Good value for money through laterooms

We needed a hotel in central London and were suprised to find this one for £50 including breakfast for two, given its location. It is good value for money if you just want a bed in a clean room in central London and breakfast is a bonus. I woulnd't be happy had I paid the full price though, as it was just that, and the bed was not particularly comfortable, but we didn't expect much for that price. I would stay again if I had to be in that part of London for an early morning meeting, as it worked out cheaper than on-peak train ticket.

Can't argue with the price

At £69 via Laterooms, for a hotel this close to central London (and to a tube station) it was excellent value. There were things I'd fix - a slight damp or musty smell in the room, the flaky hotel wi-fi. And the continental breakfast was a let-down - I could have murdered bacon and eggs. But I'll stay here again if the price remains as good.

Single Room - Another 1 night stay.

My second stay. Good experience overall . Single small quiet rear room with shower directly in room , but clean, with comfortable bed. Compact wc with little space. No desk or dressing table to work at this time. Openable window for ventilation. Limited simple continental breakfast , but ok for £69 inclusive rate. Great value for location at laterooms rate £69. Cheaper than nearest Travelodge. Will stay again at this price.

Second visit just as good as the first

This was the second time I have stayed with Troy Hotel this year and I highly recommend it. The price is very reasonable for London rates and for its central location. The staff are welcoming and the facilities are clean and charming.

Great location and value for money

Attractive and quiet but very near Hyde Park and all the eating places in Bayswater. We booked double room but were upgraded to Executive. Service excellent and staff pleasant. Only quibble might have liked cooked breakfast, but continental style food was plentiful and self service style breakfast was easy and quick.

Good value

I stayed for one night at a cost of £68 which was excellent value for a central London location, opposite Hyde Park and close to Queensway tube and local pub and shops. The only small problems I had were that the shower cubicle was rather cramped and - irritating but not important - it was difficult to fill the kettle from the basin tap because of its design. Otherwise fine. Continental breakfast - but fine. I would stay here again.

Great location

Helpful staff.
Great location, just off the Baywater Rd and opposite the park.
Felt safe walking around the area.
Nice sized rooms with en-suite.
Would have liked either dried or fresh fruit at breakfast but there is a Waitrose round the corner
so you can buy your own.
Excellent value for money and I would stay again.

Convenient and cheap

Didnt realise it was continental breakfast only, just croissants, rolls, cheese, cereal and olives, mixed fruit, but was ok. Room comfy and decent size, literally 5 mins from tube and quick walk thru Kensington park to Royal Albert Hall. Do not ask desk to order taxi for you, we did, charged us £13 to Royal Albert Hall then left us waiting in freezing cold outside Hall for 25 mins waiting on return journey before we cancelled. Black cab takes £7. Only saw desk clerk and he was always helpful and courteous. Parking right outside hotel in street, free at weekend. Lots of food places in next street and Waitrose. Good value for money.

Hotel was easy to get to and well positioned for seeing London. The room was ok but will soon be in need of a refurbishment. The bedding was old fashioned but adequate(if you like a good quilt it may not be for you). The extractor fan in bathroom did not work and no light over mirror. The fridge and safe did not work. The floor boards where creaked in our room and the one above which was a bit annoying at times. The furniture has seen better days. Could do with lights over mirrors in room. The room was clean tidy. The food was not to a standard I would recommend but it was only breakfast. There was a place to store our luggage on the day we left which was good. Overall it was good value for money for London and I would stay there again.

Comfortable room with a Jacuzzi!

The room was temperate and comfortable with the wonderful blessing of a jacuzzi bath, ideal for jetting and bubbling away the cares and labours of the day. True, the main room decor was a little less than pristine and lacked a little verve but the bathroom was excellent. The hotel is very well positioned for sightseeing being a two minute walk from Queensway Tube. The only downside was the charmless disinterest of the reception desk people. If I was the owner I would be furious with these lack lustre people who, for the want of a smile and a kind word, condemn the hotel to mediocrity.

Comfortable, friendly but not great for Wi Fi

Nice hotel, and pleasnatly different from the chain hotel experience. Very nicely furnished rooms, but I would quiible about the Wi-Fi signal which wasn't strong enough to reach my room; and the breakfast which was essentially bread and cheese and/or tinned fruit. Nothing cooked. Would definitely return, but it would be even better if these minor points could be remedied.

Wow - so close to central London and what value!

Have to say - we were 15 minutes walk from Oxford Street, just across the road from Hyde Park and have found a hotel with great standards and at a non-London price. Rooms were clean and recently done up. Bed wasn't the best - but slept really well.
Continental breakfase was very nice and included in the room rate.
Also quite a lot of on street parking - £2.40 per hour and can park for up to 4 hours, But free between 6.30 pm and 8.30 am.
Definitely using again.

Would recommend

We were very happy with what we found at the Troy Hotel. The location was ideal, quiet area, with ease for the underground, a good local pub and walkable to the Natural History and Science museums. The staff were courteous, breakfast was simple but good. The room was nice, clean and the bathroom facilities also good and clean. We would consider staying again if in the city. We've stayed in hostels and hotels in London and we thought this was a good accomodation at a good price...and when London has so much to give you- one to remember for future.

Troy Hotel, the best value I have come across in 15 years.

I have stayed at many London hotels at this cost or higher and was very surprised by the standard and size of the room, quality of the breakfast and the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff.
I would very much put this Hotel at the top of my list if I was staying overnight for business again or on a weekend break with the family.

This small hotel is only a few minutes walk from the nearest tube station and on arrival I found the reception, receptionist and my room what I hoped for but not what I expected for a relatively budget price. The hotel was clean and reasonably well presented, for an overnight stay the room was ideal and although not the most spacious I would not describe it as small. The shower room was clean and the double bed comfortable so overall impression was good. The breakfast the next morning was in a small be ok breakfast room and they provided a basic toast, cereal and yogurts option but I was aware of this when I booked. I would stay here again.

Helen of Troy

Felt like Helen when staying here. Hotel Staff very helpful and courteous, room 401had everything needed with fridge, kettle and excellent shower, double bed + single..Quiet hotel being just off the beaten track but within easy access of transport to everywhere by any means. Transport - do purchase an Oyster Card, they are cheap and superb. Search the net for some understanding and/or purchase but you can buy them when you get there (e.g. tube station, newsagent) and can return the card with your unused amount and deposit refunded immediately. If you have come across this review whilst searching for somewhere to stay; you must stop and book it, now; don't waste time looking elsewhere for something better, there isn't one anywhere near at this price.
