Couple from Norway staying a weekend in London.

We went for a London weekend 28 - 30 of may 2012. Needed a hotel with a central adress for our interests, and here St. Giles was ideal. Within walking distance from almost everything like shows, musicals, and interesting places. We have been in the Bloomsbury area 3 times the last five years, but this was the first time we stayed at St. Giles. We will book this hotel next time we visit London also. Nice hotel, nice clean room with a friendly smiling staff. Good value for money.

Hubby's Jubilee Break (His 60th also)

Overall, a very good stay. We were in London, celebrating my hubby's 60th. Location was excellent, quality of hotel & service was very good for what we paid. Did not expect 5* as did not pay 5* price. If any criticism, then it would be that the room was on the small side but adequate & there was no toast available for breakfast & choice the same every day, no mushrooms or tomatoes but still had enough choice, enjoyed what we had & left the dining room adequately fed.

Room was small but well equipped, bathroom clean with plenty of hot water. Excellent location for We Will Rock You and tube station only a two minute walk away. The only small criticism was that the maid was knocking on our door at 8.30am which woke us up! We would stay here again because of the location and price, we paid £92.

Great location

Rooms at the St. Giles are not huge, they are, however, very clean and compact with everything you need for a great night's sleep. Location of this hotel is fantastic. Within minutes you can be in Oxford St or theatre land. Leicester Square is only a short walk away and is the main reason for our repeat stays at this hotel and the underground is just around the corner if you need it.

Nice hotel

2 of us stayed in a double room & checked out about 11pm. Bathroom was very nice & modern but bedroom was a bit small. Useful location so was only 2mins walk from Tottenham Court Road Station which meant less walking to Charing Cross & to get back to Bexley Heath. Perfect for a quick stay central after work & a bit of romance.

St Giles

This is an excellent, busy hotel that is situated around 100 yards from Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road underground station.
The hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff friendly and efficient.
However I did experience two small problems in the two nights I stayed : the power went off to my room one morning. I reported it and the power was restored in 5 minutes, but no one ever spoke to me to see if everything was OK. Also when returning to my room one afternoon (5th floor) the fire alarm went off. I was advised by a member of staff to leave via the emergency stairs, this I did but when emerging on the ground floor found the Hotel operating normally (it was a false alarm) but there was no announcement to that effect, fortunately I'm able bodied but this wouldn't have been good if I hadn't been !

Was pretty good location but we had booked a double room which was tiny and difficult to move about in and the same goes for the shower . Also the lighting in the room was horrendous, far too dim, so there was nowhere to be able to do your hair/make up , I had to resort to using my compact mirror next to the only window in the room which would only open at an awkward angle. Having said that, it was nice central location, but do think for what we got , was not very good value.

Great central hotel

Great location, right near Tottenham Court Road tube station. We had read previous reviews and yes the rooms are small but it's all you need. It was worth the money and the staff were really friendly. We were able to leave our suitcase there after checking out for free. Plus we also won some money in the casino below the hotel. Bonus! The noise wasn't an issue at all. We will definitely stay here again.

Good location

Not a bad location being reasonably close to 'Theatreland' and Oxford Street. Our room was compact & the tea/coffee was appreciated. The bathroom was quite small but generally adequate although it could do with a make over. There was quite a bit of noise from other guests during the night but with groups of youngsters staying at the hote and coming in late it was'nt altogether surprising. £1 for 20 minutes on a PC seemed very reasonable but I have had free use elsewhere (e.g. Canada). In the past I have paid not a lot less for a significantly inferior hotel located much further out of central London (Earls Court) so overall was satisfied with the deal that we got through Laterooms.

Good location

We' ve stayed here before, and the main reason for choosing St Giles is the location just about 150 meter from the tube station, and just around the corner from Oxford street. The rooms are mostly small - but so are many other hotel rooms in London. The double beds are a bit narrow. A plus for a wide choice of TV-channels, and a fan in the room to use in the summer. Two things on the negative side: the price for using the WIFI is steep and the elevator capasity is too low - espesially in the morning. If you are in a hurry, be sure to put in an exstra 5 minutes to get down (or use the stairs if you live on the lower floors).

Good digs in great location

Just as everybody else has commented the rooms are very small. I had booked a 'Junior Suite' and it was tiny!! Ok, but the location for London is just great. Right in the heart of the West End and only two minute walk from the Tube. This hotel really is a budget hotel charging proper hotel prices because of it's location. Expect hen/stag nights etc....
On the second night there was no water at all in the entire hotel, same next morning!! So, no shower, no wash, couldn't brush teeth or use toilet!! Not very good at over £160 a night!! Surprisingly the staff didn't seem at all bothered, the attitude was 'what do you expect us to do about it?'!!
But whatever, it is in a great location.....

St Giles.

I remembered St Giles from a stay 10 years ago. It was fair to good before. I had also read the other guests reports of the rooms being small ( true but not a problem ) and likely to become hot (unless you open the window so again not a real problem)
So I was mostly getting what I expected until I got into bed. The mattress dipped badly into the middle and I slept uncomfortably for both nights. My wife who is petite didn't notice to the same extent as I.

Great Location

Just returned from the St Giles Hotel. The location of the hotel was excellent. Check-in was quick on arrival. Our room was quite small but clean and comfortable. Maid service every day. The room would have benefitted with a ceiling light as it was quite dark with only small bedside lamps for light. Our room was on the 1st floor and as a result we were able to use the stairs as there were always long queues/waits on the lifts. This would be a problem for anyone staying on the upper floors. Didnt have any problems with noise from either within the hotel or from the street outside. Cant comment on the food as we never ate in the hotel.

Perfect for a weekend away!

On arrival we were upgraded to an executive double room free of charge and the service at reception was lovely.
The room was quite small with the double bed taking up most of the space but the quality of the room made up for it. There was an excellent complimentary tea and coffee set, a flat screen tv with a lot of channels, and the bathroom was modern and clean.
This is a perfect hotel for sightseeing with the underground practically on the doorstep, and is perfect for the show 'we will rock you' which is literally around the corner.
There are restaurants not only in the hotel but also right outside as swell so a lot of choice is available, we also found the hotel bar very handy and nice.
Overall a great hotel and perfect location!!

Good Value For Central London Hotel

Hotel staff very helpful when informed that the hairdryer in the room was not working properly reception sent the housekeeper straight away with a replacement hairdryer . Very impressed.
I would like to bring to your attention that the hairdryer had a PAT test sticker on it but it seemed to be out of date (2009) I believe portable items should be tested every year maybe it was just an oversite of the electrician and he forgot to replace the sticker with an up to date one?

I recently stayed at this hotel overnight while on business.
Positives - good location, within walking distance from Euston Rd and Kings Cross stations. Good facilities. Efficient check in. An onsight bar downstairs.
Negatives - breakfast is not included, poor sound proofing in the room (I was on the 5th/6th floor and got a fair amount of noise from the traffic below), shower in the bathroom wasn't great.
Overall, reasonable value for money but wouldn't recommend staying for more than two nights.

Had horrible glass mugs in room which are no good for tea. Shower room ok but impossible to take a shower without flooding the floor because of an ill-fitting shower curtain. The lifts are v.slow, I would recommend using the stairs if you are on a lower floor or you can end up waiting 10mins for a lift. Expensive compared to rest of UK especially as no breakfast included but ok value for London.
