even the singles. You even get a bottle of water and biscuits to go with the usual coffee and tea. The location is excellent if you want to walk down to Leicester Square but if you want to stay put, eating in is good or there's a decent pub 100 yards further North. I've put it on my short list for all London stays.

We arrived at 10:30am and , of course , our room was not ready but we were impressed how hard the receptionist tried to find another room. This created a very positive first impression as did the attentive concierge. Typically we visit London 3or 4 times a year and for more than 20 years have stayed at an hotel which is five minutes closer to Euston Station, larger and significantly cheaper. We left our booking late and our usual hotel was , for the first time in our experience , full . So we used laterooms and 'found ' the Waverley House. Compared with our usual hotel the WH was smaller scale and more friendly. The breakfast was superior at WH and the staff very helpful. Value for money is, however, important to us and although we enjoyed our stay at WH we may not be able to afford to stay there quite so regularly as we have at our 'normal' hotel. The latter amazingly given the fact that we have stayed there so often does not seem to have us on their mailing list etc. If the WH has 'special offers', discounts for frequent users and so on then we would be inclined to stay there again.

A single room with a extractor fan that wouldn't turn off with a bed that squeaked like it was supported by a thousand rusty springs. The Waverley does try, the customer service was great and efficient and the breakfast was enjoyable. I think it's simply the face that the rooms are quite tired, (or my particular room) the carpet in the public corridors wrinkled and there's an odour 'de la otel' which is a bit stronger than normal (how do hotels do that?).Having said all that I did stay an extra night, but mainly out of convenience.

My single room with single bed was quite small but what do you expect in London for the price these days. The en - suite was of a high standard with a nice roomy shower. The room was very clean and although I was looking out onto the main street outside the hotel, there was no road noise through the double glazed window. My main complaints were:-I had trouble getting into the room (205) on several occasions with several changes of plastic key. The staff came to help me out on 2 occasions and got me in but it was still a bit of an inconvenience. The concierge said he would report a problem with the lock to maintenance and it would be fixed but on my return at the end of the day, I still had problems getting in.Also, I found the room to be stuffy. I found that I needed to leave the air conditioning running at the lowest possible temperature to be able to get to sleep but it only seemed to push air around the room. I tried opening the window late at night before going to bed but the road noise was too much. All in all, a pleasant enough hotel and decent value for the room rate but it was a pity about the niggles. maybe I was just unlucky.

Arrived late, but this was no problem. Room was basic. Twin uncomfortable beds (I tried them both). Breakfast was fantastic. Overall pretty good value for money considering the location. Would go back if travelling alone on business. Not a place to take the wife for a weekend away though.

The room was nothing special but, was clean and had air con. The hotel is starting to look a little tired but, don't get me wrong, it isn't bad and it is good value for central London. The hotel bar is much like a pub, has big screen TV for sport and is open to the public.
