Summary
We had an amazing bargain. The location is perfect for Victoria Rail and Coach Station. Beautiful reception area and lovely luxury touches. The room was a standard room with nice quality bedding and a good bathroom but the single beds were unusually narrow and the minibar was sparsely stocked with soft drinks and snacks only. The toiletries were also very basic (one small soap and one shampoo). There were no cups or spoons in the room and having requested them from reception they failed to arrive. I got the distinct impression that the facilities were dressed down because we were getting a bargain. The continental breakfast was also basic and awkward as the room is small and the tables and chairs are so close together. There was a self-service toaster which was incredibly slow and inadequate for the number of guests. Still, it is a lovely hotel.
Summary
Snooty and Unhelpful.wanted a bit of luxury and got an annexe two doors up with banging doors and noise all night!!!
Summary
Uniquely decorated, excellently located, relatively small hotel right in the centre of Victoria. Rooms are a little cramped but make up for that with style and charm. There is a slight smell of damp, which I experienced both times I stayed, in different rooms, but it was a minor issue. Overall experience very enjoyable and absolutely love the suit of armour in the Reception area!
Summary
Disappointed with size of room and when faulty tv reported no one came back to us at all. Hotel far too warm as well. No evening food or snacks and no one seemed interested.
Summary
The best Late Rooms hotel I've ever stayed in, it's that simple...and I've stayed in lots.
Summary
I travel to London for 2 nights most weeks. I have stayed here a few times now when the price is right on late rooms.
This is a great hotel, with welcoming staff, nice rooms, and an OK continental breakfast. It is a perfect location for where I work, and not too far to walk to Sloan Square, Kensington or Victoria for meals.
My rooms have always been well decorated, albeit compact. The bathrooms are fitted out to a nice standard. Wifi works. Digital TV works. AC/heat works. Even the lift works!
Cooked breakfast is pricey at 20 pounds, but the continental included in the room rate is fine.
I will certainly stay again when the room rate is right.

Summary
I thought this bargain was too true to be true and it was. the location is good and was near to where I needed to be in the morning, plus when you first walk in the room looks really nice. Reception staff were quite surly. Main issues for me was I arrived quite late and just before I got into bed I found the bulbs in the bedside lights were gone and there where no pillowcases. So I went to make a cup of tea and the spoon was dirty. So all in all I was disappointed.
Summary
I booked this room because it was an £800 room on special offer for £147. The site said "Brand new stylishly decorated rooms". The first room we were shown was tiny and right beside the lift. The ceiling above the shower was very badly water stained with the paper and paint hanging into the shower cubicle. The second room was better at first sight, but on closer inspection was tatty, especially the bathroom where grouting was missing, there was a large chip in the bath and the shower handle was broken in the inside. The television looked as if it was trying to project 3D.....it was just completely out of focus. How am I doing against my expectation of an £800 newly refurbished room? Afternoon tea was priced at £26 per head in line with the £800 room price. We settled for two sandwiches, a tea and a coffee for £20 for two. The sandwiches in total were two slices of white bread without the crusts with one thin piece of ham and one thin piece of cheese and some cucumber slices on the plate. The final straw was the £50 pre-authorised credit card slip for any extras. Despite trying very hard, I had to leave after checking out with nothing in my hand to say the balance had been cancelled beyond the £20 sandwich and beverages. Not good! The staff were very polite and they did give us a free continental breakfast because of the room issues. But an £800 room for £147? I don't think so and it set a totally FALSE EXPECTATION.
Summary
We offer modern luxury, quality and comfort - great service and a warm friendly welcome.
The hotel is nestled within an ideal location, quiet, easy to find, central, two minutes from Victoria Station, boasting 5 star quality at 4 star prices.
After a two year closure the long established Tophams Hotel has just re-opened after an extensive £4 million refit as a 48 bedroom luxury hotel situated in the heart of Belgravia, one of the most exclusive residential areas in London. New features include full air-conditioning and complimentary wired and wireless internet through out the hotel.
I booked this room on your website where rooms were being given as a tariff of £770-£800 .I thought therefore the deal we secured at £99 for a room only for my daughter and I sounded splendid .Based on the normal tariff I am afraid I would have to really say it was appalling and I would have been shouting from the roof top in complaint .However the price we paid was probably comparable with other hotels I have stayed in .The room was comfortable and the beds were new .Clearly there has been extensive refurbishment - the problem is that they have not finished it off and maintenance really seems to be a problem .The staff on arrival were helpful and pleasant and the entrance hall looks impressive and nice .It is the finishing touches .Lovely lights etc but cabling all over , no coaster or protection on the furniture in the bar so already stains etc from drinks - it will soon go shabby I fear In terms of our room the we asked if we could get in at 1 which is what it said but my daughter had to wait until after 2 .She was hoping to do some work as I had a meeting that afternoon .When I arrived back she said there was nothing in the mini bar -it had not been stocked up .I noticed there was no kettle on the tray and no hair dryer and there was a light bulb missing on my bedside lamp .One of the cushions on the bed was really pretty but again the zip was broken on it so it was gaping open .There was no valance on the bed so you could see the stripey base - maybe that was meant to be .I also noticed there was no mattress cover on the bed so for future residents the hotel maybe want to invest in that to save on mattresses etc .The staff responded quickly on all of the problems and they were rectified quickly but should not have been there in the first place for a 4 star hotel .I noticed there was no toilet roll holder in the bathroom .Our showers and bath were fine (could have done with two sets of toiletries and conditioner .There was only shampoo and shower wash but there was a gentleman at checkout in the morning who was very unhappy - his shower did not work !He was complaining about maintenance It seems to me they need to get their housekeeping and maintenance sorted quickly if they want to secure a good reputation .It has all of the potential for a great stay .The menu for the evening meal was very basic I thought but again it was printed off and on very cheap printing paper and not very professional LOOKING .I had to ask for the menu and the girl seemed surprised that I did not have a hotel older in our room .Saying all of that my daughter and I slept well beds were comfortable and room was clean .The next morning though the whole room electrics fused just in the middle of drying my hair ! They did sort it though !I would stay there again given the right sort of tariff deal that I got but not at the prices listed normally .It was absolutely great for location and close to everything we needed and the reception staff were nice and polite .I actually felt a bit sorry for them as it seemed they were fielding lots of complaints .
Must admit I was really disappointed by this stay. Arrived, and they took me down to their "sister" hotel the Topham Mews just down at the end of the street... this was like a bedsit. I generally don't complain and take things as they come but.... Windows didn't close, holes in the door.... not a great start. They eventually found me a room in the main hotel which didn't have an on-suite but it was way way better than the first room. Free breakfast was also thrown in but.... recommend you stay elsewhere!
Summary
We had a lovely stay, however when we walked in we were greated by a woman hoovering and could not hear the receptionist as she was rather quiet.
The room was lovely, although we did experience the lift breaking down and we were on the 3rd floor.
Staff were endearingly chaotic at checkin. There were four of them standing behind the one desk. Some confusion about keys but no problem. One chack in desk makes for a long wait when there are several people checking in.
Romm stylish and generally fine though a large stain on the bed cover.
Great location and good value at 'Late Room' prices though would not pay full price.
Great location, very friendly & helpful staff, lovely hotel beautifuly decorated.
Room basic but very suitable. Conditioner would have been helpful as well as shampoo thought.
Would visit again.
Tophams have a sister hotel some 100 metres away where unsuspecting guests are led. Instead of the expected 4 star you end up in the equivalent of a youth hostel. The staff are well practiced at this deceit and have a take it or leave it attitude. Do not stay here!!
Summary
I've booked pretty late and arrived pretty late and I think they've put me in the very last available room. Carpet was blotty, bed was not really comfortable, bathroom not very nice. The room itself was not "new" and not "stylish" as advertised in laterooms. There was no minibar and no aircon in the room (as advertised). One of the windows in the bathroom couldn't be closed and it was quite cold in the bathroom. In the morning, the water in the bathroom was not running. I tried calling the reception with the internal phone about 20 times, nobody was picking up. I've tried calling them with my mobile on the landline number and they picked up and told me somebody would come to have a look. They took me to the main house (my room was in no. 48 I think, main house in no. 32 (?)) and offered me to shower in a kind of public bathroom that was clearly used by other people before. The toilet, that was right next to the shower, was pretty dirty and it was disgusting to shower there. There was no hair dryer and no point in the bathroom and I had to go outside the bathroom to look for a hair dryer. In the end, they've offered me a free breakfast as an apology... well... The only good thing about this hotel is the location as its 1-2 minutes away from Victoria station.
Summary
On arrival, I was told I could not have the same room for two consecutive nights. The first room I was shown was not in the refurbished part of the hotel. It was clean but there was no overhead light, only a small table lamp which was at the opposite side of the room to the bed. There was no chair, so it was impossible to read without balancing the table lamp, rather precariously, on the bed. The room was so small that the door to the en-suite could not close properly and the toilet did not flush. I tried phoning reception but was put through to the answerphone for a different hotel and can only assume that this has not yet been part of the up-dating. I therefore had to go out to get back to reception as this part of the hotel had a separate entrance. Once it was confirmed that the toilet didn't work, I was offered an alternative room in the main hotel. This was a much nicer room but was not en-suite. The bathroom was along the corridor and up a flight of stairs, but at least had a working toilet (although no toilet paper). The room was also missing some basic elements - there was no hairdryer, no coat hangers in the wardrobe and the kettle did not work.
For the second night of my stay I was moved to the room which, presumably, should have been allocated to me for both nights. This was recently refurbished and beautifully appointed ( although still no sign of the Neutrogena toiletries as promised on the booking form). This was the only room of the three to have a brochure detailing the hotel's facilities, including wi-fi access. Had I been in this room for both nights my comments would have been very different and I would probably be recommending the hotel to friends. The hotel staff were all helpful and apologetic about the situation and did offer complimentary breakfasts to compensate. Nevertheless, I would not choose to stay here again, unless I could be assured that my room would be in the main hotel.
Stayed at Tophams on business Mon 30th Jan. Upgraded to a double on arrival!! Basement room, absolutely freezing, even with air con and separate heater. Smelt of damp.... Room service, very poor menu, little choice, very expensive. Restaurant staff were as helpful as they could be at ordering time.
In the morning bathroom so freezing and power shower so strong that in minutes the steam had set off the smoke alarm which was cleverly positioned right by the shower cubicle. Reception staff called me to complain that I had set the alarms off and insisted that I open the bathroom door to let the steam out, yet even when I twice repeated that it already was, they insisted I open it again.
Breakfast - I had paid for a continental breakfast with the room and when I entered the restaurant they insisted that I must not touch the hot food as I had not paid for it. As I told them I knew that as I know what a continental breakfast was made up of.
Took 20 minutes to check out, staff did not seem capable of running the systems properly. All in all - would not stay here again!
For the location the price is very reasonable but it is not really what I would call 4 star quality. Perfectly adequate but nothing more. A 5 minute walk from Victoria station it's perfect for exploring central London without breaking the bank. Customer service was good although when the fuse blew in the room as it began to get dark outside there was no urgency to get it fixed. Made it difficult for my fiancee to do her make-up ready for the theatre, but the Champagne we were drinking made us see the funny side. If you're not a snob then it's ideal, if you are then I suggest you spend a bit more money!
Summary
I arrived as a single female traveller to be shown to a tiny room- a walk down the street away from the main hotel reception and facilities; the room was exceptionally small and uninviting. I was told I would need to double lock the door ad that if I wanted food in my room it would probably be cold by the time it arrived from the kitchen! When I realised there was no electricity in the tiny moulded bathroom, I went back to reception and explained my dissatisfaction- I was told there were no other rooms available but they would move me to their sister hotel in Knightsbridge. Unfortunately I didn't have much choice, and although they arranged and paid for a taxi it was a wholly unsatisfactory experience. The room at the other hotel was much better- but there were no facilities for me to get anything to eat.
I would not recommend this hotel.
A very conveniently placed hotel; short walk from Victoria station yet in a quiet street. Comfortable room and bed. Also convenient for tube and rail and walking to many tourist attraction.
Summary
Booked for a business trip, so location was the key factor.
Close to station but on a very quiet street.
A nice room with efficient staff and a pleasant stay.
Small room, but bed OK and clean. In room 305 but telephone said 306? Ventilation fan hanging out of wall, sideboard falling to bits, radiator in bathroom too close to toilet, burnt myself twice. Shower screen poorly positioned, soaked floor every time I took a shower. Saying all that general decor of hotel downstairs and restaurant good and staff were polite.
Summary
Nice hotel - stayed in a great room on two floors. Only downside was the broken lift and the long time it took to check in after a late arrival but would stay again at the same price as the location is great.
Summary
Having read previous reviews on Tophams Hotel I was prepared for the worst but I was pleasantly surprised. Recption was excellent, with helpful friendly staff. My room was on the second floor of the main building and was well equipped and comfortable. The TV was HD ready but, unfortunately, did not receive a good signal resulting in a very poor picture and choice of channels. The towel rail in the bathroom did not work. I was concerned about the double door access to the room (211) as the outer door, which opened inwards, was very close to the inner door making for a dangerous configuration in the event of fire.
Summary
I have stayed at Tophams Hotel several times and this visit left me unsure about its ability to be a top level hotel. My room was advertised as having a bath and shower but I challenge anyone to discover how to work the shower in room 402 as I could not find anything that resembled a fitting that would push water throught the shower head. I think that Tophams needs to replace its pillows as they are lumpy, meagre in depth and lacking in quality and most importantly the ones in my room smelt of stale sweat as my head warmed them through the night.
Summary
A very quiet hotel considering it was so near Victoria. The beds were very comfortable, both my daughter and myself slept very well. The staff were very helpful.
Summary
£64 booking made at 7.30pm for same night, single room was small and tired. bathroom light not working, TV not working. no telephone to ring for service. one pillow. bed had seen better days. No wifi, materially different to the description on the booking form and as such feel missold, Having said all that I did not expect much, for £64, it was clean and the service at the front desk was good. Told them about the issues in the room on checking out. No comment, no concern, did not take the opportunity to see if I was happy unhappy. (I generally don't let things like this upset me so they might not have realised that I was not happy). I am happy to remove this post if contacted by the hotel for them to show me how room H1 is as per the description. see booking ref here

Brand new stylishly decorated rooms with free wireless & wired high speed internet, a mini-bar in each room, Neutrogena toiletries and air-conditioning. Very quiet yet very convenient location. Non refundable. Continental Breakfast.
Very nice hotel in a great location. Comfortable room with all the facilities one would want. Continental breakfast was all we needed.
Summary
When i booked the room, it was advertised as having a bath and shower. The room that we were allocated only had a shower and wet room (Room 304).
I mentioned this to the reception person who said that her colleague had taken the Late rooms.com booking and she couldn't find our details!
I wondered if somebody else had been given our room, but the reception person didn't seem to understand.
The room we stayed in was clean and adequate for the night, but not the one we expected.
Stains on carpet, peeling paint throughout bathroom, no tea bags or milk, only coffee.
Bath leaked excessively, hotel receptionist did not seem bothered, good job room was not upstairs.
Very poor for money paid.
I was placed into a poor quality annexe. The shower room light did not turn off and the shower connection to the tap on the wash basin was broken, so no shower available. What is worse, the hotel management knew that the room was poor. An indifferent full breakfast was inadequate compensation.
Summary
While not being a bad experience, it has nothing of what would be categorized as a 4 star. My room was "only" 145 GPB but announced at a ~450. If i paid that i would have been furious.
I think the general problem is that the manager is hiring young girls with good looks with less skill.
I had the feeling i need to check my credit-card balance occasionally the coming months, for small fake debits...
Quaint little hotel but a little disorganised on the front desk due to systems failure. Friendly staff, comfy beds, stylish decor...an easy central base. Near to all main needs - good independent cafes and eateries, tube and bus stops and walking distance of main attractions.
Summary
The standard of the accommodation was very good however it is worth noting that this is a dry hotel with no alcohol in either the room mini bar or the actual hotel bar, it would be informative to have this information when booking this hotel as it would deter us from booking such an establishment.
Summary
Really pleasant interior and rooms well designed and appointed, great images on the wall very welcoming. Requested additional tea for room from member of staff who promised to deliver to room. had not arrived after waiting 45 minutes, phoned reception from room - no answer. walked to reception to find no one at desk eventually found member of staff who found items needed. Even with slight hicup would still recommend.
Summary
Couldn't fault the location or the staff. If you want a good base to visit the sights at a fairly reasonable rate you will be very pleased - obviously you are paying for the area, but that's fine we accept that. Staff were very helpful and allowed us to leave our cases at the hotel on the day of departure and we simply collected them later in the day. Couple of downsides (1) no bar!! well actually there is a bar but it doesn't sell alcohol?? (2) continental breakfast at £15 is a bit steep, merely croissants, fruit and cereals. To be honest the hotel wasn't exactly 'immaculate' but the bathroom was large and very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. There's not lots of space in the room - but more than enough if you are using this as a base to see the City. Have definitely stayed at worse for more money. We will stay here on our next visit to London.
Summary
Double and single beds in room made it awkward to get to wardrobe 2 singles would make more room good size bathroom . breakfast room could do with a couple less tables just to make room to get around . staff were friendly and helpful . good location .

We booked two single rooms for two nights and received a confirmation for just that. However, when we checked in we were informed, that they are fully booked and don't have two single rooms, but one "suite" with two separate beds and just one bathroom. All of this for the same price, which was not acceptable to us, hence we were sent to a hotel of "the same standard". Needless to mention, that the alternate hotel, and certainly our two single rooms, were of a much lower standard. Overall, a very poor experience with the Topham Belgravia.
