What you need to know
Where It Is
Formerly the Midland Grand Hotel, the magnificent St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel is found at the heart of the action in St. Pancras International rail station at Kings Cross, putting you adjacent with one of London's busiest transport hubs. Overlooking Euston Road and literally backing onto St Pancras concourse, this is a magnificent Victorian building, lovingly restored, exceeding its original design.
What To Expect
You can't miss the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel. It is regarded by some as being one of the most romantic buildings in London. Its dominance on Euston Road is typically Victorian. The red-bricked facia changes colour with the passage of the afternoon sun, stone arched windows, dramatic spires and intricate carvings complement the gothic revival. Consider the days when horse and carriages would trot through the vast lobby, dropping train passengers and guests into the station to buy tickets or register to stay in the hotel.
The original design of Sir George Gilbert Scott is still prevalent complemented with opulent gold leaf ceilings, hand-stencilled wall designs and that fabulous grand staircaseadd a real air of luxury to your stay. Corridors are grand, with high ceilings, subtle lighting all renovated to cast you back to the Victoria age. Today the history is supplemented by modern amenities: superb elegant en suite bathrooms with REN toiletries, bath robes, Egyptian cotton sheets, flat screen satellite televisions, mini bar and high-speed Wi-Fi access.
The Gilbert Scott Restaurant and Bar is a tribute to the former designer. Now managed by Marcus Waring, the sweeping restaurant with its grand lines and attention to detail is earning its reputation as a serious contender to break into London's top restaurants.
At a hotel of this stature we could not forget the fully equipped gym, slim-shaped heated indoor pool (unusual in central London), a calm, serene Spa with relaxation rooms, beauty suites and consultants to shape your needs.
Following a spell as British Rail offices, the building became too expensive to maintain, and closed in 1935. The new incarnation that is managed by Marriott has returned this stunning Gothic structure to its former glory.
Over 80% of our customers would stay again and give it excellent rating based on customer care, the history, architecture and the quality of the beautiful accommodation. Well worth a visit the next time you're in London.
