I chose the Victoria Inn because it was quoted as being 3 mins from coach station. I got into london at 2.45 am and had to catch a coach from Victoria at 8.30am. The hotel is not as close as it makes out to be, we had to get a taxi there and a taxi the following morning, and everything in the room was perfect for the 7 dwarves ut not for average sized adults. Breakfast was rubbery and very depressing.

Ok, London is very expensive and the two good things that I found in this hotel were 1) location; 2) price.
But in whatever other big Country in Europe (Germany, Italy, France) this would be no 3 stars at all. One star.
Instead, maybe I've been very unlucky with the room (small and not so beautiful).
It's ok if you want to spend one night in the centre and that's all. Just pass-and-go.
I stayed at the Victoria Inn with my boyfriend the second weekend in July. The hotel is a five minute walk from Victoria Station - ideal for us getting to Gatwick and using the tube - and is situated in a lovely, quiet area called Pimlico.
I was apprehensive about staying here after reading a couple of questionable reviews and also just having ideas of grandeur way above my budget! I am very happy to report that this is a clean, quiet, traditional London hotel. Clean comfy beds and lovely cool rooms. Decor a bit dated and an odd bathroom built in (sort of a large cubicle) but we certainly didn't notice these bits when we came back after all day sightseeing and we had a great sleep both nights we stayed.
The breakfast room was a bit rubbish, very small and limited selection and the staff were very weird about letting us take stuff back to our room even though there were no seats available. But, again, you get what you pay for. This was by far the best bargain I saw after scouring lots of hotel sites. 80 per night in central london.
Would definitely recommend for couples weekend, probably not for a really special occassion such as an anniversary. (It was my birthday and the weekend was more about seeing a particular play). Give it a try. I did and certainly didn't regret it.

I was surprised at the comfort provided for the price. I don't usually sleep much while away, especially on the first night, but here I slept well throughout the stay. We also had a 74-year-old and she was happy too.
The only thing I would improve would be a hot breakfast included in the price, worth an increase in the cost.
Handy too, not located far away for the centre of things

Don't get me wrong, this isn't the place I would look to book into for a romantic weekend away.... however I can't fault it for my needs. For 69 (where can you get that price in central London?) my welcome was pleasant, the room, albeit small, was fine and clean. the bathroom is all plastic - however everything was clean and in working order. I used this hotel as a base to get changed for a works event and simply to sleep. I'd definitely look to use this again for this purpose.

And the toilet is the smallest i`ve ever seen. They transform a wardrope into a bathroom, it didn`t have space to take a shower. Its terrible!!!

The Victoria Inn is situated a very manageable ten-minute walk from Pimlico underground station, and about the same distance from Victoria. The reception staff were very friendly and polite and the little I saw of the hotel (reception, corridors and lift) seemed clean, smart and well-maintained.
The room itself (room 25, an en-suite single) was small, as you'd expect, but not ridiculously so. It was tidy and clean with enough storage space and places to put your bits and bobs. The bathroom - one of those tiny, capsule ones - was a bit less impressive, and required a bit of lateral thinking to work out how to turn on the shower. (Clue: there's a small lever on the sink taps that you turn to divert the water to the shower head!) The shower area was, sadly, ridiculously small - anyone of above-average build would struggle to shower comfortably, although there was plenty of hot water.
The room's equipped with a kettle and free coffee/tea. Well, I say 'coffee/tea'... what you get is a tiny plastic bag with one - yes, ONE! - teabag, one sachet of the vilest 'coffee' you can imagine, and a couple of sachets of powdered coffee creamer. Absolutely disgusting! I went out and bought a small jar of coffee and a carton of milk. Come on folks, how hard is it to supply a few sachets of Nescafe and some UHT milk?
The hotel has 24-hour reception and is situated in a pleasant, quiet street - so no need for earplugs, although there's a little noise from occupants of adjacent rooms. Sadly, I wasn't up in time to have breakfast, so I can't comment on the quality of it.
Overall, recommended!

a typlocal 2 star accom for this area in a street among many others, clean and relatively recently decorated in a neo-traditional style, no special facilities but cleam sheets good pillows, ample towels; rooms on the small side (easy to bump into wall mounted tv); no room wifi or internet or minibar, (basic) teamaking facilities. However room ok if not justifying a price that much above the minimum for the area.
However, breakfast a joke, small basement room where people jostle to get a few basic continental breakfast items at a cramped service bar, not a pleasant experience, not looked after at all; in principle you are supposed to be able to have a cooked breakfast for extra but not offered on the spot in practice; disappointing and I won't be coming again!

Management Response
There is a sign displayed at reception which advises guests of the 4.50 extra charge for a full English Breakfast.Although breakfast room is small, the times are such that everyone is able to have breakfast and that people in this weather take the food outside to the patio where we have tables and chairs and is very pleasant.

The hotel is very easy to get to from Pimlico Tube. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist and the lobby area, whilst small was nicely furnished. The lift to the 3rd floor was a bit scary (very small and a bit clunky) but the room was pleasant, clean and with crisp newly made beds. I would not want to spend more than a couple of nights in the hotel but it was ideal for a stop over in London. The breakfast room is too small for the hotel and we gathered our cups and toast and took it outside to the Patio area which again was quite pleasant with the sunshining.

very disappointing. I booked for two friends and myself, and found the rooms to be very small, and the en suite seemed to be an after thought. It was like a porta loo with a partition wall. Some what reminiscent of the Formula un group where the shower cleans itself after you leave. My room got back up from a neighbouring rooms toilet and when I mentioned it I was told that the knew about it and it was a plumbing problem. Don't get me wrong the staff were lovely but unable to assist. I got the rip taken out of me when the "breakfast included" was not the English breakfast my companions were expecting but a piece of toast and/or cereal.

We eventually got into the Hotel - another guest let us in to the foyer. We could not find any staff to book us in to the hotel. We had to find alternative accommodation at that very late hour. Despite our difficulties the Hotel refused to waiver our bill stating that we were a no-show. We clearly weren't.
I rang to complain at 8.15am the following morning then again at 9.00. On both occasions there was no answer - my mobile phone timing out on listening to the ring tone no reply. I got through to a rude receptionist eventually at 11.00. Rooms very small, as is common in London. First room I was given had a door to an adjoining room which seemed paper thin as I could hear every word the family on the other side of the door said -- as if they were sitting in my room. I asked if another room was available that might be quieter and management graciously moved me. However, the second room (although very quiet) had an extremely strong odor coming out of the tiny bathroom and I had to keep the door closed throughout. I had a basement room facing on to the street. The lack of window lock was a concern. The bathroom window had a small pane completely missing which made the whole room cold drafty. The fixtures and fitting were all a bit tired and looked like a 1980's travel lodge. Marks on the carpet etc, worn and grubbby varnish on woodwork. The linen was clean and generally it looked like the room had been cleaned that day but even so it all still felt grubby. The shower was hot, then cold, then hot and so on depending on what other people in the building were doing. It did seem a bit "Fawlty Towers" having to constantly change the tap setting. Maybe the fact nobody asked me if i was happy with my stay is an interesting point.
Having said all the above, i did only pay 50 for the night, which is frankly very cheap for London. It is maybe unfair to expect more for so little. It is just outside the congestion charging zone, and i actually got street parking outside the hotel. The pimlico underground station is close, and if you like walking you can get to the river and things like the london eye in about 20 to 30 minutes.
All in all you get what you pay for at this hotel, but they could easily improve things with a little maintenance. The reception staff were nice enough, so it is just down to the fixtures and fittings being tired or out dated (they really need thermostatically controlled showers).
In future i'd actually pay an extra 20 or 30 somewhere else, and not go back here. Sorry Victoria Inn, but you really could do with updating your establishment, maybe ask customers what they think then you could improve?
