Great location, lovely hotel

Didn't have very high expectations but was very impressed with this hotel. The location is just a short walk from Goodge Street Station, really close to the West End, the hotel was clean & our room was lovely with a modern en-suite bathroom, the bedroom wasn't huge but we weren't planning on spending a lot of time there so it was ideal for our requirements. Would most definitely stay here again!

Great little hotel

Stayed at the Staunton just for one night with my daughter but wished we could have stayed longer. Very convenient for Euston Station just a ten minute walk away. Impressed with the area. Easy reach of Oxford Street and central London. Hotel very comfortable warm and cosy. Breakfast lovely and staff very friendly and welcoming, Would certainly recommend to friends and will book again when next in London.

Great for one night stay

I simply wanted somewhere to stay after a work social event so didn't need or want any hotel extras like gyms or bar etc and the Staunton was perfect. The room was a fair size, very clean and well maintained with a really comfy bed. The hotel is on quite a busy road which I thought might keep me awake but sound proofing fairly good (as long as bathroom door shut!). Breakfast was ok, good quality although dining area really small and the staff were not as personable and friendly as the reception staff. Overall perfect for what I needed!

Comfortable hotel. Nicely decorated, good sized rooms - unusual for London. Excellent situation.

Good situation for leisure or business. Taxis pass the front door every 2 mins! Very comfortable and well put together rooms. Even a filled minibar (some London hotels have stopped filling them!) though no wine:-( Adequate breakfast though in fact around the corner there are plenty of cafes and restaurants. No papers.
We actually tried to cancel one room an hour after the 48 hour required period of notice, which the hotel would not let us do without paying for the room. Given this is central London I thought it a bit unfair.
There is NO LIFT! Most rooms are upstairs which can be a problem for the elderly.

Clean, comfy, good breakfast

I was in room 302 - top floor. Tricky up a winding staircase with a big bag. The room was basic, but functional, although it could do with a bit of TLC. The shower was good, although little things like cracked floor tiles wouldn't take much effort to fix.
Wireless Internet was free (a refreshing change after staying in some big chain hotels recently), although I couldn't connect my laptop... I suspect this was more a problem with my laptop than the hotel's connection.
The room was very hot (even though it's October!) so I thought I'd sleep with the window open. Obviously this was a bit noisy being in central London, and I could have used the aircon... I just prefer not to if possible. I imagine this room would be sweltering in the summer...
Cooked breakfast was very good, and check-in / check-out was quick and easy.
Also, the hotel is in a great location for walking into the West End - 10-15 mins to Shaftesbury Ave. Easy for public transport too - 5 mins to Euston Sq tube and there's a bus stop right outside - door to door to a meeting in Picadilly on the bus was probably only 10-15 mins (including waiting for the bus).

Friendly but room was tiny

The Staunton is a very friendly hotel ,close to Euston ,and served a good breakfast. My room was extremely small but well fitted out and very clean . There was air con but that was noisy so the room was too hot for me . I would probably stay again .

Ideal For a Short London Break

I stayed at the Staunton Hotel for one night on 27th Sept on business. I paid £105 for the room including breakfast which I thought was good value for money for central London. The front of the hotel is attractive and the reception area is very pleasant. The receptionist was very polite and checking in was quick and easy. I was in one of the basement rooms in the hotel the window of which was onto the side road rather than the very busy main road the hotel is located on so its not so busy. Being a basement room means when you look through the window your looking up at people walking past on street above which is great if your nosey but made me a little uneasy initially being a single female traveller but once I got used to the idea I did feel safe as doors and windows etc seemed very secure. The room was quite small, the bathroom with a shower was behind a sliding mirror -small but clean and perfectly adequate. The bedroom was neat and clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was quite hot in the room when I arrived but there was air con which worked a treat. I walked from the hotel to Covent Garden in the evening which took 10-15 mins and the following day walked to Holborn for a meeting which was only a 20-30 min walk. The following day I happened to walk back past the hotel again on my way from Euston to the British Museum so it really is very conveniently located if you dont mind a bit of walking. The only negative comment I have about this hotel which was just an irritation more than anything is that I only wanted a small bowl of fruit and a croissant for breakfast with a cup of tea (I could have had the full monty if I wanted it as it was included in the price). For some reason they refused to give me a two croissant's - apparantly there is only allowed one per person...very odd??!!
So in summary I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good value for money base in London for a night or two, but be aware that its on a very busy road and some of the rooms must be on this road so take that into account if you dont like noise!!!!

Not your usual bland chain hotel experience

Small, intimate hotel, great location for restaurants and site seeing. Got the impression that the staff really were interested in feedback rather than just going through a tick box exercise.
