Wonderful food

We ate in the Nippa on the Saturday which was wonderful. Great service and the best Thai
food in London. On Sunday we ate in The Island and had a fabulous meal again.
The only thing that marred our stay was housekeeping waking us up hoovering at 10.30
Sunday evening outside our room and when requested to stop.,continued after I had close the
door.!! At the second request they did stop. Someone should tell them that if it was necesary to
pick something up a brush and pan would have been a better option.
Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay.

Decent 4 Star in central location

Staff very polite. Very quick check in. Luggage arrived in my room 2 minutes after me.
I have stayed here before whilst stopping at a function within the hotel. This time I stayed because it was close to another venue I was attending that evening. it was over priced but everything was that evening. This may have been because the National Television Awards were being filmed that evening. I chose this hotel as I knew i would get a certain standand and as a lone female traveller - safe. Bed very comfortable. Room generically decorated but clean. Cannot fault really. Would stay again.

This is a beautiful hotel, very clean and the staff are very helpful. We were lucky enough to be on the 14th floor with a partial view of Hyde Park and a fantastic view of the London skyline. The location is perfect as the underground is right beside the hotel for easy access to all the sites. We didn\'t eat at the hotel so can\'t comment on the food. The only complaint I have is that the room only rate was a little expensive (we paid £118 per night).
We will stay here again though.

After the accommodation

Whilst staying at the Lancaster London everything was great rooms wasn't as expected but still better than other hotels I've stayed in. The only real problem was the bill I received after our departure, which wasn't alot but was unexpected and put a bit of a downer on the Lancaster although the credited the balance it still made me think what a disappointment .

Check you have been given the room you requested.

I had booked and paid for a city view room, but was initially given a room overlooking the rear of the hotel, which was also a very cold room. I had to bring this to the attention of the hotel staff and although this was successfully resolved, it should not have happened in the first place as the type of room I requested was clearly stated on my booking confirmation. Also beware, the hotel bar and restaurant automatically add a service charge to your bill, which I believe is unnecessary, as well as expensive. There is a great little cafe just opposite the railway station,(used by the railway work force/people were queuing to be seated) which does good basic food at a reasonable price. For eating out, my mum and I had booked a show at the Royal Albert Hall, where we also ate, which I would recommend. Other than the above this hotel is in great location, the staff are courteous and when you do get the right room, the views are great.

A beautiful hotel with very good staff but disappointed with the size of the deluxe room.

The room on the 15th floor had a great view but disappointed with the size of the room considering it was a deluxe room. The bar bill was extremely expensive but I suppose you expect this at such luxurious hotel. Really good staff and a great location.

A little disappointed

Reading the previous reviews that the hotel boasted views of London's iconic landmarks, I was disappointed that our room didn't. The bathroom was that small that you had to open the door to get in and close the door to get to the toilet. Can't help but think that we booked a bargain and got a 'tesco value' room. Booked for a romantic getaway, I was a bit miffed. The room would of suited a single traveller more so.

Lancaster London

A very nice hotel but, as you would expect from a Central London hotel, the rooms are not particularly big. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location great if you want to shop, being a short walk or taxi from Oxford Street, Bond Street and Queensway. The fact that it is opposite Hyde Park is also a bonus for those who want to blow the cobwebs out with a walk.

One night stay

Stayed one night for Bon Jovi concert in Hyde park June 2011. Perfect location, easy access from tube station and able to walk directly across the road to Hyde Park. The reception staff were very helpful and we were able to get into our room on the 16th floor before 2pm. Although our deluxe room was not very big, It was clean and tidy and had a partial view of Hyde Park. Ate lunch in the Island restaurant, we didn't have a reservation but it wasn't very busy anyway, they stuck us out of the way in a corner. The service was very slow but the food when it came was good and quite reasonably priced. Beds comfortable but hotel very noisy, other guests on our floor (very, very large family group took up half of the floor we were on, slamming doors, talking loudly in corridors etc). Had the A La Carte breakfast the following morning which was good and a cheaper alternative to the £15.50 buffet option for us. Overall a good stay and would consider using this hotel again due to its excelent location and reasonable price in comparison to some other central London hotels.

Excellent overall

Check in was painless. They had assigned me the room I had requested, which was great. There was no power in the room on arrival but it was sorted out within 15 minutes. The rooms were a little cold but quickly sorted with the air conditioning. Food in the Island restaurant is excellent (went there for both breakfast and dinner). Very handy for Lancaster Gate tube station, and nearly always plenty of taxis just outside the front door. £6-£10 to almost anywhere. And brilliantly handy for Paddington, if you're getting the Heathrow Express. Maybe could do better deals to improve value, but you get what you pay for.

Excellent stay very handy for shopping/theatre etc as underground station right outside.

The only fault I have was when I checked out. Initially the receptionist took my bank card (for deposit of £365) I was not told this was teken out of my bank card. When I came to check out I did not have enough on my bank card so it was rejected. Fortunately I had another credit card with me but this was highly embarrassing as it was a birthday present for my best friend. They should let you know that money is put into a holding account when you check in!

We stayed a second night after being left stranded in London due to problems with Virgin Trains at Euston Station. The hotel were really helpful in getting us a room at late notice i.e. 20.30 in the evening. When we arrived back at the hotel shatered the receptionist was wonderfully helpful. The rooms are a little on the small side and some of the decor is a bit dated, but overall they are clean and tidy and what you would expect from a large city hotel.

Will stay here again

Enjoyed my stay. Warm, quiet, clean, excellent location. My only gripes are that they were mean with the toileteries. I would expect more, of a higher quality and separate shampoo and conditioner as a basic. I also think you could do a deal and include breakfast. £25 on top is not good. But all in all a good stay. Will try the restaurant next time, looks like good value.

This is a good hotel. It is a little on the pricey side but I expect this is because it is excellently placed for Paddington Station (5 minute walk) and the Central Line tube (2 minute walk). The room was big enough, traditionally decorated and very clean. Would have like the toiletries to be a bit more upmarket but that's just me!

Room very average - would not describe as 'executive' accomodation.
TV on glass stand at side of bed - made any potential viewing awkward both from position of sofa and from bed - why not mount it on the wall and save a bit of floor space too?
Bathroom adequate, but very small - a lot crammed in to the space - glad I was on my own!

Poor facilities and value for an "Executive" room

Booked an executive room on the top floor (room 1816). Not particularly large as shown on the hotel's website and we encounered the following problems:
1. There was no mirror of any descrption in the room, only in the bathroom. Consequently when my wife wished to use the hairdryer we had to send for an extension cord, plug it in in the bedroom and lead it into the bathroom where, for obvious reasons, there were no plugs. Since we were in London to attend a "black tie" dinner, we had to check our appearance in the reflective doors of the lifts!
2. We ordered a Daily Telegraph for each morning but got a Daily Mail.
3. The room was "turned down" in the evening only once during our 3 night stay.
4. The two pin European plug was not working. Fortunately we had brought an adaptor from our home in Spain with us so I was able to recharge my mobile phone.
5. The tea and coffee welcome tray was sited in a position where there was not a single electric plug. We had to move the TV and relocate the tray next to the TV in order to boil the kettle.
6. There was no drawer space for unpacking clothes, only very small, shallow half drawers beside the bed and in other cabinets. These were suitable only for small items.
7. On our arrival, whilst there were two bathrobes provided, there was only one pair of slippers. This was corrected later on the first evening.
These points may seem small and insignificant taken seperately, but this is not the service I expect when booking into an "Executive" room of a four star hotel in central London. We made our disappointment known when checking out but have heard nothing from the hotel since. I don't think it was value for money and was very disappointed.

Although the hotel itself is grand the room we were allocated was of no better standard than, say, a travel lodge type room, ok for the price we paid given the comments below.
