The hotel was lovely unfortunately, had a couple who decided to bath together at 2am in the morning, and the bathroom was against the wall where my head was. rooms very badly designed.

I have stayed several times at The Petersham and every time is fantastic. There are never ever any complaints.
Summary
Stayed two nights for a trip to Kew gardens with my disabled grandma. Hotel very welcoming, twin room 105 was lovely. Looked out of the side of the hotel onto woodland so very quiet. Floors didn't creak and we couldn't hear our neighbours although the rooms were occupied. Public rooms all very clean and tidy looked recently decorated. Had an afternoon tea, dinner and two breakfasts in te restaurant. Service was excellent food even better. I had Venison one evening and it really was cooked to perfection. Views over the river Thames and a couple of grassy fields and green areas make it te ultimate place to relax. Airplanes heading to Heathrow go over during te day but stop at night and don't intrude. It was quite exciting eating afternoon tea watching huge planes fly over! I really couldn't have had a better weekend and intend to stay at the Petersham hotel next time I go to London. (although out of London centre the public transport is excellent to get back in to London).
Summary
We stayed for the Army / Navy match last weekend. The room was a basic hotel room with separate bathroom and toilet. There wasn't a separate shower and the water pressure from the over bath shower was terrible. The ornate mirror in the room was thick with dust and looked as though it had never been cleaned. There was a large gap under the door that let in both light and noise which we had to plug with the spare pillows. The only food we ate in the hotel was breakfast and the service was slow and the sausages overcooked and burnt.
On the plus side the view from the restaurant was very pleasant looking out over meadow and river.

We only stayed there 1 night after flying in from Canada. The location was excellent and it is a beautiful building steeped in history . The room was clean though smelt a little musty and the feather pillows were rather useless! The bathroom was lovely and looked like it had recently been refurbished. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food but it seemed very popular. I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again
Summary
We stayed here for one night, the staff were helpful and the location is perfect for walking along the river with great pubs and beautiful views, very clean and cosy room. Great for a weekend out of central London.

Top class hotel with friendly staff
Summary
Staying at the Petersham was a similar experience to slipping into the luxury leather interior of an Aston Martin. A beautiful old building with a gorgeous setting a stones throw from central Richmond with a view across the Thames people literally pay millions for. The staff were some of the best I have ever had the pleasure experience. Nothing was too big a chore for them which made the experience all the better.
Rooms were spatious and well decorated. The bed was a dream to sleep in... Literally! Bathrooms were spotless also. I could not recommend this hotel enough!
Very comfortable hotel, situated close to Richmond with views of the Thames. Ideal for exploring Kew Gardens, Hampton Court and Richmond
Summary
I visited The Petersham Hotel for a night on New Years Eve. I was impressed with our room it was so comfortable and clean and the bathroom was lovely and modern. The staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!
Summary
Friendly and professional welcome. Room clean, shower needs a boost!! Would have loved to stay at the Hotel for a little longer, so will plan a couple of days in Richmond as an excuse to do so in 2012! Would definitely recommend.
Summary
The hotel was as described, the staff are very pleasant and can't do enough for you, I recommend this hotel
Summary
The hotel is stunning, a great place to relax and unwind.
Summary
Its a lovely old place with views from the restaurant. Food is excellent and restaurant service very good. Lovely old world atmosphere, oil paintings on the walls etc etc and a bit exclusive being in Richmond on Thames - but then you pay for the priviledge as its not in expensive - like most fine things in life!
Very handy for the town, with the centre being only 5-10 mins walk, but you would think you were in the country - very pretty and green surroundings. I would recommend to business users and couples for the location and atmosphere - but probably not great for kids.
This is a great hotel. Clean, quiet, great service and great location. Would definitely stay again.
Summary
This hotel oozes class. It rightly deserves its accolades. I was given a lovely room at the back but still overlooking trees and gardens. It is a great hotel in a great location and ideal for an "occasion".
Summary
Stayed in the older part of the hotel which had a fantastic large bathroom, maybe we were lucky?
Great views from the hotel (not our room) across the Thames and friendly service, who didn't suffocate you into looking for a tip.
A nice place and would return
Superb old bulding with up to date facilities. Fantastic quiet safe and pleasant location.
Room clean and well appointed.
Price a little high just for room only but I guess thats London.
Tiny room for the money. In need of investment. Beds in particular poor with obvious plastic covers on mattress making the beds really uncomfortable. Will not be there again
Hotel and staff brilliant, food was excellent but servings were small and still felt a little hungry. Would definitely stay again.
Summary
A very comfortable room in a lovely location, wonderful views of the river. Very friendly staff. My only negative is the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Waking very early one morning I would have liked a cup of tea in bed but did not feel like getting dressed in order to call for room service. An alternative would be to provide a bathrobe I suppose?
Summary
The friendliest and most efficient customer service I've had in a very long time. Beautiful hotel, stunning location. Excellent experience and we will be back. Highly recommended.
Summary
We wanted a hotel for a romantic break and to visit Hampton Court and Kew gardens and the Petersham fitted the bill perfectly. It is situated overlooking the Thames at Richmond with great views of both the river and surrounding countryside from the room and the restaurant.
The rooms are modern and tastefully decorated and with the rest of the hotel retaining it's traditional quality hotel look and feel. Friendly and helpful staff ensured that our stay was as comfortable as possible with the restaurant providing food of the highest quality (Michelen standard) for both breakfast and dinner.
The staff were extremely attentive without being overbearing. We were given a room upgrade on arrival and had a beautiful view in a wonderful room. It is the first time I have ever taken a bath in a hotel, which was wonderful and the room/bathroom was immaculate. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend the hotel to all who are visiting the area. We would stay there again.
Summary
This Hotel is ideally situated for business in and around London, but without the problems of finding parking space and congestion charges. Richmond station is 40 minutes maximum from Waterloo Station. Situated on the edge of Richmond Park, with spectacular views of the Thames from the peaceful and wonderful restaurant, The Petersham allows the weary traveller the opportunity to unwind and recharge the batteries in a beautiful location.
Summary
The moment we drove up to The Petersham Hotel we knew we were in for a fabulous stay.Met in the carpark by attentive and friendly staff despite it being a very busy Mother's Day with numerous guests in their popular restaurant. Our room was delightful .... no view but that was not a problem when you walk out of the hotel and stride up Nightingale Lane to witness that iconic scenery down the grassy slopes and across the Thames as it curves towards Richmond Bridge.Magnificent. Superb accommodation with an excellent breakfast overlooking the Thames.Couldn't ask for better value for money and I have discovered my new favourite part of London.
Superb hotel, awesome views, excelent food, attentive staff, comfortable rooms, whats not to like ?
Summary
Had a good experience, room service was good if pricey, breakfast was excellent but spoilt a bit by the size of the room. Bed however was v good and this made up for the size. Would have like tea and coffee facilities in the room. I think if you are a 4* hotel this should be standard. Yes you could order it but they wanted £3.50 each. I always come prepared with a kettle and cups so this was not a problem but for the cost of the room it should definitely be standard. The position is lovely and very close to the tow path and less than 20 minutes walk into Richmond.
Summary
The concierge was very helpful. The room was comfortable, with lovely starched sheets, although a little soft! Breakfast was very civilised, and excellent (bar the coffee) It was very good value, and we would return. Location excellent too.
Summary
I wasn't sure based on the website for Petersham hotel, however was very pleased once I arrived. The hotel is on a hill and has wonderful views of the Thames. With a short 5 - 10 minute walk along the river to the centre of Richmond its a great location should you want to have a nice time in town but the tranquility and views of the countryside.
The staff were friendly and the restaurant was lovely with beautiful views to relax too. We had good in the restaurant and it is really worth the price very recommended.
The view from the dining room is absolutely stunning and makes it a delight to stay here.
Summary
I booked this hotel despite one or two (in my opinion unfair) reviews, suggestion it is run down. On approaching, you can't fail to be impressed with the building when lit up at night. The entrance is very grand and whilst I would concur that it might benefit from a refurb it is still a very grand hotel.
My room was adequate, the only (very minor) gripe being the shower wasn't quite the shot-blasting type that you get in boutique hotels (a personal preference, but certainly no major issue) - and perhaps in part as my room was on the top floor.
To concur again with other reviews, breakfast was very good, the service was superb, and the view was fantastic. Give me a full English cooked to order over the sweaty, slop that is heat lamped to death in modern chain hotels any day.
For the money (£140) you get a cracking hotel, free parking (short walk to the station - great for business meetings or sightseeing in the City), free wifi, and for a business traveller that has had a full mix of City hotels, this is a gem of a find. If you want the funky feel of a boutique then look elsewhere, but if you want something a bit above the average chain and not at crazy city prices then you'd not go far wrong here. Like the title says - a gem of a find.
This hotel has clearly had its day and needs money (lots!) spending on it. It is in desperate need of a facelift. It has a wonderful location, of course, and a great view of the River Thames from the restaurant (breakfast was good, by the way), but nothing else about this hotel stood out for me. And why on earth do hotels like this think it is acceptable to hire staff with almost no ability to speak the English language?
Summary
Lovely to find a hotel where breakfast is still serviced rather than self service.
Summary
Having seen this Hotel many times during my frequent stays around Richmond - Upon - Thames, I finally managed to book a stay through LateRooms at a very attractive rate.
The Hotel was absolutely great. Location, staff, views and quality of food. If I can manage to book at the same rate or near then I would chose this first. It is very easy to locate and the car park is spacious and private.
