We were really looking for somewhere as a base as we had a number of things to do over the weekend in London - the trip was partly business, partly leisure. What we liked most was that the hotel was of a high standard at a good price, and in an excellent location.

Super Hotel, very impressive entrance Hall and nicely refurbished throughout. Booked in early and staff were accomodating as found a twin room available next to ours for the boys. We were able to leave our bags in hold whilst attending event before room was available. As we were on the 6th floor the lift was perfect. Rooms did not dissapoint and very soundproof, we all had good nights sleep. We enjoyed an evening meal in the Restaurant, very well cooked, all fresh as was Breakfast the following morning. Slight mix up with Breakfasts I had already prepaid for them upon arrival with the room, but this did not show up on room list when entering Restaurant in the morning, so was turned away, and had to go back to reception to clear this up. However enjoyed our stay and would use the Hotel in the future and recommend to friends.

Great location and fresh looking rooms in a historic building.

Ideal for Victoria and surrounding area, the hotel is newly refurbished and the rooms of a high standard of fitments and cleanliness. Breakfast good but busy at peak periods. Would stay again and I look for this in laterooms as it is vfm.

A fleeting overnight business stay

Room booked through LateRooms.com at a good price. Room well appointed and of very good standard. However, a little small and I would have been disappointed if I had been paying the full amount for a room that size.

Stay at the Grosvenor

I had a lovely stay at the Grosvenor in December. Would definitely recommend to others. Our room was very spacious, great decor, offered a hair dryer (thank god as i forgot mine) a wardrobe and an amazing bathroom!
I also called room service in the morning for a blackberry charger and the guy came up to my door with one! Excellent service. Also we went out the night we stayed and the concierge had a cab waiting for us when we got to reception! overall a great hotel, efficient staff and clean modern rooms!

City Break

A really nice Hotel and staff were very helpful.
The only disappointing things were really just little niggles, e.g. 2 of us sharing the room but only enough milk for a drink at night not enough to have one on waking the next morning and usually most hotels put a small pack of biscuits on the tray. In the bathroom there was only 1 tiny shower shower gel.

Terrible.

We were kept waiting for hours to check in (well after the advised check in time). We asked how long it would take for our room to be ready, they advised 15 minutes, then half an hour, then an hour, and this continued until 4 hours had passed of being fobbed off and us hovering around the local area. This ruined 1 day of a 2 day getaway. As compensation they offered breakfast for a reduced rate of £10. This was already offered to us when we tried to check in initially. Terrible customer service, and very poorly organised.

Has Potential!

Over time, if the management can iron out the quirks, this could be a gem of a hotel on the London landscape. It has pole position in Victoria station. Quirks include, the quality of the renovation will tire quickly I would be afraid. The bathroom fixtures such as the mirror is hanging off the wall in room 516. Can anyone figure out how to turn the water in the shower onto the overhead spout? As a result, the taps in the showers are already damaged as guests are obviously pulling and pushing the fittings in a vain attempt to get the water to come out the top! The 10 pound weekend breakfast is a good deal once they sort out the heating in the restaurant. The queues for food are another quirk. I joked with the waiter that if there are 200 guests eating 2 eggs each and he has one dish for eggs which holds 10 at a time, he has to refill it 40 times so no wonder the queue is long and full of hungry guests. The point seemed to be lost on him. The tickets from reception for breakfast is a tiresome inefficiency in this day and age. I should mention though the great beds! Hope you like yours extra hard. But all in all, this really has the potential to be a winner. I wish the owners every success as they have not skimped on the refurbishment. To be fair, this is one of the best hotels I have stayed at in London for this price.

4 star hotel two star room

We booked a standard room through laterooms.... the one allocated smelled of smoke and had scratched furniture. We had to pay £20 a night to upgrade to a 4 star room which was galling! Then the hotel did not have details we had paid for breakfast which was embarrasing both days at the dining room and on checkout. We had one evening meal which was lovely but the service was so slow we were offered a free drink to compensate. Beautiful hotel which could easily have received a great review but for these problems!

Hotel was being refurbed but it had no effect on our visit however we were a little let down by breakfast. we ordered room service and between 2 adults we had 1 slice of toast 5 preserves 2 cups of coffee and 4 pastries... no choice of tea or coffee or fruitjuice???
On a previous visit this was not the case and we had an enormous choice???
I notified reception of this...

The hotel was lovely but it was very chaotic, they were having a refurbishment and there were painters, builders everywhere. The window in our bedfroom was broken so it did not shut and there was no literature in the bedfroom so we had no idea where anything in the hotel was as the receptionist told us nothing.I paid £190 for the two of us which I think was well over the price I should have paid considering the refurbishment. I also had a drink in the bar which was £20 for two drinks

I stayed on Saturday, its now Wednesday and the hotel still owe me £200, I am still calling them and to no avail.
Terrible service, probably illegal pratice and would highly recommend you try somewhere else.

Our London break

The entrance foyer and reception area gave a feeling of exclusinvness which all dissapeared when we entered our room ( 230) It was worn out. The carpet was threadbare in parts and the bathroom was so shabby we were reluctant to use it. There was no safe , no teasmade, not enough towels for two and so the scaffold outside the bedroom window ( which we could have accepted as improvement work in progress )with yellow coats left there over the time we were there made the experience most unpleasant. Sorry but that's the truth.

A great weekender

Both myself and my dad stayed at The Grosvenor Hotel, just for the weekend, for a special theatre trip.
We were treated well on arrival, with staff offering information about checking in and out and breakfast.
Our room was in the newest part of the Hotel, and offered an adequate about of space, for both of us. But we did think the bathroom was very cramped, and unsuitable if you suffer badly with claustrophobia, as it was very small.
Room did come with LCD tv, coffee and tea making facilities and very comfy beds, but was informed online, when booking that wifi was available through out the hotel, but was told that if we wanted to use it, would cost us an additional £6 for use of 90mins! Bit steep if you ask me.
All in all, enjoyed our stay, hotel is of very old vintage, with antique style in the original building and up to date furniture in the new wing. Value for money if you can catch a good deal online.

Perfect location but...

This was a treat so I booked an executive room. The room was(for London) a decent size, and the decor was good, but it was let down by details. The hospitality tray -4 milk portions, no choice of beverages, no water, no biscuits - things you would usually find in a 3* hotel.
No room folder or information; no bathrobe(as advertised on web site). Maybe hotel policy, but more likely a housekeeper not doing their job, and spoiling the overall experience.

Very convenient

The Grosvenor is a well-maintained example of our railway hotels in their heyday in an ideal location for the Belgravia/Westminster areas of London. The rooms are good and clean. My only criticisms are that the "Wing" is served only by one very small lift (elevator) for a large number of rooms on various floors, and we experienced long queues for breakfast - even well bfore 9.00am at the weekend.

Very good indeed to get this quality of hotel for this price in London. There was a bit of confusion over the optional continental breakfast that you can select on the laterooms site but it did all get sorted pretty quickly (take your print out from late rooms with you) and everything else was excellent. I'd certainly stay here again, it's infinitely better than anything else you are likely to get in London for this money.

We arrived by coach and it was just a 5 minute walk, we did a rail excursion and the hotel has its own door leading directly onto the staion concorse. Our room was on the 4th floor and refurbished, it was bright and clean although a little small for a double.
The bathroom was immaculate and the shower worked well. The general cleanliness of the public spaces was excellent and the staff were polite and helpfull...our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.
