Did not live up to expectations nor advertising.

Checkin was smooth and uncomplicated. The room decor was fairly shabby (woodwork was bashed and scuffed, wallpaper was dirty etc) so the overall effect, despite being clean, was that the room had seen much better days.... such as in the advertised photo's; which, in my estimations, were taken at least 2-3 years ago if not longer.
There were no photo's of the bathroom. I could understand why because the bathroom was small and had a bath with brown stains and limescale build up.
Room service was prompt, even at 2am. The food was of a good standard and was still hot.
My biggest gripe came with checking out. The hotel cashier, after being repeatedly asked to clarify that the initial (Visa Debit) holding of funds (to cover the cost of our stay) had been cancelled once i'd settled our bill in full, eventually did so. Yet two days later this initial amount still appeared to be pending in my account and thus tied up funds which would otherwise be available. The hotel has eventually emailed confirmation that this has now been cancelled but only after nearly three hours of my own time being taken up to investigate paperwork and many phonecalls back and forth between my bank and the hotel. The result is that this pending payment will take a further 2-3 working days to release the funds in my bank and with little or no apology or offer of compensation of any kind from the hotel. Very annoying!

Very Pleasing - best stay I have had in London so far.

On arrival at the home, I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist (Leila) who went over and above in welcoming me. She made you feel that you were truly expected and truly welcomed into this friendly hotel. The layout of the hotel was uncomplicated, the room very warm, inviting and with everything necessary for a good break. The bar was excellent with a relaxed musical atmosphere, staff who were only too pleased to oblige and a fabulous view of Tower Bridge and The Thames. Sitting there in the dark evening watching the illuminated tourist canal boats going up and down was just so relaxing. The view from the bedroom window was also very good. The additional services this hotel offered were excellent - some of which I tried with pleasing results. Whilst I have seen some skeptical comments by others about this hotel, for me it rated highly and I would definitely stay there again.

Honeymoon

We upgraded to a suite and it was fantastic. The room was massive and very clean. The hotel is great and I have stopped there a number of times.
Couldn't fault the hotel, staff, facilities or location.
However this is the first time we have eat in the resturant and I have to say the food was a let down for the price and the waiter was very annoying. He spent most of the time refilling our glasses and asking if we were ok which is nice but he must have spent 15 mins over the course of the meal at our table and it felt like we were being watched whilst eating.
Apart from that, can't fault the hotel.

Excellent Value, professional staff, Good room, Iconic location

Very good value. Laterooms rate for this hotel on this night was much better than its local competition , hence why I chose it.
Have stayed before and would again.
Requested a quiet room when booking via Laterooms but was put next to the lifts and firedoors - which would normally get a big minus on C Service rating, but I went back down to reception to ask to change and was given an upgrade - which wasnt necessary but certainly very welcomed.
Couldnt ask for more - was more than satisfied overall with C Service.
Express check out worked very well and I received the posted receipt today - 2 days later. Very good facility
One always has to keep an eye on the local market rates, but The Tower tends to be reasonably good in this department and usually a solid choice if you need to stay in The City.
Have previously stayed in their rooms overlooking the Thames and Tower Bridge.
Stunning - IMHO.

Great location

I stayed at the hotel for one night at a special offer rate. I stayed due to the hotel's proximity to the location of my meeting the following morning. I was given a corner room on the first floor and had great views of Tower Bridge, Tower of London and the river. The room was a reasonable size for a London hotel and there was a bath with shower over. The room was comfortable but slightly old-fashioned while the bathroom looked better. Overall, I felt the room was fantastic value in a hotel in an amazing location.
I had a drink in the bar in the evening which has great views of the bridge and the river.

Room with a view

The hotel doesn't look too promising from the outside but was really nice once you get in the front door. The location, however, is really good and the view of Tower Bridge is very impressive. Especially so from the bar at night when it is lit up. I arrived at 9 am with the intention of dropping my bag and heading off to meetings. The receptionist suggested he check if there was a room ready and let me check in which was helpful. My room wasn't the most modern but clean and also had a great view of Tower Bridge. Tower Hill tube station and Tower Gateway were about a 10 minute walk which was great. Didn't spend long in the hotel but would return and it was great value.

Lovely Views

We did request a quiet room and one with not too far to go for my elderly mother. I wasn't sure of this had been taken into account as we were on the third floor and a long way from reception. On the first night there was quite a lot of loud music coming from somewhere, but the second night was peaceful. Having said that, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant was simply wonderful and as for the views of Tower Bridge, well they were priceless!

Room was fine and had a nice view over Katharines Dock. Staff were friendly and welcoming and
no complaints at all. As in all large hotels heating a bit too warm for my liking but I am aware that
others prefer it that way. Lots to do in the immediate vicinity with small reataurants and walks by the river to the Tower. Boat trips from Tower Pier and elsewhere to Westminster and Greenwich.

Had a free upgrade to an executive room with an amazing view of Tower Bridge. Were also brought up a complimentary bottle of wine as it was my wife's birthday. On the negative side the bar prices were ridiculously expensive £9 + for a JD and coke! Breakfast was only average and not worth the full price of over £20 each (we paid £10 each by getting vouchers from reception). Also needs redecorating-inside and out!!

Brilliant service

Each encounter with a member of staff produced helpful, friendly service of a very high level. Our room was on the small side but perfectly formed and, as it was only for one night, ideal.
The breakfast cannot be described as other than poor. Hot food served luke warm to cold and bacon of poor quality underdone.
Would I return, yes, for the setting next to St Katherine's Dock, the river and the quality of service.

Excellent overnight stay in first class location

I have stayed at this hotel several times but not for some years, when it was under different ownership. I have to say it looks an absolute dump from the outside (how did it get by planning?) but it's inside belies the exterior.
The rooms are very comfortable and quiet, despite the local traffic. The communal areas top notch and the car parking facilities first class, for central London. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the food, but I would certainly recommend the hotel overall.

When I checked in I was offered an upgade for a cost of £45 this was accepted and then I opened the room door and I could not believe that this was an upgrade? the walls had stains and the skirting boards and carpet were stained, the bathroom had seen better days and looked unclean.
I did complain and was given a refurbished standard room with no explanation of I had been given such a inferior room and charged for the privilege of looking out over the river thames or the tower? when asked no explanation was given

Have stayed in this hotel 4 times now ( under different ownership) and always enjoyed the stay. The view is spectacular in the front of the bridge, had a room on the side this time and was looking over st catherines dock and had a great stay. Staff are good , food excelent , rooms very comfortable. If you walk 5 mins. at the most you can catch the ferry to the o2 which takes you right outside and they provide extra return trips for shows, really recommend this as an easy way to get to the o2

A few bad points but would stay again!

The location is fantastic, could not be better. The views of tower bridge are amazing, and St Katherine's Docks means that there are plenty of bars and restaurants very nearby. The room itself was big and clean and good value for this part of London. We had a cooked breakfast in the morning which was great, lots of variety and high quality, particularly for a buffet. However, we found that the staff were rather arrogant and when we arrived we were told that our room wouldn't be ready for another hour, 3 hours after the stated check-in time. The biggest negative was the bed- the mattress was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever felt, luckily we were only there for one night as we may have well have slept on a concrete floor!
