I tried to check in after booking a week ahead on line, to be told they had booked me into another of their hotels down the road 'The Royal National Hotel' - i was led to believe this was a sister hotel or in the same chain!<br />After being told to leave the Bloomsbury and walk down the road (with all my bags) and this other hotel will be expecting you. At the point i was incredibly disappointed but had high hopes for the new hotel!<br />On arrival the hotel was a 'shock'! Dirty and in poor condition. Backpackers and large parties of school children checking in - there was no one that knew anything of my booking.<br />I managed to sort a room which was probably the worst condition and cleanliness i have ever experienced and would ask my dog to stay in such a terrible place. With the hotel costing 70 per night says it all for the center of London.<br />I would recommend that you never use the Bloomsbury on your site in future and they did not accomodate my booking and were not helpful. I will not be recommending them of using them in the future - this has also led me to think i will no longer be using late rooms for future booking.<br /><br />Many thanks<br />Alex

This is a budget hotel in the centre of London. Just like most hotels in europe based in the centre of a historical major city, it is over priced for the facilities provided. However, the service was adequate, the cleanliness of the room was good. It is located on a main road so there is some road noise. <br />If you are looking for luxury, you will have to pay luxury prices, if you are looking for a room to sleep and store your stuff so you can explore the city, this place is ideal.

The room was booked with LateRooms as Double but was twin, was dingy and old decor<br />An accidental injury caused by a shard of glass in the carpet in the room was handled with indifference after the event - the response was 'speak to your solicitor'<br />I will definitely NOT be going back there<br />

Needed a clean, convenient, safe overnight stay after dancing the night away at a Tango Club and this place was just the ticket. Only a 10 minute walk away from the club in Wild Court, clean room, efficient staff. Great. The tango club was good too!

To go in the hotel was nice, the room was ok not worth the money though the only good thing about the hotel was it's in the west end. The bathroom smelled and the toilet was cracked and looked unsafe and thats before the hotel ran out of water, we could not shower or wash or even flush the toilet and there was no apology from the hotel when we left but they did give us a bowl of cold water 10 mins before check out which never really help as we had no water all night and morning. So all and all i would not recommend this hotel to anyone there are better hotels out there for cheaper and you would get better service.

Stayed here because of a good rate (not the cheapest by far!) but with the Thistle brand we thought we had a good deal.<br />The hotel is awful. The first room we went to on the second floor - smelled like a Hostel - the whole corridore was the same.<br />I asked to move and went to one of thier nicer rooms - but even that was abysmal - we woke up cold at 5am - no air/heating - and made our only possible cup of tea for the morning with the two tea bags and two milks !<br />Would never styay here again - ever.<br />Its not even the quality of a 'Budget' branded hotel and certainly not the 4* they claim - avoid

Although this hotel is a bit down at heel, it is in a great location - Covent Garden is within walking distance (10 mins) and the British Museum is just around the corner. The first room we we were offered was dark and dismal and in desperate need of decoration. The reception staff couldn't have been more helpful and moved us to another room, which although still in need of redcoration was clean. What sounded like an ancient air conditioning unit hummed loudly until about 1 am but if you can cope with that and don't mind that your room might be somewhat 'worn' (but clean) and can get a late rooms deal - it is provides good value for money and the hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Our room was on the 6th floor. The room was cold as there was no heat on when we arrived, and a std lamp not working. The room was still quite chilly even when the radiator was on max all night. This was possibly due to no double glazing. This also contributed to a lot of road noise during the night and early morning. The breakfast was excellent and made up for the dissapointment of the room, also a complementory bottle of wine in with the deal was a nice touch.

The reception staff including a manager whispered & pointed at the screen & our booking details when we checked in & clearly changed our room without any discussion with ourselves. When we got to the room, it was on the 4th floor down several narrow corridors tucked out of the way right at the very back of the hotel. It was a very small twin room & we'd requested a double. When we went back to reception to change it, the manager was very polite and apologetic & changed the room, blaming his colleague, who was no longer there, for the mistake. The room we ended up with was better but still grotty and smelled of damp and drains after flushing the loo. On the plus side, the bed was clean & the TV, heating and hot water worked! Not enough staff on at breakfast to keep up with service and buffet replenishment. 79 B&B + complimentary wine is a great price for the location, but the quality was still less than we'd expect from a Thistle.

The restaurant staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite despite being very stretched at the busiest breakfast times. The restaurant and bar areas are attractive. Check-in and check-out were both efficient and the staff at reception were also helpful, friendly and polite and even lent us an umbrella. Refurbishment still has to be completed but overall our stay was very pleasant.

Stayed here for 1 night as we were in London for a show. The hotel bar and lonuge was not open due to a re furb but looked as if it was going to be very smart. The rooms are what i describe as "tired" and are in need of updating, wallpaper peeling at the joints and a big burn hole in the carpet (room 209). The room was also quite small. The breakfast was good apart from the staff not replenishing the food fast enough, they where all very polite and helpful. Recommended as a cheap and cheerfulplace if your onlystaying one night. We paid 69, the walk in tarriff is a whopping 181, definatley not worth that.

The room was pretty basic, but the service from the staff was excellent. We were awkward customers in that we arrived very early (we had a wedding to get to) and we also asked to leave luggage with them the night before. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful and were able to accommodate all our needs. Would definitely stay again.

We arrived a little early and were asked to return at 1.30. We edid so to be told there was no room available and were offered a move to their sister hotel Euston Thistle, after 25 mins a taxi took us to Euston were we stayed at no extra charge in a 4* hotel. I've a feeling we had a narrow escape seeing some other reviews of this hotel which we booked thinking it was the Bonnington under its new name - Park Inn.

I arrived and the hotel claimed they had no reservation for me. This had happened to other guests also. After a fifteen minute argument they put me in a smoking room. But at 10pm I had little choice but to stay. Not going back there - or any of their chain. Disgusted by their attitude.

The breakfast (which was luckily included in the price) was the best part of our stay at this hotel. On our arrival we had to go back to reception after we'd been given a smoking room which smelt v bad and not for the faint hearted (or non-smoker!). We were given a non-smoking room, but the conditions were far from great. You could either have the room too hot or too cold and the bathroom certainly needed some maintenance work. We didn't feel that the room was worth the money we paid. Needless to say we shall not be returning.

Good value (for central London). Basic room, no aircon, but not too noisy and lovely and clean. Yes, it's well worn but for the money it's OK. Non-smoking room was very clean. Easy to find as well, I walked there from Fitzroy Square with no problems. Very handy for UCL if you're visiting the University.

Hotel is situated 15m walk from Covent Garden & 20m walk from Leicester Sq (providing you don't get lost!) We had a comfortable twin room situated at the front of the hotel. Traffic noise was not a problem, although this could have been due to road closures! Beakfast was great and all staff very friendly & professional. Overall - very good value for money & I would definitely stay there again.

If you expecting Thistle standard you will be disappointed, the hotel is in desperate need of a full upgrade. Breakfast room was the nicest part of the hotel.

I'm not sure whether I would reommend it to anyone or stay again as I found, that for the cost of the room, I would not have expected paper peeling off the walls and rising damp. The recptionist on checking out and checking in was great. I did struggle to find it as the directions weren't all that clear. For an overall grade I'd prob go for 3 out of 6....average. Thanks.

Our hotel room was very shabby - even though we were told we had been upgraded to a deluxe room! The hotel corridors were dirty and very worn. The bathroom ceiling and walls were marked with damp. During the night a steady water leak started from above becoming a torrent by early morning it was impossible to use the loo or the wash basin. We were unable to get a response from reception. In fairness the hotel refunded us half of the cost of our stay but the leak was clearly a long term problem. The food at breakfast was very poor.
