Stayed on the top floor, it was very quiet and felt very safe as you need a key to get into the lobby. The bed was really lovely and relaxing after a busy day running round London in heels. The room had a hair dryer (yay!), air-con, mini-bar and a huge television. The only issue was the shower-head is immobile. Everyone was really lovely and you get a breakfast choice of Full English or Continental.

I travelled with my daughter to get her aquainted with area as she's going to study at UCL. The hotel was way better than I expected for this type of place in central London and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We had booked a twin which due to a mix up wasn't available but they gave us the choice of a superior room or two rooms. We took the superior room which was better than some of the rooms I've had in much more expensive hotels. The breakfast was excellent. Not suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking as lots of stairs.

Only a quick one night stay, but the room was very comfortable , a little on the tight side, but with everything you need, particularly coffee and a great bed. It's really well located, being an easy walk to the centre of town. There was some traffic noise until very late in the evening and from early in the morning, but no problem getting a good night's sleep. The breakfast room is small, but clean and bright, with a reasonable choice of food and the cooked breakfast was very good.

We picked this hotel as we wanted to be within walking distance of the main tourist areas of London and it was perfect for that. It was easy to navigate to and there is a car park just around the corner. Tottenham Court Road is full of places to eat and it only took us about 15 minutes to stroll down to Trafalger Square. Rooms were up three flights of stairs which my wife struggled with a bit so if we stayed again I would request a lower floored room. Room was very comfortable, very clean. The bathroom could have done with a paint touch up and it took a while to get the shower temperature right. We also couldn't get the tap to run cold. In one of our rooms we also couldn't get the kettle plug to reach the socket so could not make use of the complimentary tea and coffee. The breakfast was very good, excellent service and lovely to have it cooked freshly just for us! Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

A New Year Vacation Almost Ruined lt br...
A New Year Vacation Almost Ruined.
We made a reservation for a one-night stay in London for the 2009 new year celebration. It took us forever to find this hotel. We finally made to the hotel by asking several people. Our treatment at the hotel reception was horrible. The two women at the reception told that we had to book another room for my teenage son. I explained to them that when I booked with lateroom.com, we told them that we will have two adults and one child. But they said my son, who is a teenage, was too old to stay in the room. I told them I would be willing to book a triple room or pay to have a bed added because it is hard to find another hotel in the new year eve. But they said there was no triple room available, and insisted that we book another room for my son, or we had to leave. If we leave, we would have to pay for the full cost for the one night. Basically, they wanted to force us to book another room (by that time I understood why many other hotels had long sold out while this hotel still had rooms available for the busiest time in a year). During the whole process, we were treated rudely and the whole experience almost ruined our new year experience in London. Fortunately, we were able to find another hotel in the new year eve, but it costed us a fortune. I post this to make sure nobody else will have the same experience like us with this hotel.
I stayed here with my young daughter and we loved it. All the staff were courteous and friendly, and one young man carried our case up to the top floor which I was very grateful for. We had asked for a twin room, but got a double at the top of the hotel-but as we were last to arrive that day, I didn't want to comment on this, and it was not a real problem (though it might have been if I had arrived with one of my strapping sons!!!) The drinks fridge in the room was a real novely for my daughter! It was just all so beautifully clean and LOVED, whch made the difference. We were able to walk to theatre land and kings Cross so it was ideally situated for us. I can't wait to return. It did feel a bit pricey, but I preferred the homely feel of it to the big chains, and breakfast was included, which we made the most of. This was prepared on demand, so no plasticy eggs or dried up bacon! Thank you!

We went to visit Covent Garden and it was really handy. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived and so we went out for a walk. On our return our cases had been taken to our room. Staff wre very helpful and friendly. When I came down for breakfast on our first day I asked the owner where the nearest paper shop was. He told me, asked what I wanted and insisted that I went to breakfast while he went for the paper, for which he refused payment! We had as much as we wanted for breakfast which was well-cooked. We had a double twin room which was as big as the room that we'd had in a much more expensive hotel last year. The staff were very friendly and would do anything asked of them. We highly reccommend the Staunton and will definitely stay there on our next London trip.

I only visit London twice a year but, now that I have found the Staunton, I have not looked seriously anywhere else. It is very conveniently located and the staff always very welcoming. Last year, when I arrived reasonably early, my allocated room (a single) was not ready so they just upgraded me to a double that was! The Staunton hotel (b&b) is VERY nice and I would stay there again easily. Spacious room with private bathroom - 3 large windows overlooking the street with double panes to stop any noise. TV, fridge, coffee/tea maker, phone, comfortable seating area. I stayed in one of their nicest rooms and enjoyed it thoroughly. My one complaint at all was the room was a bit warm for my taste but it was very cold outside and I like a chilly room - I finally opened a window after turning the heat off and still feeling cold (and I had turned the air conditioning on). For most people this is probably a plus - it did cool off and I was comfortable and slept very well! The staff were all very helpful and friendly - the breakfast was great with lots of choice and the rooms were bright and airy. I loved it! It is close enough to St. Pancras to walk and I walked to the theatre at night - it felt safe enough and close enough it was no problem.
