Stayed in executive king room, very nice, but had pre-paid and could not check-in at 2pm as room not ready, did not get into room until 3pm,was told to sit and wait and receptionist would let us know when room ready, this did not happen, after 45mins I had a word with a different receptionist as the first one was busy, after nearly 15mins and the receptionist going up to check the room themselves,we were given our key.

Enjoyable stay

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in a club double room. We were seeing a show at the Savoy theatre, which was literally over the road - ideal location. There were numerous restaurants and bars within easy reach - The river was a 2 minute walk away and covent garden 2 minutes in the opposite direction. The 2 bars in the Hotel were really comfortable and the service was excellent. Breakfast was fantastic and well worth having, but think it should have been included in the price of the room. The room itself was very clean and functional. It was a little on the small side, but for a city break it was fine. Beds were very comfortable. The Doorman was welcoming and the reception check in process was simple.

Room was functional, clean and perfectly adequate but I was expecting something a little plusher bearing in mind the normal rate is several hundred pounds. The discounted amount actually paid, £140, was fine for the quality of room and the excellent central location. Service at Reception was friendly and helpful.

'Old Girls' Reunion

Each year five school friends meet in a different town, this year we chose the Strand Palace in London. The three rooms (including a single) were of a high standard as was the food, but it was the customer service which set it above and made our stay enjoyable. Everyone wanted to help. The hotel is central for theatreland, transport and I can certainly recommend it as a base in London.

Nice hotel small rooms but great location

This is a lovely hotel . you really are as central as you can get to the west end around the corner from covent garden and opposit the savoy . its only 5 min walk to covent garden tube . the rooms are furnished to a high standard and very clean will all the ammenities you would expect the bathroom is a very good size for a london hotel and plenty of towels and toiletries provided. the best thing about this hotel is the view you can see right down the strand . didnt sample the food but they do have vending machines on the floor with crisps chocolate and paracetemol which can come in very handy .

One night stay to attend ROH

I have stayed at this hotel previously and my second visit on 29/7/11 was again more than satisfactory. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location is excellent, affording easy walking to Covent Garden and surrounding areas. My friend and I enjoyed a glass of Prosecco in the Mask Bar after the theatre which we did not think was over-priced at £6 (per glass). All in all, a very enjoyable stay and I look forward to returning before too long.

Needs Air Conditioning & soundproofing

A very nicely furnished and decorated single room. Would have been excellent but for two things.
It was admittedly a very hot night but the lack of air conditioning meant that I had to have the portable electric fan that I found in the bottom of the wardrobe on all night. I did try opening the window but, due to the very central (and convenient) location of the hotel this was far too noisy. The only good thing about having the fan on was that it helped to mask the sounds coming from the room next door as the walls were very poorly insulated for sound transmission.
These drawbacks were a pity as otherwise I might have wanted to return.

One night at the Strand Palace . . .

Just needed a bed for the night during a busy weekend - didn't use the restaurant at all, or any of the other facilities.
Positives - checked in by a very pleasant and helpful trainee. Rooms have been refurbished since we last stayed (they needed it) - they have done a good job!
Negatives - queue to check in (manager did come and apologise, but I reckon it is quite a frequent occurrence. When refurbishing the rooms, they shoyld have put in air-con as our room was very warm - the only way to cool it was to have the window and shutters (no curtains) open.

Wouldn't hesitate using this Hotel again

On arrival, the reception staff couldn't have been any nicer and our room was ready even though we arrived at 12noon and it state rooms aren't ready until 2pm. We were given a brief run through by the receptionist telling us how to get to our room which was helpful. Our room was on the 8th floor and although small, the room had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean with toiletries and lovely thick towels in the bathroom. As this trip was for a 50th Birthday Celebration, a complimentary bottle of Champagne was left with a note wishing me a Happy Birthday....lovely touch by the hotel. We basically used our room for sleeping as we had planned the trip with lots of sight seeing etc and theatre shows. The conceirge service was also first class and I noted that they were helpful and catered for most languages. The doorman was lovely and pleasant and called a taxi for us when required. On the last evening we decided to have dinner in the Hotel in Brannigan's Brassierie. This again was really nice and I would visit this restaurant again. On our last morning we decided to have breakfast in the hotel. Breakfast was fab and we had such great choices. All in all, we had a fab experience and wouldn't hesitate booking this hotel again. Planning a ladies weekend getaway in September and will book the Strand Palace. I will also recommend the Strand Palace to others when visiting London. Great Experience :)

Strand Palace Hotel review

Check in process was not great, staff not very helpful nor friendly, on getting into room it was very hot and very small, we were on the 9th Floor, on complaining to reception we were told no rooms had air-conditioning and that the hotel was 100 years old!
We had a very bad first night, neither of us could sleep, so I rang down again and spoke to Housekeeping who could not do enough to assist, we were moved into a room on the 4th floor which was so much better.
The position of the hotel was great you are 5 mins from the theatres, Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square, so I would recommend it for convenience. We were just unlucky that it was a hot time when we visited London.

One night in London

Checked in with a very charming man who couldn't have been more helpful, our room was on the seventh floor so well away from the hustle and bustle of London, Room was lovely and clean and had everything that we needed for our nights stay. We didn't spend much time in our room but what little we did was very comfy.
We did treat ourselves to a naughty cream cake for our supper, so it was very helpful having Tesco across the road so we could purchase some "proper" milk to have in our tea's with our midnight cake fest!!! while catching up on Coronation Street.... I slept like a baby in the lovely comfy beds and the bedding felt like Egyptian cotton it was so so and very clean. Only downside was the room was very hot and we had the windows open to their maximum.
The next morning we went for a wander around and found a "greasy spoon" cafe for our breakfast then headed back to the hotel to pack. The very handsome doorman or con-siege? flagged us a taxi down to get back to the station on time.
Overall we had a fantastic time in London made all the more special by our wonderful stay at The Palace Strand Hotel. Once again thank you. XX

So, so happy that when my room was not ready, because of an early flight, they immediately offered me a double room as a free upgrade: this is true service to customers!
Room always clean and comfortable. Hotel around the corner from Covent Garden and several theatres.
Although this time I did not have breakfast: the breakfast is usually crowded, but very very nice!

Cockroach in room

My room was fine; a double Club room with all the expected facilities. What I wasn't expecting was to find a large cockroach in the bathroom. I took this down to reception in a laundry bag, and got the impression that the night manager was not particularly surprised. I was offered a change of room, but no compensatory reduction in price, free breakfast, etc. which would have made me feel that the hotel cared about their guests' experiences there.

We only ate the Breakfast in this hotel because it was in with the price ...The first impression was very good, plenty of choice, cereal, bread, toast, a cooked choice, but the taste of it all was poor...no WOW factor , very bland, no flavour..Disappointing. The Hotel has a great location to the theaters, restaurants, and popular tourist sites....Door Man lovely and polite...and Conceirge was very helpful. The Room was clean and tidy, a bit stingy on tea and coffee facilities...Would stay here again.
