Special Weekend

Our children bought us a ticket to Ghost for my wife and I to have our first weekend without kids for years. The Stafford was a very special hotel with really great service, lovely rooms and great food. This is a hotel for a really special break.

Staff to be very proud of.

The staff were very helpful, polite and courteous. Our stay was to short. The room was very elegant and very clean. We were looked after so much better than at larger more impersonal hotels. We hope to return in the new year.

Outstanding London hotel

Quite simply an excellent 5 star hotel. This was the first time we had stayed. Ideal for a base for a city break if you want to come back to get away from it all. Thoroughly agree with another reviewer who called it an 'oasis of calm'.
The service is unobtrusive and efficient, from concierges to room service. A definite 5-star hotel - as a comparator, the standard of the hotel and service are easily an equal to the 'old' Savoy. Staff are excellent, friendly and can't do enough for you.
Can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't dine there (but it looked good and had good write ups on other sites) but the quality of the food in the American Bar is impressive - although more relaxed food like burgers etc, the quality and presentation is first class. On room service - we only had a cup of tea but this was fantastically well presented (silver teapots, starched linen, three different types of shortbread, etc). Sign of a 'proper' hotel, in my view. The American Bar is quirky and the ideal place to start an evening - knowledgeable and efficient staff who make you feel at home.
The townhouse arrangement means there are rooms in the main hotel and also in two annexed townhouses which overlook a cobbled courtyard - we stayed in the main hotel and the room (a standard queen room) was great. Perhaps if you are used to vast hotel rooms, you might find the rooms on the compact side but that is down to the age and style of the property - certainly no smaller than most other hotels in the UK. The room was well laid out and the decor was impeccably tasteful. Very comfortable bed, effective air-con and a super bathroom. Spotlessly clean.
Very well located - 2 mins walk from Green Park tube, 5 mins walk from St James's Park/ Buckingham Palace. Plenty of interesting walks around the area if you fancy seeing the sights or relaxing in Green Park or St James's. About 30 mins walk to Harrods. 5 Min taxi journey to London Victoria (Gatwick Express) and not much longer to Paddington (Heathrow Express). Located in a quiet backstreet, you aren't far from the main action in Picadilly or the Mall.
Would recommend this without hesitation.

Lovely hotel, peaceful location, comfortable stay

We stayed at Stafford hotel on New years Eve. The hotel is in an excellent, quiet location but with a short walking distance to the very heart of London ( Leicester square , Trafalgar square and so on). Immediately impressed when they upgraded us free of charge to Deluxe King room on 4th floor. The member of staff who serviced to check-in was charming , friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with huge bed and lovely bath. The only down point is no coffee-making station in the room. All in all, it was a wonderful stay and we would like to come back again.

New Year's Eve in London

We stayed at the Stafford for 2 nights over New Year's, to cheer ourselves up after our long-scheduled trip to South Africa was cancelled by the snow at Heathrow. Excellent location... we walked to everything. The hotel is very charming..... a nice townhouse feel. The American Bar, and their staff, were esp welcoming. The staff were very helpful, esp when we wanted to retrieve our car before all the streets were closed for the parade on the 1st. As for the rooms, nicely decorated, but the beds were a bit uncomfy, and the bathrooms dated. But I understand they are about to rennovate, so all should be fine in the future.

Excellent!

The Stafford is somewher I will stay again. In a quiet Mayfair location, there are no tourists walking into the hotel demanding in loud voices various goods and services. It's either guests or those in London who like the quiet, personal, intimate nature of The Stafford who go there. Excellent staff, great service, great food, simply brilliant American Bar and quiet, comfortable rooms.

You don't feel in central london with this hotel set in a quiet no through road. Access to the outside court yard makes the stay all the more enjoyable in fine weather. Most of the major attractions are within walking distance. Theatre land is a leisurely 10minute stroll. A superb location without the need to use the Tube stations/Taxis to get around what pleases most visitors to London. A slice of London England at it's best.

Delightful Stay in London

The Stafford Hotel's room, service, and location are absolutely wonderful. The standard rooms were even luxurious and the hotel was situated near the beautiful St. James Park and not far from Soho, Convent Garden, and Fitzrovia which contain many wonderful restaurants and nightlife. I was traveling with a friend for her birthday and while the hotel perhaps caters for a slightly older, more distinguished guest we found the hotel was not at all pretentious, but warm and inviting. If given the opportunity i would most certainly stay at the Stafford again.
