Summary
Never used the tube to get around we were real tourists for the weekend and walked everywhere to see the sights even as far as Harrods Knightsbridge once we found our way round. Room very clean & when we got back from tiring day of walking see the sights the curtains were drawn, heating was on so the room was lovley and snug & chocolates on your pillows, lovley touch. Staff very freindly, breakfast fab however, I think it should be included in the price of the room. We have recomended this hotel to friends & family if staying in London if you dont mind walking to get to places but if you like using the tube it is 2 mins walk from hotel.
Summary
Second visit to this excellent hotel. Located perfectly for a leisurely weekend trip. Did not eat on this occasion as too busy with other plans but service and room very good. Offers great value for money. Left one constructive criticism, shower screen too small for bath which meant you had the risk of the bathroom becoming a wet room!!
Summary
Excellent location and good quality accommodation. Pub on the ground floor great for a drink and food. Room a bit short of hanging space.
Summary
Good features - excellent bed and bedding allowing a good night's sleep; good size room; good bathroom allowing a relaxing bath before going to bed; quiet location with very limited sound of traffic, despite being within 100m of busy London roads; attractive decor; excellent and unusual location so near to Westminster; small size of hotel and personalised service of staff
Not so good - very warm rooms (however the weather was unusually mild for mid November); breakfast was limited though sufficient; some sound penetration from neighbouring rooms; rather pricey; probably better value if visiting the hotel as a couple rather than as an individual
A great stay
Summary
We normally book a no frills hotel of around £115 and now paid a bit more. This gives you nice bottles with soap etc in the bathroom and bathrobes- things we really don't value much (sorry!). The room size was the same as in a budget hotel. So for us the price difference is not worth it, we just want a clean room in a central location. We would stay here again though if a cheaper room was not available.
Summary
I arrived late after flying into Stansted. The receptionist could not have been more helpful - found me an iron & board, sorted me out another room key when I locked myself out etc etc. Nice meal in the pub downstairs. Lovely room with positively the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in a hotel (or anywhere else for that matter). Lovely deep bath. I had an important meeting at 8 the next morning to which I had expected to arrive frazzled & tired but in fact I was well rested & raring to go. I only wish that I had had time to experience breakfast.
Summary
Lovely Hotel, staff where excellent, brilliant location and we even got a lovely card and box of choccies cos we where on our Honeymoon :0)...
Summary
A real gem. Very convenient for the tube and some major attractions. The room was lovely - large, comfortable, air conditioned and with good facilities such as robes, a fridge and water. Breakfast was excellent and a good range and choice of hot and cold food.
Summary
The room had character, air conditioning was also a main factor for me choosing this hotel. The rooms were large & airy and as a complete claustrophobic had a window that opened!! If you suffer the same as me you will know exactly how comforting that it. Bottled water was included in the provided in the room along with a good selection of tea/coffee and luxury bathroom treats. I was in a superior twin with my daughter so also had bathrobes to lounge in. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't want long corridors to walk along in some hotel built exactly the same world over.
Summary
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Sanctuary House Hotel in london.
All the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble such a change from some of the larger hotels we have previously stayed at.A smile makes such a difference.
The room we had was quite small but was spotlessy clean. The ensuite had all toiletries a bath a nd a very powereful shower with plenty of hot water.
The continental breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and of a high quality.
The hotel is adjacent to St James tube station and all the main sights are within walking distance.
Would stay there again.
Quite simply fantastic. Only five minute walk from Westminster Abbey, Houses of parliament etc and the hotel was spotless. Lots of extras that takes this hotel from being ok to excellent. It was the small things like someone checking at night if there was anything else we needed such as coffee, tea, etc. Next time I am in London I will definetly be using this hotel.
Summary
Excellent accomodation. Would return again.
Summary
Excellent , will use again. very central.I cant speak highly enough of this hotel.
10 out of ten
Lovely room, very clean with biscuits, tea+coffee making facilities and bottled water> really comfy bed, plenty of room. Efficient reception, which is 24hr, options for breakfast if we had wanted it.
We chose The Sanctuary House for it's Westminister location. We were delighted with our room which was well furnished, up to date and quiet.
An excellent cooked breakfast was well served in the Pub.
Couldn't fault the Hotel the only complaint would be the shower didn't quite come up to standard
Summary
Only 200 metres from St James Tube Station. Very efficient & friendly check-in. Comfortable rooms and beds. Excellent showers. Plenty of hot water. Continental breakfast is normally included in the room rate, but it's worth the extra to have the fully cooked breakfast. Book early. This is a rightly popular hotel.
Summary
We had a a very comfortable night at the hotel. A radio in the room would have been an extra bonus.
Summary
Great location for walking around central london. Close to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and close to underground stations (although we walked everywhere). Had an excellent weekend visiting theatre, attractions and then back to a warm, clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was good - either continental or full English. Plenty of hot tea and coffe topped up by waitress. Recommend this hotel without any concern.
Summary
Great Hotel Great Location - had requested an easy access room as i was on crutches and we were right next to lift. Excellent room very spacious and clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will stay again and would recommend.
Summary
I really love this hotel, the rooms are lovely, the staff friendly and professional and the location ideal for Westminster. There aren't any public rooms, apart from the pub that's connected to the hotel, but that really doesn't matter - I think it's great, and the pub does a great breakfast too.
Summary
Myself and my girlfriend stayed in the hotel for one night. The room was clean tiday and with good decor. The Hotel is good and the service was great. Would definately stay here again and with the discount makes it a great bargain.
Summary
Clean and comfortable, and a very good location for central London.
Summary
This hotel is great, its very clean, the receptionist is really friendly and helpful, its in a terrific location for walking in central London and it has a realy nice pub attached that do Fullers beer including my favorite ESB.
If I have any complaint it is that there was no information pack/book in the room for details of room service etc but more important no information on what to do in case of fire.
I mentioned this to the receptionist in the morning who was concerned and said she would look in to it.
Apart from that which I think was probably a "one off" its a really nice hotel and I would recomend it to anyone thinking of staying in central London.
Came to London late and tired, and felt welcomed and comfortable.
Summary
Good customer service and room was good
Summary
Excellent small hotel in quiet but central part of London. Noisy guests at 1 am need to be managed better
Summary
I was quite apprehensive about staying in this hotel, but my feelings disappeared as soon as I entered through the door. I have stayed in many hotels throughout the world so have quite extensive experience of large or small, luxury or basic hotels. The quality of the reception staff was excellent and I was dealt with in a very professional manner. The room I stayed in was very well equipped with satellite TV and a very comfortable clean bed. Staff at the hotel were fantastic and obviously see customer satisfaction as a high priority.
Usually if I stay in London, approx 5 – 6 times a year I stay at a large chain hotel just across the river. From now on The Sanctuary House Hotel will get my business and that of my friends and colleagues.
Job well done!
The hotel was pleasant and good size rooms for London. Receptionist was very helpful. Service for dinner wasnt great, they brought main meal before starter as they said they had big sitting to deal with. The proper beer made up for it thought. Service at breakfast could've been better too. But would definitely stay at hotel again. Very close walking distance to the tube and conference centre where I had my meeting.
Summary
I always liked this hotel when I usaed it for business purposes several years ago. On re-visiting we were not disappointed. The room (a superior double) wasn't huge - but that was largely because the bed itself was massive and very, very comfortable. The breakfast was more than adequate, and the convenience of the location (walking distance to the West End theatres) is a big plus. Then there's the added advantage of being right above a Fullers pub which sells a superbly-kept pint of ESB. Heaven!!
Summary
On the whole I had a good experience of staying at the Sanctuary House Hotel and would stay there again. The staff were extremely attentive as I had a few snags with my room. Firstly, the air conditioning system was faulty and was blowing out cold air in my room. I was trying to warm the room as the weather had turned cold. The staff made attempts to sort the problem and in the end offered me an alternative room. I decided to stay in the room as they had also brought me some blankets and the room warmed up when I turned the air conditioning off. I was then told that they would not charge me for my evening meal as complensation. They also said the air conditioning was about to be replaced. I had also asked for a synthetic duvet when I booked as I'm asthmatic and allergic to feather ones, but they had none, hence they gave me a sheet and some blankets instead. The member of staff said that it would be a good idea to stock synthetic duvets for other guests like me and would arrange this.
Summary
My daughter and I booked one night and loved the location, great room, very comfortable, staff extremely helpful, nice and quiet, really nice pub to have a drink before the theatre we look forward to coming again.
Summary
Was perfect location for my coach pick up which turned out to be just up the road from hotel. Only problem was that room was far too hot, couldnt open windows - health & safety, so didnt sleep well. Is above a pub so can be noisy too. Ok for one night.
Summary
I was extremely impressed with the young lady who greeted me by name as soon as I stepped foot in reception. The quality of the service was second to none, from check in to a small problem with my TV (v promptly sorted out) to room service to check out. I had the continental breakfast which was fresh and with reasonable choice for this vegetarian. The service was quick and unobtrusive and in pleasant surroundings (in the pub). Great location, very clean and comfortable and I shall definitely return next time I'm in London.
Summary
The hotel is a short stroll from Westminster abbey so ideally placed to visit the major attractions
Summary
Convenient location for a weekend break in London. Room was clean and comfortable.
Summary
It is a fairly old building so I could hear every footstep from other guests and rooms above; henceforth didn't sleep very well but there's not much you can do about that. Staff friendly, polite and the breakfast was lovely.
Summary
The Sanctuary House is on a quiet street, literally 2 minutes walk from Victoria Street from which you get a face-on view of Westminster Abbey and a vista including the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. We had a room on the second floor, which was pretty quiet despite only having single glazing, due to the hotel's quiet location. The hotel is owned by the Fullers brewery hence there is a Fullers pub with a decent selection of their ales, directly below the hotel. Not their most atmospheric pub though, no locals to speak of and it was clear that the clientele are passing through London on their travels. Staff in the pub and the hotel were helpful and friendly, even serving us drinks past closing time, as we were hotel residents. Room was fine and of a reasonable size, including the bathroom, although the 'drench' head on the shower badly needed descaling. Rack rate for the room was £250 and we paid about half that through Laterooms. All in all a reasonably good experience and a great location.
