I got a call from the Hotel the morning of our stay telling me about a mains water problem - we may have to stay at their sister hotel. When we arrived a taxi took us to their sister hotel the mayflower. We had booked twenty nevern square because of its proximity to the tube stop to get the heathrow, but instead we were taken to Bayswater. We were well looked after but not given anything in the way of compensation for this inconvenience. The mayflower is a nice hotel, and our room was beautiful, but we were on the ground floor and got a lot of noise from the sitting room / reception late at night.

I booked a luxuary double room and when I arrived they upgraded me to the Pasha Suite - normally about £200! It was gorgeous, sumptious, beautifully designed with a Moroccan feel to the hotel, its intimate, clean ,funky so friendly but also laid back. They just give you bottles of water rather than charging you £10 a pop. I would LOVE to stay here again. Fab location with views over a quiet leafy square but only a minute away from shops and tube, plus their own parking just round the corner! If you prefer cute calm boutique style hotels this is for you!

I don't know how is a standard accomodation in a 4 stars hotel in London, maybe they are like this hotel, but let me say that international 4 stars hotel are much better. I've travelled a lot and I know.Nothing to say about the people working in the hotel, very very kind. I've paid for a superior room, because I read that standard rooms are usually very small. So I booked for a 4 poster bedroom, but I think it was like a 3 star standard room in Italy... sorry, but was small, no coffee maker, no minibar, the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. But the worst thing was the noise: the wooden floor creeping any time, the fire doors on the corridor, the lift moving, everything was noisy. We had to sleep with wax in our ears. The breakfast. Was included, ok, but very poor and without variety. De-freezed brioches, some cheese and ham, fruit, yogurt and toast with honey and jam. No eggs, bacon, wurstel, cakes, no cakes and no biscuits, no pancakes, nothing sweet except jam and brioches (of two different kind). The best thing about the hotel is the position, very very quiet, in a silent square, with a garden in front. Also very close to the tube.

The small rooms are very small - nowhere to put the tea which is delivered to your room - but fine for an overnight stay, and though small a little balcony compensated. Breakfast room is a bit small too - some people had to wait, but otherwise a good stay, quiet, and convenient for the museums.

I have stayed here several times and was upgraded this time to a luxury double with four-poster, just off reception (room 4) looking over the square at the front, at ground level. It's an old building and so creaks and groans from floorboards and stairs feature, but are not a problem for me. The beds are universally comfortable, fruit in the room is a nice touch, breakfast is not extensive but for continental is fine, staff are always very helpful and friendly.

We stayed for just the one night here but would have loved to stay longer! I had booked one of the luxury doubles but on arrival we were upgraded to the Pasha Suite for free which was a really lovely room, particularly for the price. Comfy bed, clean room, clean bathroom and a good breakfast - not a lot more to ask for. Well maybe a big TV, a four poster bed, a view onto the square and tea brought to the room. Great stay, great hotel - will be returning.

Paid a little more for a luxury double expecting it to be bigger than the standard double room. Room 17 was however, tiny - so small there was no space to open a small suitcase, other than on the bed.Apart from this, everything was excellent. If the management were to remove the enormous TV cabinet and replace it with a slim desk or work surface the room would look bigger and be more practical for two.

Hmmm the first thing I would like to...
Hmmm...the first thing I would like to say about the hotel is that the enticing spec definitely works. Laterooms 4 star? Check. Johansen's rave review? Check. The room decor is lovely, and I was impressed with the attention to detail; even for a 'single' booking, the bed was a small double sleigh bed with crimson and gold tapestry style covers, wooden louvre blinds and a stereo system. The shiny red apple was a nice touch, too.So why let it all down with such bad customer service? It wasn't a great start, on a rainy night in London, to be told there that there were no spaces left in the car park, and that if I waited until after eight o'clock the pay spaces (none unoccupied) were free. It was six at this time.It was recommended that I try a hotel around the corner (the Kensington Court-not affiliated to Nevern Square) to see if I could use their car park. Luckily, they had spaces, and were very helpful, with the rate similar to what I have paid before to park overnight in Earl's Court.Later in the evening, there was no hot water for a bath. After calling reception, the porter came and checked the taps. A few minutes fiddling ensued, with the hot water eventually coming through. It transpired that this particular tap is extremely difficult to get right. Ok fine, but a heads-up would be good.Niggly things, I know, but the niggles are the things that tend to get remembered. The really niggly thing though, was breakfast the next morning. I went down to the breakfast room, and when I was eventually acknowledged by the surly staff members, I was told that there was no space left in the dining room. I could, if I wanted, sit in the waiting room and eat my breakfast. So there I sat, perched like a lemon eating my muesli. Along with the other four people waiting. Good job I didn't decide to pay the extra £9 for a cooked breakfast, I suppose.I would have put all these things to one side, and probably not posted a review had it not been for the check-out, though. When asked how my stay had been, I told the receptionist of the issues that I had had. She shrugged her shoulders, gave an embarrassed giggle...and said absolutely nothing. Nothing. Not even a half-hearted apology. So, 20 Nevern Square, get your act together. Yes the decor is lovely, and yes, the prices aren't bad for London. But your staff really let the side down on this particular occasion, and gave the impression that they really don't care. Which they probably don't, but is it too much too ask for them to at least try and pretend they do?

We were upgraded to a suite for no extra cost and the Ottaman room we were given was superb. Only problem is, we have no idea what a standard room is like so we have been rather spoilt. Hotel within 2 mins of exhibition centre which was a bonus. Only niggle is when we went for continental breakfast there were no rolls left and very little fruit, though to be fair we didn't ask for more as we were in a hurry so do not know how long it would take for food to be replenished. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

The rooms are tiny and it seems to be luck of the draw. The first room they put us in had a day-bed. Not a proper double as expected for a Luxury Double Room. Thought this place was great. Very nice staff, very comfy bed and contrary to other reports I thought the continental breakfast was quite generous and good quality. Decent coffeee too!I really liked the fact that you could call to have tea or coffee delivered to your room at any time. I asked for this a couple of times. They were really fast and supplied a great pot of tea.The only downside was the size of the room (it was very tight for space) and the doors and windows rattled quite a lot. But all in all, I would recommend for great value and very convenient location.

We trawled the internet for weeks leading up to our trip to London; we could not find a hotel that looked suitable. Most of the hotels we viewed seemed to be too expensive, had bad reviews, or were too far out from the centre. We chanced upon a Late Rooms listing of Twenty Nevern Square, and it seemed like none of those problems applied. We booked, but still perhaps expected it to fall short somehow. How wrong we were.Everything about this hotel was fantastic:Location - It lies only a couple of minutes' walk from Earl's Court tube station, meaning all of central London is within a 15 minute tube ride. As two tube lines run through the station, we didn't even have to wait more than a minute or two for the trains!Customer services - We arrived half an hour before the 2PM check in time, and were told our room was already ready, and we could check straight in. The desk staff, and all other members of staff we met, were very friendly. They were very polite, and seemed truly interested in ensuring we enjoyed our stay.Room quality - The room was lovely. We stayed in a deluxe double, and it met, even surpassed, expectations. It was incredibly clean and tidy, and was very nicely decorated. There was ample space for the two of us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a short stay in London.

Getting to this hotel is like a charm - you are about 30 minutes from Heathrow airport and no more than 5 minutes walking from Earl's Court station. The only problem was the Google map locator in LateRooms, which points about 200 meters away from the exact location, but I guess this can easily be fixed. In cold days the hotel is extremely warm, which is great. Breakfast is excellent. The rooms are really renovated and are much better than any other hotel I have seen in this area. The wireless LAN connection is excellent and free. The only problem is that what they are giving you as a double room a space that can hardly fit 2 people standing around the bed, which is also very small (120 cm wide). Of course, we were told that this is normally a single room, but they are also selling it for double, but that really shouldn't be so or you need to be warned explicitly when making the reservation. Apart from that everything else was just fine. I would probably stay there again, especially if I don't have to pay triple rate for December 31, like in this case.

We were upgraged to a suite which was very pleasing. The bedroom was excellent with a comfortable 4-poster bed and a large flat screen TV. There was both a bath and a shower. There was no mobile signal as the room was 'under-ground' but this didn't bother us as we came away to get away from the phone.Just 3 negative points. Firstly the bathroom light and fan came on and went off automatically. This was a problem at night as if we had to go to the loo, the light stayed on for about 5 minutes. Also, if one took more than 5 minutes on the loo, the light went off leaving the 'sitter' in darkness. Secondly, the room cleaner neither provided the dressing-gowns promised with the rooms (we had to get them from reception), nor was the shower gel and shampoo replaced for our second day. (We had to use a bar of soap). Finally, although service at breakfast was good, the staff did not smile at all, unlike all the other employees. Maybe they were agency workers.

We were originally booked to stay at 'Twenty Nevern Square' however they called to say that as some of their rooms were undergoing maintenance they were transferring us to their sister hotel 'The Mayflower'. Therefore this review is actually of 'The Mayflower' and not the hotel as stated above. The reception is warm and welcoming, however the bedroom was extremely small (supposed to be a 'luxury double') and we hardly slept a wink because you can hear everyone walking around upstairs and we could also hear music early the next morning (we later found out it was more than likely coming from the breakfast room beneath us!) We were supposed to be given a complimentary bottle of wine because we had been moved, we had to actually ask for the wine which was extremely uncomfortable. The bath had some suspicious curly, black hairs around it which made me want to jump to the ceiling (it was a bit late noticing once I was in the bath!!) So no where near as clean as we would expect, not the customer service we would expect and if you actually want to get some sleep; make sure you are on the top floor!! Also they could offer full english breakfast within the bedroom price, we were aware that it was only continental but it was a bit disappointing on the day.

The important two items were great - we had a very comfortable king-size (American term) bed and the breakfast was as good as we could have expected. Very nice.On the down side, we were put in the next terrace (#19) addition which was not as nice as the main hotel. The room we were given was called the Mezanine, and while it was fine, with a very nice bathroom, the sleeping area was above the bathroom (mezamine) with 5'10" headroom on the ceiling and a beam across the room dropping that to 5'. I bumped my head at least once. Their were no curtains to close over the large victorian windows, though they were "smoked". This was OK for our stay, as it was November, the days are short and the weather was dark and wet. It would be a serious problem in the summer. The room overall was well presented, but the common areas in our building were scruffy at best. The walls hadn't been painted in a while, and the carpet was old and worn. It needs to be fixed up. The main hotel (#20) appeared very nice. Finally, we reserved a twin room, but somehow ended up with a King instead (with a twin roll-away for some reason). As I was with my wife, this too worked out OK. Call ahead to ensure you are getting what you want/need.This was my first stay at a London hotel. Overall, I'd say it was fine and I'd stay there again. But please, hoteliers,if you are going to charge these types of prices, spruce up the "addition."

Unfortunately we were moved at the last minute to the sister hotel the Mayflower. The room was very disappointing, it was very small and basic and not the standard of the 4* accommodation we booked. The breakfast however was good.

Well located, reasonably quiet. Elegant room, sumptuous furnishings, attractive dining area, friendly and helpful staff.Very small downside, personally, did not appreciate bathroom lights being activated by sensor!

Upgraded to the Pasha Suite which was very nice with a balcony and views across the square. Hotel in a quiet situation but very convenient for Earls Court Road and the tube. Four Poster comfy and large TV was a bonus. Friendly service and much nicer than the usual faceless London hotel. No tea and coffee in the room but reception were happy to bring a tray which was actually much nicer. Continental breakfast was also good.

The location of this hotel is perfect. In the center of the city, right next to a subway and in a quiet neighbourhood. Our only concern was the quality of the room itself. With a low ceiling in the bedroom and at the bathroom it could be difficult to move freely. For example - you had to be careful when putting on your blouse as you easily could smash your arm into the ceiling. Besides that the room appeared to be unfinished. We would stay there again, but not if we had to pay the same as for this stay.

Easy access to Earls Court underground. Friendly receptionist and very helpful. Getting food when I arrived at 8pm was a bit of a problem - hotel couldn't do anything I asked for, but eventually found me a tasty sandwich and an apple. Would have liked the facility to make my own tea and coffee in my room (which was very, very cramped even for one person) but they brought me tea and coffee whenever I wanted it incl in the room price. Breakfast was pleasant and eveyone was friendly. Hotel was very quiet even tho it was in the heart of London and I enjoyed my stay all in all.

Advertised as £180 rrp on late rooms reduced to £115 - a bargain one might think. The ad talks about individual rooms with carved head boards, luxurious bed covers...a Johansen boutique hotel no less.Unfortunately the reality was very different. Weirdly the room was next door to the hotel so we had to go out onto the street and up some communal stairs to the first floor (apparently they are currently constructung a walkway between the two buildings). First impressions was of a somewhat shabby room with poorly finished attempt to make it "boutique". An odd shape with separate toilet and shower room off the corridor and twin beds taking up the majority of space in the room leaving no room for bedside tables, instead giant chrome side lights loom out over the beds. The TV was wall mounted at the end of one of the beds, its small size, location and lack of rotation probalby making it poor veiwing from the other bed. The beds were short with cheap feeling mattresses and sheets not duvets! (in this day and age?)As to the bathrooms facilities, I banged my head twice (more fool me) on the protruding poorly carcassed boiler that sticks out over the toilet and learnt a new jig as I danced in and out of the shower as the water temp fluctuated from just too cold to just too warm. Final moan was that the room was cold, especailly in the morning. On the plus side, the room was very clean, the staff pleasant and helpfull, the breakfast room attractive and the breakfast ok.When I told reception that I felt the room was not up to scratch and that if I had paid the £180 I would be asking for my money back I was informed that the room rate has never been £180 and it is normally much nearer to the Late rooms £115. Made me feel ripped off. Will not be staying again, also tempted to write to write to Johansens as their review and my experience are poles apart (except for reference to the welcome and the quality of the staff)

All staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The bedrooms were not as luxurious as I expected, however they were very comfortable and I really liked the decor and quirky layout of the building. The bathrooms were of a high standard of fittings and cleanliness. We felt like we were away in Thailand rather than London as we had a room with double doors onto the courtyard and it was lovely and quiet.

Booked two nights and heard at the last minute that I was to be transfered to sister hotel, Mayflower, v close by. Service was excellent in both hotels; each room was opulent - pity I had no one to share the experience with. Rich, comfortable environment : made to pamper. Go there!!

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel bathroom...
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel bathroom was a little small, but the room in comparison to the last 2 stays in the City in 2 different chain hotels it was more than adequate a little small, but luxurious with beautiful fabrics and cosy. Had to leave the window open as weather was surprisingly warm for the time of year, but where we were situated in room 11 it was nice and quiet. Enjoyed the continental breakfast, and enjoyed the lovely smell of warm bread and coissants wafting up the stairs in the morning. I would recommend this hotel we stayed in a luxury double. Also, when they remade the bed in the morning I would have liked to have had the countepane and cushions replaced as it looks so much more inviting, a small observation maybe but all adds to the luxury of staying in a hotel.

Comfortable. Friendly staff. Breakfast - no hot food - but what is available is adequate. Room was nice and quiet. The bed was a bit small. The shower was good. Free bottles of water - which were needed as it gets hot on the top floor. A fan was provided - and I understood why after about an hour in the room - but it was ok. The TV was old fashioned. Reception staff and breakfast staff were very friendly.
