Our junior suite room was a good size. Decor is slightly dated and bathroom in need of an update but the room is clean and very comfortable. I wouldn't pay the full price for the room but at reduced offer rate it was much more in keeping with the standard of the room. Breakfast was very good value.

I had booked with late rooms for the thistle hyde park, printed off the reference number and details. Arrived at Thistle Hyde Park who had no availability and could not facilitate us that night and were unaware of the booking.
After sitting for a period of time the manager made calls to other hotels in the group and as good will offered us two executive rooms at kensington gardens over looking the park.
At this point we made our way to Kensington Gardens releaved and pleased we had accomodation for the evening.
On arrival at kensington gardens there was a repeat performance of why we were there?
After a number of phone calls we were eventually given two rooms that were not executive nor had they a park view, but had obviously been smoking rooms and as a non smoker smelt disgusting.
Releaved at 8.00pm to have a bed for the night we made do!
This has dented my confidence in using laterooms as there was obviously a problem regards communication with the thistle hotel group.
The room we were first allocated was on the top floor and with no airconditioning it was hot. The bathroom was in need of an update and the shower was not working properly. We advised reception who moved us to a new room with balcony which was excellant. The courtesy and service from the staff was excellant at all times and breakfast well worth having.

Room was very expensive - 161 for the night not including breakfast. For this price I would not expect dated furniture, a standalone radiator, a badly marked dresser....I could go on. Basically I felt as though I were in some sort of hostel.
The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location.

From previous reviews we knew the hotel was not a contemporary buiding but we were very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. There were 4 of us including my wife and 2 Daughters of 7 and 11. We were allocated a Junior suite which was very spacious, had a huge bed for ourselves and 2 camp beds for the girls. It was very clean, had ample storage space and a big bathroom. Check in and checkout were both smooth. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel as we felt it was rather over priced and was not included in our room rate. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would not hesitate to use it again.

Expected more from this hotel, room was very dark and creepy and the view from the window was not very good at all, overlooking the roof of the next building and the small back yard. Building next to the hotel is full of scaffolding and early in the morning could hear some noise in the room. Seems like the hotel requires some well needed tlc as it is very tired. On the plus side breakfast was very good. The hotel is on the quiet bayswater rd (quiet for a city)overlooking the park and queensway tube station is only 3 mins walk away. On the whole good for the location but i would not recommend the accomodation itself. Prefered the Hilton London Bridge anyday.

We arrived to find the hotel had overbooked due to the special offer we had booked. They were really good though and moved us to their sister hotel at Westminster for 2 nights and upgraded our rooms at no extra cost. They paid for the taxi to the new hotel and then back again to Hyde Park. Both hotels were lovely and we could not fault the staff at all. We would definately stay at both hotels again.

On arrival in the room there were only towels left for a single person and we had to phone reception for more. The same happened when trying to make a cup of tea, only one teabag!
The toilet seat was not fixed to the toilet, so would slide upon being sat on. The hot tap dripped continuously into the sink. The TV connection to the plug socket was intermittent and had a lose connection, so only worked when held in a certain position. To complete this disatisfaction, the lift got stuck between the third and fourth floor on three consecutive uses and, as we were on the fourth floor, we had to walk (with luggage) up the eight flights.

We really enjoyed our stay at Thistle Hyde Park. Although it was a good job we arrived early(midday) because they hadn't put our booking through, they were keen to point out it wasn't late rooms fault, they just had'nt put it on their system. So they gave us free tea, coffee & juices for the children while it took them 20 minutes to sort it out. So we still got into our rooms way before the official check in time of 2pm. At 75 per room with full english and a bottle of wine per room- a bargain. List price was 255 for room only. The most comfy hotel bed I've ever slept in as well.

Excellent hotel and value for money. We were upgraded and had a room at the front overlooking the park. Although on a busy road, we could hardly hear the traffic and it certainly didn;t disturb us. The hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. The service was very good and the full english set us up for the day. We didn't dine or use the bar, but the hotel was an excellent base for getting around London.
The room was ok, although I've stayed at better 4* London hotels for similar price. It was large and functional, although a lot of the furnishings were dated. The central heating was none-existent, common for an old hotel, but the heaters and fans were temperamental. The bathroom was ok but the hot water took several minutes to come through, and the shower mixer was broken on the bath.
Overall it's a clean and central hotel which if you can get a good deal is excellent value for money, if you are expecting a romantic and classy 4* hotel then I would perhaps look elsewhere

Hotel itself was nicely decorated although carpet on stairs and some lights could do with being replaced however our room was fantastic & the shower was one of the best I've ever experienced! Got an excellent deal through late rooms so couldn't fault the price at all and the breakfast each morning was lovely, nice set-up for the day ahead, with the hotel being located just opposite one of the entrancances to Hyde Park it was lovely just to walk across the street and in there for a stroll in the mornings. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a break in London.

We arrived during the snow & icy cold weather and even though it was only around 12 noon we were able to check into our room immediately which was a real bonus. The staff could not have been more helpful (except for one "gentleman" at breakfast - the only English member of staff - who was quite rude). The room was quite small and there was a leak in the bathroom which was coming through the light. We reported it on three occasions and were informed not to worry that all the lights were fused!!! It was dealt with but returned within hours. All in all good value for 75 per night but would not pay the rack rate for such a small room.

The room was nice with stylish decor, but with something of a 'faded grandeur' about it i.e. in need of redecoration. Excellent location overlooking Hyde Park & on main route to Marble Arch / Oxford Street Area, and near Lancaster Gate 'Tube' station. Staff were friendly and generally helpful. Nice freshly cooked English breakfast, although not a great choice of cereals / fruit.
The down side was the Hotel was very overbooked, and half our party (in a separate room) was asked to transfer to the Marble Arch Thistle, which we refused to do. Again, the Evening Meal was booked at the Hotel but later we were told it would be at the Kensington Thistle instead, fortunately within walking distance. I presume these problems mainly occurred because we were there at a 'busy' time i.e. a weekend in the run-up to Christmas.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating with strong customer service. Our room was booked as a superior room, via laterooms.com, offering robes within the package. Only problem was that the robes were not provided at time of our stay. Not a big issue. The superior room was at the front of the hotel, which was very noisey from the main Bayswater Road (including road cleaning at 6.30am on Sunday morning). Travelling with 18m old child, the hotel and staff were extremely child-friendly. The (travel) cot was clean, almost brand new, ready made up in the room with clean bedding. Our child slept well even if we didn't! Highchairs were readily available in the restaurante for our breakfast. Great location across from Hyde Park, 5-10 min walking from L.Gate or Queensway Tube.

The bedroom in the suite had to accommodate and adult and two girls aged 14 and 15 and was too small and very dark. I booked online via laterooms for the Thistle Hyde Park and when I got to reception to check in they told me there were no rooms left and that they had booked me into the Thistle Kensington Gardens, which was 5 minutes up the road. This hotel is not oriced the same as the Thistle hyde Park - it is in fact cheaper. A quick comparison today for next staurday puts the Thistel Hyde Park at 211 vs 186 for the Thistle Kensington. If I had booked the Thistle Kensington via laterooms the same time I had booked the Hyde Park, I would have got a cheaper price.
Even though I stayed in a 'cheaper' hotel I was charged the full price I paid for the Thistle Hyde Park.
I specifically booked the Thistle Hyde Park because I have always wanted to stay there. The Thistle Kensington Gardens is above a Petrol station. At 9 am the fire alarm went off and we the entire hotel had to be evacuated, due to the proximity of the petrol station. It turned out to be a false alarm.
The only redeeming factor was that they agreed to give us a free breakfast, but that was only after I asked AND insisted on it. Otherwise they just shrugged their shoulders and said there was no other option.
Disappointed and feel duped.
We were in 206, a 'junior suite' converted up to 4 by 2 small campbeds for the children. Somewhat surly receptionist wished to add on 100 when initially swiping my card 'to cover extras' and seemed peeved when I refused, saying it was company policy. Never had this anywhere else; maybe I don't get out enough. Made up for by concierge, who was knowledgeable about locale and provided bus maps and colouring packs for the kids. Room good & clean, bathroom a little short on hot water in evening. didn't eat here(ridiculously expensive breakfast (like most others). Limited on-site parking at 24 a day.

Customer service was very good, I was allowed to check into my room much earlier which made life much easier. Although the hotel was clean, it was that typical heavily-decorated old-fashioned English look which in my opinion, was in need of a little modernisation. My room was small and the double bed was small too (a normal divan) - would not have been large enough to share with a friend, only a partner!!! I did not eat at the hotel but I had some wine delivered by room service and the experience was a good one, not too pricey either. When in London, I always stay at a more modern hotel so I must say I am very spoilt, hence my somewhat neg view of this hotel... so I would not stay here out of choice if I could stay at my usual hotel. That said, it was a nice experience and location-wise i feel the room rate was OK.

The room was unbearably hot and the hotel has a cooling system rather than air conditioning on the upper floors due, I was told, to the age of the hotel. Housekeeping were quick to deliver fans but basically the room was very hot and, with the fans, very noisy too. Not much sleep before our day of sightseeing! Breakfast food quality was average to poor with much of the buffet looking tired and the cooked breakfast a little on the congealed side. Positives were the front of house staff who tried to keep us cool. The concierge was very good with excellent advice and on the lookout to actively help his guests. If you go along too far you'll find the old Thistle Lancaster Gate which is closed down and boarded up. Don't Panic! :)

The restaurant was understaffed when we went for breakfast. My husband ordered a full English breakfast, and when it hadn't appeared after more than 25 minutes we gave up waiting. Unfortunately there was no member of staff around to chase it up!

Hotel reception was lovely, very clean and well presented. Once we got to the room though I was very disappointed, the room was freezing cold, we tried the heater (a small thing fitted into the ceiling) and nothing happened. It was warmer in the corridor! I did speak to the receptionist on our departure and I was told that it was an old building and a few people had mentioned the lack of heat! Fair enough if it is an old building but I did not pay 95 for a freezing cold room, I would have been more comfortable sleeping in the corridor!!

The hotel was in a ramshackled state, there was a crack in the window pane, the room was front facing the Bayswater road and was very noisy. The bath taps did not work and neither did the overhead shower, instead the only way of filling the bath up was through the tap shower attachment. The room was booked as a double however it was two single beds pushed together and the mattresses were very old and soft. We did complain about the bath but the staff could not fix it. We were offerred a different room but we were on a tight time schedule so couldn't move.
Overall a shabby, worn out hotel that is overpriced and misrepresents itself on the website.
