We had an event at the Royal Albert...
We had an event at the Royal Albert Hall and needed a room for 2 adults and 1 teenager and another for 2 adults. Booked 1 room for 2+1 and a deluxe double for the two adults. The 2+1 was what I have seen elsewhere listed as a "junior suite" with a seating area that held the temporary bed and an area for the kingsize bed. Decor was dated but unusual, I don't in any way mean to imply that it was dirty though. There was a sign in the bathroom that said that hot water might take up to 1 minute to flow through, it took about 5 minutes first time but after that was about 1 minute - would have been a problem if there wasn't a sign. Booked breakfast at time of booking and £10 was good value for London. Hotel had plenty of parking at £24 for 24 hours and on the day we checked out the hotel said that we could leave the car in the car park for the remainder of the day so we could do what we needed to do... very reasonable for so central to London.

Breakfast was very good indeed and the OJ is not from concentrate as they say. If you like running then the position opposite Hyde Park is perfect. The only issue I had was changing rooms 3 times due to the noise levels from the heating/plumbing systems for the rooms near to the lift area - I am not a light sleeper but the background noise is constant and will grate after a few hours! Staff were very pleasant and accomodating and its 3 mins walk from Lancaster Gate tube. There is a decent selection of restaurants within 5 mins walk.

Reception and restaurant staff were very helpful and attentive. De-luxe room was very spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you'd expect from a 4* accommodation. Carpets in the corridors were a little threadbare and could do with replacing but otherwise decor was ok. Breakfast was very nice and the restaurant meals seemd to be reasonably priced although I didn't take my evening meal in the hotel.Hotel is in a brilliant location, easy walk from Paddington Station, with lots going on around the hotel and plenty of eateries. I'd stay here again.

Very friendly, superbly comfortable and even liked the lift not working between 3 and 4th floors - it adds character.

We stayed here for one night as we had a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. It was our anniversary and we emailed them to ask for a complimentary upgrade. They were extremely helpful and gave us an upgrade to the junior suite with a blacony overlooking hyde park. We couldnt believe it! Unfortunately, the rooms are VERY VERY tired and in need of a serious revamp. Being that this was the junior suite we were expecting grand things however we were shocked to discover the sofa in the room was threadbare and mustard coloured with the springs hanging through the seat section, the curtains were dirty looking and the general decor of the room was depressing and old. We didnt complain because they had been good enough to give us an upgrade but we wouldnt stay here again until they have completely revamped the whole place! Breakfast was average.

The hotel had our booking a bit wrong, booking for 2 adults instead of 1A 2C but they were very good at sorting it out. Got put in a junior suite with balcony over looking Hyde park and included breakfast. This was not what was stated in my booking with late rooms but we were extremely pleased with what we got and how efficiently the hotel dealt with the booking mix up. The staff were amazing, a guy on the front desk called michael wood checked us in and remembered not only us but also our room number for breakfast. Food wasgood and plentiful. I would without a doubt stay here again. Thankyou to them for making our stay pleasant.

The hotel was a little far out for my liking with the closest tube being a ten minute brisk walk. The room was fine but the temperature was extremely difficult to control meaning we slept badly due to the very dry heat.

We arrived at the Thistle Hotel and were told that we had been upgraded and that our teenage daughter had a single room with a view overlooking Hyde Park. Our daughter`s room had no heating and the hotel provided her with 2 plug in radiators for her 3 night stay. Our upgraded room had no heating in the bathroom and also had 2 plug in radiators in the bedroom. We complained and where told by the staff that the hotel was in the process of up grading its central heating and some rooms had heating and some did not. we were offered an alternative room which had no view but at least had heating in the bathroom so we moved. Despite our initial problems we enjoyed our stay and found the Hotel to be a good base with good Bus and Tube stops near by.The Hotel itself was very clean and the staff very helpful, courteous and polite. The lack of heating in the rooms was the only problem we encountered which for the time of year was relevant.

I had an excellent stay at the Thistle...
I had an excellent stay at the Thistle and would whole heartedly recommend it. We had a great deal from laterooms and the size of the room was a real surprise. Unfortunately on one of the coldest nights of the year the room's central heating was not working. The hotel provided electric heaters and have also offered a discounted return stay. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. Great location: apart from the eating it was faultless.

I thought I had booked a star hotel...
I thought I had booked a 4star hotel but this fell very short of my expectations and is very expensive for this type of accommodation. The hotel is very tired and shabby. Lights missing parts, bath fittings in poor condition, furniture in room shabby. Lift not working but only had a sign on the ground floor which wasn't much help to us with luggage and a child on the 3rd floor.

The area of the hotel where my room was situated had leaking ceilings, buckets, wet carpets and smelt strongly of damp. The room was itself nice but spoilt due to lack of heating - the two portable heaters were insufficient and the bathroom was as cold as outside. The water temperature was luke warm. The receptionist was very nice and considerate but the room should not have been offered for customers at that price. Not only will i not go back to Thistle hotels but probably wont use laterooms again.

Stayed here before. Good rate through laterooms.com. Great location as walked from Oxford St ( ok if you like to walk around London- otherwise transport great) Was lovely to sit and have breakfat overlooking Hyde Park and go for a post breakfast stroll. Was upgraded to a suite to compensate that there was decorating going on in the reception area.

i chose this hotel due to its location...
i chose this hotel due to its location i stayed at the Hilton Hyde park just up the road last year and found it easy to get to everywhere i needed.so when finding Hilton had no rooms i chose the Thistle (mistake!)the room i booked was a stanard double and it came with free breakfast with late rooms.when ariving at the hotel we were met with a large sheet of plastic covering half the room down stairs they were painting it! the receptionist took so long to check us in fisrst stating that our booking was not on the sysytem and then having to found it stated we did not have breakfast! after some time we finally got our room key and up we went 321 was the number i think! the bed in the room was no way a standard double and the matteres over hung on each side! there was only one towel in the barth room and the curtains were ripped!! at this point i was running late and just dropped the bags and went back out again!on returnig to the hotel i looked at their website ane the pic they show for there standard doudble room is no way the room i was given! so i went a complained. with this the guy insisted it was a double bed (not even big eoungh for two people) and i complained some more! he then offered me a free upgrade to a junior suite! the room itself was about 4 times the size of the first room and the bed was massive! thinking this was good i ran a bath for my girlfriend and found hair that hadn't been clean very well!! NOT NICEthe next problem came when we turned the tv off and tried to sleep! there was the worse sound of water leaking dripping running most annoying sound coming out of the AC unit! at this point it was too late to try and move again and thought ill live it and try and sleep!was so annoyed in the morning when checking out i just wanted to get out and forget about my stay at this hotel!breakfast was about 6 out of 10!

Large room, particularly for a hotel in London, but in need of refurbishment. Carpet in particular needed cleaning and it took a long time for hot water to come out of the shower. English Breakfast was very enjoyable and well presented. Staff were very helpful. Good location for tube (Lancaster Gate and Queensway both within walking distance).

The room looked like it would have been very very posh 80 years ago, and the investment of a small bit of money would make this a brilliant hotel, however there were a few items which were a little work ( for example only 2 of the plugs being switched from the old round pin plugs?????? Also AC didn't work.
