A luxurious hotel fantastically placed for restaurants, theatre and opera. Service was exquisite and ambiance romantic - black foyer adorned with red flowers - and chic. Sheer indulgence - would have loved to eat there but my partner baulked at the prices. Room was quiet, stylish but a little cramped for 'luxury double'. Sofitel beds are the best feature - same in Bruges which is why we stayed at this one. It's like sleeping on a cloud. A touch of class, however brief!

Excellent location close to Picadilly Circus. Breakfast at 24/$48 per person is a rip-off, as is the mini-bar (4/$8 for a coke!). Rooms are quite spacious by London standards with extremely complicated shower plumbing. Stay here if you want to treat yourself(s).

Room service told me a 1/2 bottle I'd requested was not available and tried to sell me one for x2 the price. when I refused I was told I could have two glasses of the one I had requested. This up selling left a bad taste. Room service generally was extortionate even for central London. Otherwise hotel was excellent.

Booked standard room without breakfast for 155.00 after reading excellent reviews about hotel. Bed was most comfortable we have ever slept in and you could even buy the bed base, mattress, featherbed topper & duvet etc from the brochure left in the room (although pricey!) Room had everything you could need - iron, ironing board, tea & coffee making facilities, TV, radio/CD/alarm. Our room had shower over bath, although two shower heads, one you can hold & one fixed above - they both came on at same time & water went everywhere, although husband soon sorted it! The only view of our room was onto a brick wall but as we hadn't paid the rack rate & were only there one night, it didn't bother us too much. Turndown service when we returned to our room was nice touch with slippers by our bed along with bottle of complimentary water & glass & classical music on TV. Did not have breakfast as it was 24 each, so went to Marios cafe just up the street on opposite side (bacon & egg bap & coffee for around 4 was good enough). Overall, hotel is gorgeous - rose lounge was beautiful, harpist playing in the afternoon with lovely smell of flowers in the lobby. Would definitely recommend!

A wonderful location and a very nice stay overall. The little touches to welcome us were a nice surprise, such as the fruit in the room and the welcome letter and drink in the bar. The room was large and very well-equipped. The bed was wonderful, it was very hard to get up in the morning! We did have a couple of minor complaints such as the cleaner spending a long time cleaning the room even though she knew we wanted access, and the lack of towels next to the shower but these are minor problems compared to the whole experience. We'd both love to return very soon!

Actual physical, on site real human being service was good, but was marred by the hotel taking two days to answer an e-mail query before I travelled to the hotel. I view this as unforgiveably incompetent and rude: it represents plain bad service, the very opposite of the image Sofitel are trying to promote.
The hotel's location is central.
The so called 'superior' room had virtually no natural light and there was little compensating illumination to make the room seem anything other than dingy.
Breakfast at 24 would cost more than a meal in my local Egon Ronay one star restaurant.

James Park, in fact the sights were endless. It was wonderful to have all those
places within walking distance of the hotel. The Hotel was one of the best I have ever stayed in. I put 6 for the quality of the room,
in fact ten out of ten would be a better rating.
Stayed one night with a friend as a girlie-treat and it was just the ticket. On arrival the reception and concierge staff were delightful; our superior room was upgraded to a deluxe at no extra cost; ambience and dcor was very elegant and relaxing; room and bathroom were superb it felt like we were the first people to stay there it was so pristine; excellent location for shops, or the tranquillity of St Jamess Park. We didnt have the breakfast as it was a tad steep at 24, but overall, a faultless deal from Laterooms. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend.

Fabulous location-within walking distance of so much. Lovely room, good service.
Just one problem with the bill.I had booked to pay all up front and thought that had been done.Unfortunately I woke up to find a bill pushed under my door, which was not nice to wake up to, and it was incorrect. The hotel had made a mistake in processing the booking and not only had I been billed for several unused items from the minibar, but also this was my first knowledge of the full amount not being debited from my credit card. A genuine error...but still not a very nice way to start the second day of our weekend.
All things considered I would recommend the hotel as it's good points far outweigh a bungled booking!

I really can't fault this hotel. We stayed for the Marathon, which my girlfriend was running in. Not only was the hotel great value for money, but was perfectly placed for the finish line, a mere 200 yards or so! It was a fantastic hotel. Brilliantly placed centrally, with a lovely room - fantastic bathroom, beautiful bed. The works. They were very responsive to a late check out as I'd signed up for the Sofitel privilage card. Equally, when we did have a problem with the room (a squeeking pipe) they had someone in the room fixing it within 5 minutes, despite it being 10.30 at night. Again, can't fault it, and we'll certainly be staying there again.

Wonderfully friendly and well run - a little bit of Paris in London. A grand building in a fantastically central location. High quality rooms and facilities - verging on five star for ambiance & service. The restaurant is a Roux brasserie - regrettably very disappointing, but, hey, there's a myriad of restaurants nearby. At Late Rooms prices, it's the bargain of the year.

Lateroom prices are better value, most of the time, to Sofitel's own site. Breakfast is extra however and parking (valet) is 40 for 24 hours. There are ways round this though. The Roux brasserie has a fair priced menu and cheaper pre-theatre menu. The hotel is my favourite in London and is perfectly sited for shops, theatres, galleries etc..

I couldn't fault the location - 5 mins from Regent Street but in a quiet square.
We got upgraded for free to an Executive Suite which was lovely. The bathroom was clean and had a large bath and shower. I could have slept in the bed forever! Whilst the maop I had was not clear the hotel is very eay to find and is in a good location both close to the shops etc but tucked away. The presentation of both the rooms and common areas was very good with no obvious sign of undue wear and tear in the corridors etc. The check in process was very easy as was check out. In terms of gettting about there was a constant stream of taxi's on Pall Mall in the evening and so getting about was very easy. Additionally there was several tubes within very easy walking distance.
We were only staying over due to travel problems but for rhose vising London many of the major sights were within a "stones throw"

Smart and stylish. We stayed for New Yearand received a warm welcome. The atmosphere was relaxed but the staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel is perfectly positioned in a very elegant part of London near St.James's Palace and easy walking distance to Fortnum's, Regent Street shopping, Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square. Tea in the Rose Lounge was very civilised without being grandiose and drinks in the bar were equally relaxed in the gentleman's club type setting. We wished we had stayed longer we felt so at home and the staff were professional and helpful without being snooty. Loved it !

Good morning,
Booking ref no: 2154815
My experience with late rooms was efficient. However, my experience with Sofitel St James hotel was quite the opposite.
I did have major problems booking the hotel in the first place, the availability was ok on late rooms but Sofitel were saying the hotel was fully booked. Then Paula from late rooms dealt with it for me and assured me a room had been booked even though Sofitel were saying the hotel was fully booked. Pat on the back for Paula.
I had booked a superior room at a cost of 259 not cheap the reason for booking this was it was a superior room and the location for the New Years Eve.
When we arrived the hotel stated that as the hotel was fully booked we were down graded to a Classic room. They then went onto say that late rooms should not have been able to book us in the hotel as they had closed all the bookings due to the hotel being full.
They did say that they would give us the rate of the Classic room (239), not a great difference from a superior which we expected to be in.
As we questioned the hotel staff as to why this was and why werent we notified the only answer we got was that late rooms should not have been able to book the hotel in the first place.
We went on to tell the hotel of the problems we had had and to be fair they did give us a free bottle of champagne as compensation. However, at the price of 239 for a classic room I think thats the least they could have done.
I do hope this feedback is helpful to you as no one likes to be messed around on new years eve.
Breakfast a real disappointment. Albert Roux claims it's the best in London but it's way below the standard it should be. Soggy scrambled egg left festering away for self-service. Took 15 minutes to get a fried egg from the kitchen, despite few people ordering that way. Croissants stone cold ... basically pretty much a standard big hotel breakfast. The staff could be a lot more attentive - they seemed more interested in conversing among themselves than serving the customers. By contrast dinner was excellent, though pricey.
