London Stay

The room and service was very good. Food good. The resturant was very cramped and could do with updating and making larger.

Worth the money!

I was very apprehensive about staying at St Simeon's because I heard a lot of mixed reviews on both laterooms.com and TripAdvisor and we were five girls (one heavily pregnant!) staying in one room, however I still booked because it was much cheaper than most places without a minimum stay requirement. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! We didn't get to the hotel until 23:00 when we were supposed to check in at 15:00 but the concierge was very friendly about it all telling us to "make ourselves at home". The room was very basic but nice and clean and we all slept uninterrupted. It was fairly warm but we had asked before we got in if we could have a spare heater just in case and we did end up using it for a little while. Unfortunately we didn't have time for breakfast but all in all the stay was well worth the money!! Considering it is in such a central and quite safe areas in London and it was so cheap per person I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who asked!!

OK budget hotel

Room was OK and clean, but basic. I got a double overlooking the street, but it was quiet all night. The bathroom was fairly modern and the shower roomy, but a few basics were missing - soap and a glass that I had to request, shower soap and toilet roll holders. Cooked breakfast, but the "orange juice" was rather weak orange squash, and the coffee was cold and stale. They seemed to have overprovided on the fruit front - there was a table full of ripe bananas! Location is good for South Kensington museums and Gloucester Road tube and shopping/eating.
Original price before discount on laterooms seemed a lot higher than the price on display at reception.

You get what you pay for

Accomodation at this hotel is basic and tired; my room was very small with furniture that were seriously in need of replacement, even cheap IKEA ones would do; toilet that the sink was hidden in the wall and walls that were paper-thin; the location of the hotel was the main attraction for me but I won't be staying again; the staff were pleasant though and I was told that breakfast was good although I didn't go due to work meetings;

The dungeon.

The Staff and owners were helpful and friendly. The room was semi underground and felt like a dungeon. the shower flooded due to a blocked drain which stunk. the restaurant didn't exist, no phone in room, good location.

Situated in a beautifully grand buildiing in the heart of South Kensington you cannot get much better than this for location. Unfortunately this place is let down by the clutter that is everywhere and the fact that is just feels a bit grimey. The bed sheets were clean, but the bed cover had stains on it. The ensuite bathroom was functional, but could have been cleaner. The flowers were nice, but just about dead. The full english breakfast is tasty, but the portion size is small - not quite enough to keep you going for a full day of sightseeing! The friendly staff just about make up for these 'buts'. Though overall this place is probably worth what you pay for it.

Ideal lads weekend stay

The St Simeon is an ideal place if you are wanting to stay in London on a budget and with four other like-minded friends.
Our five bedroomed room was large enough to ensure every one had their own bed and space for their belongings. The bathroom was small with a toilet, shower and sink.
The beds were clean and the room had a wardrobe, table and chair and a TV (though the reception was poor). The room had high ceilings and a mezzanine for two of the beds.
The staff were friendly and helpful. And we had a good cooked breakfast.
The hotel is ideal as a roof over your head as you get out and about in London.

Low-cost West London hotel accomodation

£70 for bed & breakfast. Room was functional, shower worked well. No frills although the staff were friendly & helpful, and the cooked breakfast more than adequate. Would use again if I needed to be in that part of London overnight - a stones throw from Gloucester Road Tube.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We knew that this hotel was a 2 star hotel and so we did not have very high expectations. The room was quite out dated and small but it was fine for us as we were out for most of the days/evenings. I would definitely stay here again as the location was excellent and the room rates were very reasonable in comparison with other hotels in this area.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in this hotel, and in short, the staff were incredibly friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the location is of course fantastic. All in all, everything we were looking for in a hotel.

Would not be recommending this guest house

Check in is very late.on arrival you are expected to pay full amount there is no pre warning of this,iv never stayed anywhere where you pay before unless it is prepayed on internet advance purchase.the tv didnt work but was fixed?if you call not so fuzzy fixed the next day this is not a hotel it is a b&b.there are no toiletries in bathroom,we had bites after sleeping in beds.it is very expensive for what you get it is really only a step up from a hostel.only saving grace is the breakfast but to be honest you can get a good fry n coffee etc for a fiver anywhere.it has a good location but we just wished we were in one of the nicer hotels in same area.the owner is rude & ignorant.the broken tvs washing machines old broken furniture on the staircase only adds to the poor state of the place.if you really dont care where you stay then this is fine but if you have any standards give it a miss!!!!!!!!!

St Simeons - very friendly hotel

We had a great stay at St Simeons even though the room was very basic with one or two glitches - no lock on toilet, no plug in sink - but for the price we weren't bothered as the staff were so friendly and helpful. Genuine hospitality, especially at breakfast (included in the price), and great location too.

Very Poor

I paid £99 for a single room which was boiling hot and had no fan or a/c. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet had not been flushed and on my arrival had stinking urine in it. Plus I could not stand up in the bathroom, to add insult the sink had no plug, the water was only luke warm and just trickled out and there was no soap or shampoo.
The room decoration was poor and the carpet was not laid at the edges. Furniture was also very old and in poor condition with a old 12" TV.
The breakfast was horrendous and I was made to sit on a communial table. The English breakfast was the worst I have ever had and the orange juice was just squash. I was glad to leave this establishment.
Very disappointed as I stay in London at least monthly and this was my first bad experience. Only last month I stayed at the Hotels at the Chelsea football club for a laterooms price of £89 per night (brilliant) and enjoyed dinner at Marco Pierre Whites resturant (next door) for £16.50 & breakfast at Weatherspoons for £3.95 at Fulham Broadway underground station.
Given this hotel was more expensive how could they get it so wrong?

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at in London

Title says it all. Specifics are bedroom was the size of a cupboard meant to be a "twin", bedroom furniture looked like it had been recycled from a rubbish tip, trampled on by herd of elephants and then stuck back together again, the curtains only covered the window partially, breakfast consisted of toast, a scrambled egg, the tiniest slice of bacon with the smallest solo sausage I have ever seen, the shelf next to the breakfast table contained fruit hatching flies to churn your stomach and bizarrely the staff offered you chunks of fruit whilst you were trying to eat the meagre cooked breakfast, and there was the strangest collection of old washing machines, kitchen equipment and other paraphenalia at the top of the stairs on the first landing.

St Simeon Hotel - July 2010

This is a budget range London Hotel - if you are a picky individual who has to have the 5* best of everything, it's not for you.
However, if you want a low cost hotel convenient for the museums, it could be a good location to consider.
Rooms are a little on the small side, and there are some interesting furnishings - e.g. a hospital night stand in our room, and a collection of domestic white goods half way up the stairs, but those are small points.
Food was good and plentiful - just try telling grandpa that you don't want more melon or biscuits! All the staff were friendly and helpful. There is also a cheap taxi option to get back to your mainline station (only slightly more than the single tube fare).
Overall, a good base for exploring the museums or Chelsea, and well connected via the tube to Leicester Square and the West End.
We would stay again.

Room was clean but very basic, even TV was basic (small and no remote control).
Staff is ok maybe would need to be more friendly/welcoming, good point is that hotel is open 24h and you get the key to the room.
Breakfast: the service was not ideal as you are told where to sit down (!!!) and you are being served instead of having a buffet. The food is ok, despite the fact that you cannot help yourself it is the first time I saw such a huge choice for breakfast (all fresh fruits possible, sweet and salty foot, cakes, meet etc).
For toiletries or hairdryer you have to ask reception.
No Internet in the rooms but signal in the dining room or in the stairs !
Overall, I would say good if you're only looking for a place to sleep, no more.
