One of the best London hotels I've stayed at

In terms of customer service, this hotel is about the best I've stayed at in the UK. Aesthetically, the hotel and its rooms are stunning. The bathroom, and especially the shower were fantastic. Only downside is the sound proofing in the rooms. Lots of noise/loud music from the bar downstairs, which travelled up to the 2nd floor where I was staying. And noise from rooms either side of mine was pretty bad. Wouldn't stop me from staying there again, though. This will certainly be my first choice of hotel when I next come to London. Great location, great staff, fantastic restaurant etc etc. But my advice to anyone staying here would be to request a room higher up. Hopefully the music from the bar doesn't travel all the way up the building!

Beautiful bed in a tiny room

Superior room no bigger or better than standard room. For this much cash some semblance of a suite is required -ie sofa, chairs coffee table. However great bed, bathroom and location. Foyer top drawer.

Seduced by the sublime st martins lane

I have stayed at many hotels in London but in future will always try to stay here.
The bedrooms are immaculate in style, functionality and cleanliness.
Service subliminal but superb.
Location perfect for all trips, tubes, theatres etc.

Overpriced

Unusual hotel but despite booking through laterooms overpriced for what the room gave us - it was very small. Our room rate did not include breakfast and at £25 per head felt this was also outrageously overpriced - no wonder the dining room was empty the next morning!
However, the room did have all the necessities - except tea/coffee making facilities which would have been nice.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The service was remarkable. The room was quite small but had everything we needed. Love it here and will definitely stay again.

St Martins Lane

The hotel location in the heart of London is this hotel's greatest asset - you can walk everywhere.
John the assistant front office manager was welcoming and kindly upgraded us as it was our wedding anniversary.
But there is no getting away from the fact that this hotel is either a place you like or dislike - we found it peculiarly bland and soulless.
It is full of trendy beautiful people but is let down by the basics - absolutely nowhere comfortable to sit down in the bedrooms for instance, and no tea and coffee making facilities. The odd freestanding robot looking unit which holds minibar, TV and DVD takes up a lot of room, and the WC has gaps in the glass so that privacy is an issue when you are in the loo.
The minibar charges £5 for a small bottle of water and £2.95 for a Bounty bar - excessive even by London standards.
Breakfast is £23 pp - we went to Leicester Sq and had a lovely breakfast in Cafe Rouge by the tube station for a fraction of that.
Overall our room only rate of £370.13 seemed very expensive for what was on offer, but the staff we had contact with were nonetheless friendly and informal.
