To be honest I wasn't expecting much from the hotel... I'd packed extra layers to sleep in at night in case it got cold, ear plugs in case it was noisy, and an eye mask in case it had thin curtains that let the light through. I needed none of these - the heating was always on and made the room toasty, the location was quiet and the windows thick enough to mask most street/traffic noises in the morning, and there were net blinds covered by thick long curtains.
The two males on Reception were very friendly, one kindly offered to carry my heavy roller-case up all the stairs for me (I don't think there's a lift, in case you have difficulties with stairs).
You have to leave your key at Reception when you go out, but I guess this is to save having to replace lost ones.
The room was just what I needed, the bed was a bit hard but that comes down to personal preference I think. The TV had channels 1-5, it was a small TV but I wasn't there to spend much time relaxing in my room.
There were plenty of hangers in the wardrobe for me - usually I find there are never enough! There's a safe in the wardrobe too but I didn't use this.
The bathroom was clean, and towels were provided - 2 large and 2 small with one to stand on when you get out of the shower. There was sufficient hot water - also a pleasant surprise as I'd heard stories of 'budget' hotels running out!
I called reception for the wi-fi code and logged on... it was fast and consistent, I was imagining it would be like dial-up!
I had breakfast on my second morning, just a regular continental where you can request tea/coffee and toast/croissant, with a small selection of cereals and fruit. It wasn't an outstanding selection but it did the job, and when my croissants (I got 2!) arrived they'd been heated nicely.
Honestly, I was really surprised and pleased with the standards of my stay. Good job!
