St George Hotel out of 5 Customer Rating
St George Hotel, London

The St George Hotel is perfectly located for all West End activities being literally 5 minutes from Oxford Streets Bond Street or Marble Arch tube stations. Booked as an overnight room following an evening theatre trip, value for money and location couldn't be quibbled with. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly and upgraded our room on arrival as the standard room booked was not ready. The room was clean and tidy, bed comfortable and bathroom facilities adequate and clean. The only bad point is the decoration and furniture in the room looked like they had been acquired from a furniture exchange 10 years ago which gave the room a very shabby appearance to the extent that I'd have been very disappointed if Id actually booked this room as an upgrade. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of choice and adequate, cooked breakfast was available as an upgrade for about £5. Overall Id say for a room in the middle of the west end that actually we spent very little time in this the St George Hotel was good value for money and perfectly adequate; but for a special weekend away you would be disappointed.

Nice little place.

I booked here late after browsing the internet - usually sceptical of the old Georgian houses which have been changed into small hotels ( after staying in a lot of bad ones!). This one was good. Staff were very friendly when I phoned earlier to say I would be late, and very friendly when I arrived. It is a very small hotel with no bar or food facilities apart from breakfast - but that was fine, I knew what I was getting. The room was fine - good size and very clean with good facilities. Continental breakfast was very good, with a full English available for a small supplement. It was away from the shops, but only 10 minutes walk to Marble Arch tube station and Oxford St. If you are looking for good basic facilities this is fine and I would certainly stay here again.

Clean and practicle

My room (no.15) was small but very clean. It was also fairly quiet. There were quite a few flights of stairs to climb, which I didn't mind, but no one at reception offered to help with the bag. The continetal breakfast was perfectly adequate. I would stay again for business purposes.

The room itself was clean and well furnished. There was no en-suite. There was private bathroom but it was on the next floor. That was an inconvenience in the middle of the night
The hotel does not have a lift. Reaching the top floors with a heavy suitcase was a struggle

Nice, Friendly B & B in the Heart of London

I live in London but had to stay "up town" for a gruelling conference. St George's was just the ticket. Clean, quiet and friendly. Well done. Will definately stay again!

Second stay

I stayed here once before in the last twelve months. The staff are friendly and smile! The location is good, an easy walk to Oxford Street or Marylebone Road in the opposite direction. Gloucester place is frequently used by Taxi's so getting one is not too difficult. Bedrooms are comfortable and the breakfast, served in a nice bright clean room in the basement, does the job.

Review of St George Hotel

Room was satisfactory but en suite was not that good, there was a broken tap and no lock on the door. Staff were a bit gruff.
The breakfast was of low quality- cheap instant coffee served in coffee pots, pretending to be filter coffee and breakfast consisted of things such as fruit out of a tin and cornflakes. Unfortunately, breakfast was spoilt by a member of staff putting on the television really loud, showing the football, not what you need at 9AM on a Sunday morning.

Great place to stay for Central London

I stayed in a single room, on the 3rd floor, with private bathroom/loo on floor above (I knew that would be the case from reading a previous review so not a surprise; and it wasn't a major hassle). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the flatscreen TV worked; and there was enough room to do a little work at the desk too. There were several restaurants and pubs within close working distance, and it was perfectly located for my central London meeting the next day. Compared to what my colleagues got elsewhere, for a lot more money, this was a good deal. I imagine it could get a bit hot in the summer, but then so do most hotels in central London unless you really splash out. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice clean quiet hotel

Its been mentioned before, but that stair carpet has got to go!! The bed was comfy and the staff pleasant, but that shabby carpet needs to be replaced, soon!

St George Hotel

A nice little hotel. Excellent customer service. Rooms a bit on the small side, and up loads of stairs - but good location, and very friendly & helpful staff. I'd stay again.
