Comfortable and satisfactory

We stayed here on Friday 27/4/12, having picked it out as a convenient place to stay as we were visiting the Globe theatre. Our room was at the back and therefore quiet. It was pleasant, clean and comfortable; the bathroom was also clean and provided free toiletries. We had a very satisfactory breakfast ( only available on Friday and Saturday night stays) in the adjoining Mad Hatter pub (traditional Victorian decor); the breakfast staff were very helpful (although the bar staff on the previous evening had been unsmiling), as was the receptionist on our arrival. It was only a short walk from the hotel to the Globe and we would stay there again if visitng the area.

Very good value

Good quality room and facilities for the price.
Far, far better than a Travelodge for about the same money.
I was particularly impressed by the breakfast. I only had continental, but there was plenty of choice including several types of fresh fruit.
I will definitely be staying here again.

Mad Hatter Hotel Review

This hotel is central but not in a shopping area, but it is not a long walk to the riverside/ tourist areas and tube. The hotel is between 2 tube stops and one is much closer than the other so it's worth asking. Staff were very nice and helpful. The room was pleasant with tea/coffee facilities and toiletries supplied. One downside was that we ordered a taxi via reception and it cost us £15 to get to the Barbican which was supposed to be quite close. I just used an online fare calculator and think it should have been nearer to £7. It may possibly have been due to other reasons but worth a note. The hotel was overall good value.

A good weekend location

I used here as a weekend stay and it worked for me. Good location to access most of London and the South Bank. Bar food is as expected but didn't try the breakfast as it seemed to be very expensive compared to the price of the rest of the menu. Room (202) was clean and quiet even though it was at the front. Would recommend here to others and I would stay here again myself.

Good Value Hotel

I wanted a less expensive hotel near the centre of London on the South Bank. I was very pleased with my experience. The staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable and larger than I might have expected. I had a small table which I was able to do work at too which was a bonus. My room overlooked the main road outside, but that was not noisy. I will certainly stay there again. The only small draw-back is it is not right on the door of a tube station. Be prepared for a short walk.

City break

Booked this hotel on the strength of good reviews from other guests, and they were not wrong. Good sized room with all the usual facilities minus a minibar. (no loss there). Traffic noise was not intrusive as Stamford Street is fairly quiet at night.
Ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel as not a huge choice of restaurants in the immediate area. Continental breakfast was fine, dinner was pub grub but well cooked and good value for London. Confusion can occur when ordering in the bar/restaurant as English is not the first language of many of the staff, but they are all very pleasant and helpful so not really a problem.

A decent hotel existing comfortably with a decent pub

I wasn't sure whether to expect a pub with a few rooms, or a hotel with pub-styled bar, but this is actually a conventonal pub (a perfectly pleasant Fuller's house, with a full range of the brewery's beers, albeit it one that, in itself, few would go out of their way to find, particularly when there are so many classic pubs nearby) and a conventional hotel.
I was early but the receptionist found me a room already vacant. It was clean, pretty spacious, with tea, coffee, biscuits and so on, plus the welcome touch of Sky Sports on the TV in addition to the usual free to air channels. The pub had the standard Fuller's fare, but there was nothing wrong with the pie and perfectly cooked vegetables I had in the evening.
Located near the river and within ten minutes of Waterloo one way, Borough and London Bridge the other, with all the characterful pubs and features therein, it made for a good place to stop for a night or two.

Great little place to stay

Read other people's reveiws before booking this and they were pretty favourable. As other reviewers stated this hotel is within fairly easy walking distance of Waterloo, be warned though - once you've located Stamford Street the Mad Hatter is at the far end, furthest from Waterloo. The closest tube station is Southwark. The staff were very accommodating, the food good and room perfectly adequate. The only criticism was that the room was very hot and stuffy, this had obviously been an issue before because there was a fan and table top air conditioner in the room which helped. All in all this was a great, central place to stay and I would go back.

If you want to be near the Globe, Tate Modern or any of the South Bank attractions, and your budget is restricted you probably couldnt do much better than the Mad Hatter. @ £50/person/night we had a perfectly acceptable twin room, with all the trappings you would expect: decent TV, tea, coffee and biscuits, nice toiletries. The staff were helpful, the place was clean and the breakfast up to standard. Dont go expecting luxury or trendy boutique stylings.

In general the place is excellent. I deal location, within zone one.

Literally a sones throw away from the tate modern, a few really nice local pubs dotted about, which sell a massive range of cask ales. Hotel was informative but blunt. The breakfast you couldnt fault at all, just what you need in the morning to set you up for the day. Room was generally very clean, but could have done with a deeper clean. all in all really good. The hotel was literally a stones throw away from the tate modern and very easy to get around london on the underground.

Liked the hotel it was very close to everything of interest.
we went and did london dungeons, london eye and went for a night out in convert garden which were all very close so i have to say the location was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. the only gripe i had if possible was that the bathroom was a bit outdated and could do with being modernised. the room itself was fine. However i would have felt ripped off if i have had paid the £180 standard room rate. we paid £85 (for one weeknight) which was very fair. but would definatly recommend to people looking to visit these attractions.
Can't comment on the food as didn't eat there so look to other reviews for this !
