A warm welcome

We had booked the hotel to use as a base before our overnight marathon Moonwalk on May 12th, raising funds for breast cancer research. We wanted to have somewhere warm and comfortable to come back to in the morning so we could have hot baths and rest before going home.
The reception staff were very warm and welcoming and very kindly accommodated our request for a late check-out - as we wouldn't be getting back to our room until 8am. We were upgraded to a Superior King room which was lovely and certainly helped us to recover from the walk.

Room was clean and tidy but can't help thinking that I could have had the same experience at a cheaper hotel. This stay was part of a theatre experience for my wife and when I booked the hotel I thought it was going to be something extra special but I have been to Premier Inn's that offer the same size room and are just as clean. Not really worth the money.

Satifactory accommodation in good locality

Good hotel, well located for Central London, access to Underground etc. Had difficulty finding room - no signage for rooms beyond 230!!!
Breakfast quite pricey for what was on offer and plates and food should have been much warmer.

Overall a nice hotel, clean, well-run and a great location of course. Only slight moans are that rooms are on the small size for anything but a short stay and that tea/coffee provision is miserly.

Sister's birthday treat

Chose Washington because we are familiar with Mayfair, being in walking distance to everything we wanted to do. Room not ready until 3pm which was a bore. Room comfortable but far too hot. Could do with a mirror over desk, as hairdryer can't be used in bathroom. No coat hook on door and not enough space (length) to hang up coats or dress/skirt in wardrobe. Minor details which, if rectified, would certyainly make the stay more comfortable.

Great position but lacking character?

Excellent position ,upgraded as my birthday which was very nice! (to an exec room) recently refurbed but bathroom hadn't been, which was dissappointing. Whole hotel was very hot we turned heating off and had window open all day(waste of resources?) .Bar/ lounge lacked atmosphere.Rooms had door bells which were extremely loud when pressed I presume for room service at other rooms on our floor. Not appreciated at all at 1*30 am and 8am.

Perfect

Came here after checking out early from another hotel. Arrived well before check-in time but nothing was a problem for the staff. Professional, courteous and accommodating. The location is perfect - Cafe Nero across the rode, Tesco convenience on the corner and Sushi at your doorstep and a pleasant stroll to central London. What more could you ask for! A fantastic hotel with exceptional staff. Will be back.

Pleasant comfortable hotel off Mayfair.

Have stayed at the Washington twice this year. One week-end on a business trip and another for a theatre trip. Very pleasant stay on both occasions. Staff particularly helpful. Room comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Good wifi connection for my iPad. TV reception rather poor and choice of channels very limited. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant very good. Hotel very well placed for visits to Royal Academy, National Gallery, Buckingham Palace and West-End theatre land. All within comfortable walking distance. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely hotel

We stayed at the Washington for my husband's birthday, and were immediately upgraded to a nicer room, which had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Lovely bathroom, great power shower. The staff were friendly, professional and very eager to help. The buffet breakfast wasn't as good as I'd expected, but that was due to it sitting around for a while as it was a very quiet morning. Great location, in the middle of Mayfair, close to Green Park tube.

After our 4 days in London we were glad to check out of this hotel. Even up until the very end of our stay not one apology from management for all our inconvenience. Would stay there again.

I read a number of negative comments about this hotel; I am happy to say that for my husband and I they were not even close. The staff were pleasant from the moment we arrived, our room was very nicely furnished, immaculately clean, and on the 1st floor which meant that we could use the stairs everyday. The location is one of the best in London for walking, going to Hyde Park, Soho, Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, Oxford and Regent St shopping, and access to the underground and buses. We will definitely stay there again. There is also a convenient Tesco and a coffee shop right across the street, as well as Shepherds market where you can find a variety of restaurants at all price levels. The hotel also offers free interent access and three computer terminals for those people who do not travel with electronic devices. Thank you Washington Mayfair for a very enjoyable stay.

Firstly, they could not find our booking. Secondly, they put us in a room with someone elses suitcase and laptop. No idea if this room was being used or the previous occupant had left them there by mistake. We changed rooms again, only to be given a twin room, when we had booked a queen double. Then we had a third room, which again had twin beds. We gave up and spent all night trying to sleep through the noise of the vent in the ceiling. Managed to change rooms agian for the second night. Only then did we relax. The staff we rude and unhelpful. Never again !

Not a bad price for the area. I was on a course ,so needed a decent place to get my head down.

Lovely staff, friendly and welcoming. Room dark and dismal. No curtains just black-out blinds, bidet repair shoddy and flooring not secure in bathroom. I asked for a twin room which was not ready when we arrived. Site of Hotel excellent for our needs, lots of cafes and bistros nearby. Please ensure other guests are respectful of others in Hotel, we could not get to our room as guests opposite had filled the corridor with paper and rubbish!! It was cleared by the Hotel but more appeared next morning! Just felt we were put in a sub-standard room because we had paid through late rooms.

Nice Hotel but.....

The room was very nicely appointed and clean but a little warm. If you order room service though please don't expect the food to arrive quickly. When ordering room service allow a good hour for food to arrive at your room regardless of the 1/2 hour quoted. Also do not stop outside the hotel for anymore than 2 minutes 55 seconds as you are likely to get a parking ticket.... So get ready to grab those bags and run !!!

The hotel was in a superb location - one block away from Green Park and The Ritz (where we were having tea!). We like to walk as much as possible so the situation was ideal. Fantastic value for money. We were given a room on the top floor at the side and it was very quiet which meant we were able to have the window open and not hear any traffic noise - perfect.

Wonderful hotel with first rate service in the heart of London

As someone who only uses Late Rooms, having looked at lateroom.com feedback for hotels in Central London, I came across the Washington Mayfair in Curzon Street as it had first rate feedback. I was not disappointed, My mum has problems with lifts we were offered accommodation on the 1st floor and the room was wonderful. Furnishings superb and lots of space. Very good TV optional Sky. Carpets clean and plush. Everyone was so helpful the conceigre service is second to none, fantastic, they will assist in any way to make your trip run smoothly. The conceigre staff require a special mention as does the lady who served us Afternoon Tea it was very special and had a lovely ambience. Mr Kumar one of the managers was very helpful and wanted to know his guest were happy and experienced good service which we did. We were visiting London to go to the Chelsea Flower Show and a stay at the Washington Mayfair enhanced this lovely treat. Thank you.

Great Stay, Excellent Staff, Couple of "minor" Issues

My partner & I stayed at the Washington Mayfair on Saturday 7th May and enjoyed the visit very much.
It's very easy to criticise hotels, even more so when you are paying a premium to stay in Mayfair so in all honesty wasn't expecting 5* Luxury, but I have to say, I got more than I paid for.
On arrival I was greeted in a very professional and confident manor by reception so first impressions were very good. Having managed to get a great deal on a standard room through LateRooms, I did something which I normally wouldn’t do and asked for the cost of an upgrade, if one was available, and was suddenly provided with an executive room at no extra cost which I though was an extremely kind and generous gesture by the manager.
The room was excellent. It was a big room with a huge bed, nice furniture and seating. The bathroom was lovely with more than you could need. Flannels are always a good sign of a nice hotel and together with the creams, and an excellent powerful shower it was hard to fault. My partner was also extremely impressed.
If I was to be critical, there were a few minor, (and I mean minor) issues;
* Some of the TV channels were snowy and some radio channels did not work
* There was no plastic shower mat
* The 7th floor landing was like a furnace and so was the room. The air con cooled it down but was very noisy
* In some communal places, the hotel could do with a touch up of paint (i.e. outside 7th floor lift)
* The bar didn't have a great selection of wine, or a wine list.
Please don’t get me wrong, these are minor things that reception was very happy to deal with and my overall experience was excellent. I would be more than happy to return and would recommend it to friends.

Great choice

We live in London and had a night away from the kids - was fun being in Mayfair within walking distance of so many restaurants and shops. The room had been renovated and was lovely. Only negative comments - please provide brighter bedside lighting as the lowly lit lamp was hard to read by, and we had to open the window as the heat from the mirror and towel rails in the bathroom was too much even in winter.

Good but no style

This hotel advertises itself as a cool Arc Deco masterpiece. Not at all. whatever Art Deco there was was hidden and destroyed in the last renovation. The entrance is bland, cheap looking and cramped. The staff are friendly but not trained to the quality of other Mayfair hotels. The rooms however, have had a good renovation and are not bad. Overall this is just a normal hotel in an exceptional part of London.
