Hotel Review

The hotel was very clean and overall we were impressed. Our only negative comment relates to our room which was next to the lifts and we were disturbed every time it operated.

Basic good value accomodation

The hotel is by no means luxury but it is an excellent value for money hotel in a very good location. It is similar to the large chain value hotels but with the added bonus of a pool and breakfast included. The rooms are basic but very clean.

Convienient Stopover

Very convenient for Paddington Station. Would have been nicer to have had a real cup of coffee in the morning rather than instant

The staff were very friendly and breakfast was marvellous. Self service breakfasts can be a gamble; plenty of tasty choice here and good coffee too. We had a pre-breakfast swim. Our only regret is that we didn't pre-warm the sauna.

I would stay again even with my reservations

Room was very small with trains at the back, but good to have a pool in central London at a sensible price which is why I would return. Hot breakfast was only bacon and scrambled eggs, both of which were cold.

Good value in a convenient location

On arrival at the Henry VIII hotel we were greeted by a very helpful receptionist who booked us in without fuss and pointed out the location of the restaurant (for breakfast) and the free swimming pool for use at our convenience. Although the hotel reception area was a little tired, we do know the interior and exterior are currently being refurbished. On entering our room, although small and a double (we had booked a twin room) it was very clean, tidy and warm. There were plenty of clean large towels in the shower/toilet and the water was nice and hot and the shower worked very well. Two things let the room down, The carpet at the foot of the bed was badly frayed and the TV was up on a shelf and could not be viewed from the bed unless in was lifted down onto the dressing table. Being that the room was very small you were unable to view the TV from anywhere but the bed. There was a trouser press and coffee/tea making facilities all neat and tidily presented.
The corridors and public rooms were clean and tidy, Breakfast was fine with plenty of hot and cold choices of food to choose from. The waiting staff were very pleasant and helpful and the dining room was clean, tidy and well decorated.
Would be very happy to staqy here again in future.

Rip -off

This hotel took advantage of the tube strike and charged £183 for me to sleep in a cupboard sized room with worn carpets and the poorest television I have seen in a hotel for years. Staff were pleasant and breakfast reasonable. No dinner arrangements and restaurants a few hundred yards away which could be a nuisance in bad weather or for the less mobile. Peaceful and good location.

Value for money?

Book the hotel for one night stay with my daughter as treat after a dancing show. The room was very small and shabby. Marks on carpet and chipped furniture. Upon arrival found hotel only accepted credit card which I didn't have so had to pay bill in full before allowed into room. £20 deposit reguired again credit card required. Staff directed me to nearest cash point, not quite what I wanted to do after just arriving. Swipe card for room didn't work once. Pool very small and sauna not working (reason chose this hotel). Best value was the breakfast.
