A pleasant stay - efficient use of limited space - good breakfast - parking options limited - quite quiet - well decorated - good bathroom - the upgrade to the rooftop room made it all the more enjoyable

I travel a lot for work and and have fairly good idea of value for money on hotel accom. On the whole not a terrible hotel for the price but lets itself down on the detail and fails to be honest on their descriptions.I paid £155 for room booked a Kings Size double ("Executive room") for an extra £15 over a standard double. 1st win - when I arrived with my partner were met by a friendly receptionist.2nd win - they had to my surpise upgraded us to the "Top room" supposedly the best room in the hotel with a roof garden terrace (shame it wasn't summer) - partner loved it.3rd win - on the whole room very clean and asthetically pleasing.4th win - DAB radio in the room.5th win - complementary bottles of water1st problem - key got stuck in the door and couldn't get it out (which totally killed the moment). Tried to move but they were apparently fully booked.2nd problem - Lovely large bed apparently was in fact two single beds put together on a kings size base - this moved in the night and meant that my partner and I had to sleep on separate sides of the bed - a real disappointment for such a nice looking setting.3rd problem - no mini bar4th problem - Morning receptionist refused my request for a discount on our night's stay on a bed that wasn't a king size and said we should have complained before sleeping for the night?? Could have been trained to handle it in a slightly better way. Do not expect receptionists with the professionalism that you'd find in a large chain hotel, but they are relatively amicable non the less.5th problem - the advertised prices of rooms at the reception were approx £255 for standard double to £275 for the "Top room" which said to me that the hotel is essentially over valuing itself in the market place. You can stay at the Wyndemere 5 star Luxury Hotel next to the river with all the perks for this amount of money. You should certainly not pay more than £155 for the top room let alone that amount for a standard double room. However location is good if your a tourist needing a room to crash for the night.ConclusionI think this hotel is relatively reasonable but is advertising itself as a luxury boutique hotel. A better decription would be a modest modern style re-furbished town house in a good location of London. If your a couple and like to cuddle when going to sleep, ensure you confirm that your bed is in fact a double and not two singles put together before booking! :o)
