My partner & I stayed at the Washington Mayfair on Saturday 7th May and enjoyed the visit very much.
It's very easy to criticise hotels, even more so when you are paying a premium to stay in Mayfair so in all honesty wasn't expecting 5* Luxury, but I have to say, I got more than I paid for.
On arrival I was greeted in a very professional and confident manor by reception so first impressions were very good. Having managed to get a great deal on a standard room through LateRooms, I did something which I normally wouldn’t do and asked for the cost of an upgrade, if one was available, and was suddenly provided with an executive room at no extra cost which I though was an extremely kind and generous gesture by the manager.
The room was excellent. It was a big room with a huge bed, nice furniture and seating. The bathroom was lovely with more than you could need. Flannels are always a good sign of a nice hotel and together with the creams, and an excellent powerful shower it was hard to fault. My partner was also extremely impressed.
If I was to be critical, there were a few minor, (and I mean minor) issues;
* Some of the TV channels were snowy and some radio channels did not work
* There was no plastic shower mat
* The 7th floor landing was like a furnace and so was the room. The air con cooled it down but was very noisy
* In some communal places, the hotel could do with a touch up of paint (i.e. outside 7th floor lift)
* The bar didn't have a great selection of wine, or a wine list.
Please don’t get me wrong, these are minor things that reception was very happy to deal with and my overall experience was excellent. I would be more than happy to return and would recommend it to friends.
