The only blip on the stay was the plumbing on the fourth floor - waiting for the hot water to arrive. Everything else was great.

Lovely comfortable hotel, excellent food, staff very friendly & helpful.

We were delighted with our room and the hotel but unfortunatey the room was too hot and the heat could not be turned down. The towel rail in the bathroom was also scorching and could not be turned off. Our daughter burned her hand on it and then we had to cover with towels. We did not sleep due to the heat. The hotel brought us an air conditioning unit but in order to use it we had to have the window open which meant noise and the noise of the AC unit was enough. They need to sort this out as the weather is getting warmer and those sort of temperatures are not healthy and cannot adhere to health and safety regulations. We told reception as we checked out about the heat but no offer of discount was made just an apology.

An excellent hotel - olde worlde and very comfortable large rooms - within easy reach of marble arch and a very rare thing - a car park!

From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. The room was comfortable and well presented. Breakfast was excellent. We appreciated the offer of a second discounted night on request. Great location and excellent service. We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel and look forward to visiting again.

The hotel was in a good location, the hotel was clean, could have been warmer in the room but that could have been us not necessarily the room

I stayed here on a works course midweek. got an upgrade which was very good. Room was lovely, food was just ok but no better. The staff were great though, very helpful

We stayed in a really quirky room in an annexe of the hotel with a whole flight of stairs inside the room and 3 more into the bathroom. The staff were without exception friendly polite and helpful. They forgot to get my newspaper so the lad at reception went out specially to buy one for me.

Great park-side location, friendly reception, excellent room view and lay-out.Nicely decorated bar area but no atmosphere at night.

Price is in line with other hotels in the area. Excellent location for tube and Hyde park. Room was contemporary and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again

Terrible experience. Bad customer service. Air con did not work in the room - i called the reception twice and each time they said they'd send soneone to fix it, but no one came either time... Third time i called, they just didnt answer anymore. Rooms are old & noisy. Really bad experience.

If you like small, 'country house' hotels, this is the place for you. Beautifully located across from Hyde Park, it had the excellent service and classic comfort you usually get only from an expensive hotel in the country. Food was really good and excellent value.

No air con, shower broken, overcharged and not even on the system, fawlty towers.

The hotel had no details of my booking when I turned up so recommended that I try somewhere else. When I convinced them I had a booking they gave me a room on the third floor with no working lift. No mention was made that the air con was clearly not working and the room was unbearable hot. The receptionist admitted the next day that the air con was blowing warm air.
Poor quality, value and service

The room, which was booked a month in advance, at what I believed to be a prestigious city centre hotel, was at the back of the hotel, with a large air conditioning vent that ran just outside the window, that was noisy all through the night. The windows were all frosted so that you couldn't see it or the scaffolding and building works just outside. There was no hot water in the morning so I was unable to have a shower, the /air conditioning / heating control didn't work which meant that I woke up cold in the early hours, and there was a leak from a ceiling vent above the toilet that dripped a puddle onto the toilet seat - very unpleasant when I used it in the morning before I noticed! All this was reported to the managment in the morning who barely apologised and assured me that when I next booked another room they would make sure I was looked after. A pathetic response as I would never book another room with them. As the room was pre-paid and I needed to get to work I felt unable to take the time to argue this point but feel that I was due a refund, if only a partial one.

Small, noisy, and only one bath towel - but good value overall

Good stay very helpful staff I had to complain about the externa noise and got moved to a (marginally) quieter room without fuss or delay. Breakfast excellent as always.

Hotel stay was excellant, The room had a view over Hyde Park. There was no noise, staff were very friendly, Liked having a parking space at the front door. Made the stay more enjoyable and pleasant

Very friendly and helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. Very large spacious room and bathroom. Good location close to Lancaster Tube Station. I was hoping there would be a duvet on the bed, however, there wasn't (sheets and blankets only) - so a little disappointing. I had made the booking with Laterooms, although when I arrived at the hotel they were not aware of my reservation ... !

The room we had was very spacious comfortable and clean the bed gigantic
the only downside to this room the heating did not work to well and was cold but there was an electric radiator provided
this is the second time we have used this hotel and would use it in the future

Pleasant and helpful staff, a lovely room and great breakfast. My only gripe - and it's minor - was that the TV in the room did not have proper Freeview, as advertised on Late Rooms and the hotel's website. It meant I couldn't indulge myself in my guilty pleasure when the door's locked and there's no chance of anyone seeing me. But hey, I don't have to watch CBeebies every time I go away. Cheers!

First Class Service, Great Breakfast, Nicely Decorated Rooms. Room was a bit small for a couple.

I have used this hotel a number of times over the years. It is mostly refurbished, I have always had nice rooms. It is in a great location. Breakfast - There is a good variety of fresh fruit, meats, breads etc and cooked breakfasts are freshly cooked to order - very good.
On the down side, of late, the passenger lift seems to be out of order a lot although there are alternative lifts. The heating/air con can be hit and miss although each room has stand alone electric radiators.
On balance a nice quiet hotel which I will be using again.
There is construction work going on to the adjacent building but this has not affected my stays.

Had a big refurb, new carpets etc, but some obvious signs of age despite the big and recently painted rooms
- toilet handle broken / taped up
- no shower head support - had to hold the shower head
- poor grouting and silicone sealant jobs in the bathroom
- old plumbing so had to run taps for over a minute to get hot water
- someone stuck in the lift in the morning as I left!

Nice hotel with pleasant feel despite being part of a much larger group. The room was a bit small for a double although adequate and reasonably good value for the price. Good service in the bar and well priced. Ordered breakfast for two in the room but only one turned up so had to share which was a shame rather than wait for the second one to be delivered. Other than that, a nice hotel and would stay again.

The hotel is in a great location and is a very nice old hotel. However, it is currently hemmed in by construction work and refurbishment to the buildings either side of it. These works are well contained and the area is tidy. Inside the hotel the corridor and stairs to my room were being decorated. Painters working during the day and clearly wet paint to walls. I wold have thought that corridors would have been isolated for this to take place.
Room very nice but cold (stayed during cold sanp in early December. Ensuite good. Breakfast was freshly prepared and one of the nicest I have ever had

My room the bathroom was showing it,s age and could do with a make over.
It was okay for a business stay and convenient for the trains. the front of house staff were good quick and attentive

Warm friendly welcome, beautiful old building with ornate features. My room was spacious and very well equiped complete with a wonderfully comfortable 4 poster bed and huge original bath. The sort of room you really want to share.

Great location but the room was well past its best. Shower head didn't attach to the wall, and loose tiles in the bathroom floor. However, the room was clean.

Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. The bedroom faced a very busy road and it was noisy all day andnight.
It would have helped to have had a list of phone numbers for the Bar, reception etc in the room

Great Location for Hyde Park event...Long Live Elvis. Great front desk staff, great maid staff...overall customer Service was Excellent. Nice size room and in good condition.

The hotel was adequate but very expensive for what it was

I had booked this hotel on the spot through my iPhone. Decent room although the Air Con didn't work and they therefore used a portable unit in my room. No problem with temp but i would expect at that price that they would just fix the air con instead of supplying a mobile (but appeared to be a permanent feature) in the room. Top floor overlooking hyde park. Good experience but i would have expected a little more for that.

We stayed at the Thistle Hyde Park for a weekend with our 4 year old son. The location is perfect - we had a lovely room that overlooked the park. The beds were fantastically comfy and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. When we arrived we found out that breakfast was in fact included which we hadn't expected - and there was a good choice on offer. Great hotel - would definately stay again.

Excellent staff and facilities, Jo Jo on reception was superb resolving questions and finding a double room as booked rathe than a twin. stayed during the very hot spell in July, as with almost all the hotels, aircon is nothing but a drone in the background. On cooler normal nights woul dbe perfect!

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night after attending a concert in Hyde Park. The room was very clean and was a considerable size with period furniture. The bathroom was marble from floor to ceiling. A very good experience overall, but there was building work directly at the back of the hotel and they started work at 8am! But I would actually stay here again, as it was excellent value for money (considering it is London) and the location is very good also. NB: Book through laterooms.com as you don't pay the room tax which is incurred on the hotel's direct website.
