Clean and good location hotel

Some of the carpets and general decor looked a little tired, but the room was spacious, clean and tidy and overall great value for an inner city hotel. Very comfy bed ! Handy location for our London offices. The breakfast deal from laterooms wasn't initially in my booking details, but on showing the printout the hotel honoured the discounted breakfast rate. I would be happy to stay here again.

Great location for what we wanted which was sightseeing and river meal cruise.Slight hiccup in the bill pricing as the total through late rooms did not inc vat. This did not spoil the experience.

Poorly designed and fitted rooms at thistle westminster

The room we stayed in had two double beds and a sofa, unfortunately the beds were too close to the fitted wardrobes so you couldnt open the doors. If the first bed was swapped with the sofa things would have worked fine. It looked like the room had been fitted out by a work crew, with headboards and vanity fittings put in first and then furniture added later, by which time it was too late to correct the wardrobe problem.
Also, the toilet was clearly designed to be a bidet, not a toilet. It was far too shallow to be a toilet. You could not use tissue without your fingers coming into contact with the water. Totally disgusting really.
Apart from that, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the food was ok.
All in all though not great value at £210 for a night.

Room Size

In the deluxe family room the bed was so close to the wardrobe, you couldn't open the doors. There were five coat-hangers and three tiny drawers for five of us. Coffee facilities were only supplied for two despite it being booked as a room for four.

Great Location But Needs a Refurb

This hotel is badly in need of a lick of paint but will be closing after this summer and is being turned into flats. If you can get a good price on late rooms stay - its functional but certainly not a fabulous experience its just in a handy part of town and has secure underground parking.

A well placed and accommodating hotel

Centrally placed, ideal for Victoria station and theatres. The hotel was clean and tidy and the room was very well appointed. The check in was efficient if not overly friendly - no eye contact, attempt at converstation or apparent interest. I would certainly recommend this hotel but see if you can get a deal on the room.

Alans honest appraisal!

Have stayed here several times over the years and have found the standard to remain pretty consistent. Hotel looking in need of a "wash and brush up" externally at the moment and a lot of road /pavement works being undertaken in the vicinity (most of central London seems to be similarly affected---probably Royal Jubilee and Olympics preparations). However remains ideally situated for both business and leisure visitors with all transport links available on the doorstep.I do not think you will be dissapointed should you choose to stay here.

Pleasantly surprised

I think I stayed here a few years ago on business, and don't remember being that impressed. But this time I had the family with me (wife and two boys aged 2 and 4), and I booked the Thistle because they had the family rooms with two double beds. And to my surprise, it was great.
Some other reviews commented that the rooms with two doubles weren't huge. Well, it wasn't a palace (the big place up the road was taken), but by central London standards, it was plenty big enough for our family, and had everything we needed. The rooms and public areas were well laid out, well decorated and immaculately clean (at least until our boys got stuck into the buffet breakfast - sorry about that). The staff were friendly and extremely helpful (even at that breakfast).
As others have commented, it's really well located if you're coming in from Gatwick (after a 12 hour flight with the boys, a hotel 5 minutes from the station was just what we needed). But better still, the open top sightseeing bus stops right outside the door. So two days' entertainment for the family sorted while I went off and did boring work stuff. Perfect.
The rooms are all on two floors. I didn't fully appreciate what a valuable selling point that is until the afternoon our two year-old son ran into the lift on his own. A scary moment, but thankfully it only took a couple of minutes to find him again. I'm glad we weren't in a bigger place.
I don't think we managed to get the cheapest rate available here, but even so we thought we got our money's worth (hey, it's London). I'd recommend it to others.

A very good hotel in a most convenient position

I stayed at the Thistle Westminster in order to help our daughter-in-law shepherd two lively boys (nearly 3 and nearly 5) around some of the sights of London, while our son was at a conference. The hotel was ideally placed for this as it is a five-minute walk from Victoria Station (the family had flown in from Bangladesh) and one of the big London sightseeing buses stops outside the door.
Accommodation and food (we only had breakfast) were well up to standard. Self-service breakfast gave us lots of choice, well prepared and cooked - our apologies to any guests who had work to do that day and were at all disturbed by the grandsons' high spirits.

Excellant value if on a deal-if full price there are much better 4* hotels

For £85 p night in a brilliant location we were not expecting much-and as we approached the ugly exterior our hopes were not raised. Once inside however for the price this was an excellent hotel. Room was in good condition, v clean, of quite high quality (though rather dated 1980s style and unusual shape-long and thin), and had all usual facilities. Reception and Concierge v friendly and helpful.
For the price it was far superior to other options in this price range. However, as a 4* Hotel it was not top notch by any means. At full or nearly full price we would have been disappointed, but if sub-£100 p night deals available will go again.

Great Hotel for Business and Holidays in the City

The best thing about this hotel is the location!
I had to visit the city for business and the Thistle Westminster offered a great alternative to a central city hotel, for a great promotional price on laterooms.
It is only a quick 15 min tube ride to the city, with victoria station conveniently located closeby.
The hotel is situated 1 block from Buckingham Palace and was just a short tube ride from the West End so is also ideal for city breaks too.
The room quality was great, the staff friendly and polite enough and the food and drink reasonably priced (although £17 for breakfast is quite expensive - £10 if bought the night before in advance).

Pleasantly surprised

Having stayed in London many time before and with the offer price of £80 then my expectations were not so high BUT even for a fussy git like me I have to say I will keep this hotel on my accommodation radar next I visit. I am very fussy about hotel room cleanliness and in particular the bathroom but I could not fault either. I flew into Gatwick and took the Gatwick Express to Vitoria Station. The journey took 30 mins. From the station to the hotel it took a brisk 10 minute walk. The hotel is ideally located to explore London via the tube. One thing that I would like the hotel to offer is free Internet access in rooms. It's a common service offered in most European destinations. It offers wifi but the charge was £6 for 90 mins or £10 for 24 hours.

Stayed at the Thistle, Westminster and the stay was okay. The my colleague stayed in had a problem with the noise of the heater but both rooms were acceptable. On the next morning I was missed off the breakfast list as the day before and after tasting it I wish I was not accepted in as it was the worst breakfast I have ever taste. I couldn't cut the fried bread, the bacon was fat with a bit bacon. The sausages was nice but that was about it.
