Don't waste your money

I read the reviews before we stayed and thought some people can be picky, but how wrong I was. We arrive hour early then check in but lady on desk said our room was ready. Only problem there was no key, it was missing (great start). Then we go in: no cot,no tv working as old fashion one, not plasma as stated, handle broke on fridge, cooker had no settings on dials so you don't know what works for which rings, never got oven working. Sofa bed was so old and uncomfortable, the noise outside at night was dreadful. We had room 302 so if you dare to try this dive then be warned you won't get much sleep or watch much tv as no signal for the tv. Stains everywhere on carpets, they put silly rugs over some, but then you can't open the doors. Also I emailed before asking if hair-dryer was in rooms, said yes and there wasn't so asked for one. Got it sent up later that day. Also no phone to call to reception, you have to go down as we found out in evening, as this room had no bath and we had a baby so had to put him in sink which had no plug. The woman at reception would insist there was one so came back up, looked again, no there wasn't. Never ever will we stay here again. Thank god it was only 2 nights. Even when we left they tried to charge us 30 for a cot we never got (£15 per night). Too much, don't book this place as like me I wish I hadn't and took notice of other reviews.

Discussed and disappointed, wouldn't stay here if you paid me.

Extremely disappointed, had to walk 25 mins from Kilburn tube as recommended, dragging luggage and 2 children, much further than described, only to get there and told they had maintenance problems, but a paid taxi would take us to their 'LUXURY' brand new apartments near Hyde Park. Although we were mildly annoyed we accepted this and went. On arrival we were greeted by 'NOT LUXURY' apartments but a discoloured, dirty windows, flaking paint, tatty door and shabby entrance. Inside the building is like a hostel, not tasteful and modern as lead to believe. Hoovers in the hallway, plastic garden tables, shabby stairs and carpets, dirty walls. We were given a key and sent to the room. We booked a 1 bed apartment with a sofa bed for our 2 children,we got a very dirty dark room with an extremely old sagging sofa bed that I would not let my dog sit on as it was so old and dirty, filthy carpets,a rag up at the window as a curtain on both windows,a stained bed with discoloured sheets, again dark and dirty. We immediately went back down and explained this is not what we saw online or booked and even what we were promised by the receptionist at So Quatier and had no intention of staying here and wanted a refund. The lady who I am guessing was the receptionist wearing tracksuit bottoms,t-shirt and trainers (not suitable for welcoming guests) said she had other rooms but they were on the 3rd floor. We told her we would look at them. Again up the dirty stairs, stepping over hoovers, bins, cleaning cloths to the rooms. Yes, these were brand new and the work men were still in them. The TV in one room didn't work as we were told there was no aerial and there wasn't one in the other room. Electrical wires were hanging out bare in the hall next to the doors of both room. Although there was a kettle there was no coffee, tea or condiments. The shower in one room just trickled out and unable to use This was not an apartment but a bedsit Although the furniture, bedding, and bathroom were new and nice we were totally disappointed and what was supposed to be an anniversary surprise in a beautiful apartment which we could enjoy being in ended up ruined and we didn't want to be in the building at all.Even when we came out of the building there was a lady drunk on the steps pouring her drink from bottle to bottle, not what I like my children to see or myself for that matter. So a totally ruined weekend by the appalling accommodation, The whole impression that is given by the description is nothing like the experience we had and would advice anyone not to book. I will be e-mailing the CEO about this experience and explaining how the So Quatier Apartments are misleading laterooms customers.

An excellent choice

Excellent location, right next door to Kilburn overground train station, and with a large selections of shops and bars nearby, including a Tesco store below the hotel.
Room was very spacious and of excellent quality, only room for improvement would be larger TV. Excellent value for money for London, will definitely return.

Not as bad as I had thought

The unusual set up of three rooms, bed, bathroom and Kitchen diner/lounge is refreshing, very like the 'residence' inns in the states, only cheaper. The quality is fairly low but it was clean and tidy. The Tesco express underneath was very useful and I saved an awful lot in food costs and ate exactly what I wanted. The parking however was more difficult than the site portrays, the NCP not NHS! as the receptionist insisted, is about 400 yards away up the high road, cars are not accessible after 18:30 so a little futile if you plan on driving in the evening. No noise at night in my room which was a surprise and the heaters take some working out, a combined fan heater and night storage system. I would stay there again.

Excellent find

Fantastic one bed apartment 3 minutes walk from Kilburn Park tube which was ideal as I was working in Paddington for the week. excellent accommodation, clean, modern, quiet. My studio apartment had a lovely bathroom, stocked with good towels, a double bedroom with quality linen and a small sitting area, TV and fully fitted kitchen, great if you needed to cater for yourself. Could not have been happier with So Quartier, I'll definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

You get what you pay for, apparently...

We booked this for a short stay with an 18 month old in tow. On first inspection the apartment although spacious was not very clean and I felt I had to wash everything before I used it from the kitchen and wash my hands after sitting on the sofa for very long, perhaps I was just picky because we had our toddler with us. I've marked it as not child friendly as there was a range of sharp knives kept in the bottom drawer in the kitchen ! Also there was a large glass topped table in the room which we realized wasn't actually attached to the base and could tip over fairly easily. Although the reception staff seemed eager to please the lady we saw most couldn't speak English very well and hadn't even heard of Covent Garden when we asked for help with directions. As a final straw, we paid £18 for 24 hours of parking which started at 5pm when we arrived but they wanted us to move our car at 11am the following morning, i.e well before the end of the 24 hours we had paid for. I would not stay again or recommend to anyone else.

You get what you pay for!!

We stayed at the So Quartier Apartments at the weekend. I had pre booked 2 car parking spaces, but on arrival at the hotel, learnt that the spaces had not been reserved!! Luckily we were able to park on the street behind. My colleague had to change rooms twice as the first room stank if cigarette smoke, and the second room had white stains on the sofa and the mattress was clearly broken. The receptionist was not particularly helpful or apologetic. The living space in the apartment was limited and decor could not with attention, but the bedroom however was lovely and warm. I was particularly impressed with the bathroom, it was lovely and modern.

Run down, unkempt, dirty and undermaintained

If you look at my feedback going back for years you'll see that I rarely leave a negative review so please bear this in mind when reading this one
As a seasoned traveller to London I have fairly low expectations of hotels and serviced apartments and after 15 years of travelling there I have learned to take the rough with the smooth but the issues with this accommodation were numerous and I will never go there again.
1) Very dirty carpets and sofa
2) No teaspoons, bowls or sideplates in cupboards
3) No TV remote and TV with spurious channel setup
4) A saucepan in the freezer being used as an ice tray
5) No tea/dish towel to clean dishes.
In serviced apartments these are expected to be there and clean.
I should add that this was my experience in the second room I had as the first one was worse and I was moved to a 'better' room when I complained.
Staff did try to help but it took 2 days to get most of it sorted and they did in fact swap the sofa for another which was cleaner but not actually clean.
I could go on but since they left me a bottle of wine and chocolates I'll stop here and say only that it would take a great deal more to make me go back. A clean room would be a good beginning.
These serviced apartments ask for payment on arrival however I strongly suggest you go see the room before you pay, maybe then they'll start to take more interest in presenting clean rooms to guests.

Not what we expected

The 2 bed apartment we stayed in was tired looking, very dark and in need of some renovation, one of the beds was very soft and uncomfortable, the wifi did not work at all in the room we stayed in, and the television stopped working after two days, which conicided with the maintenance person being in the room to investigate a fault with the adjoining apartment? despite requesting the television to be fixed on 4 separate occassions it was never repaired or replaced. We also had to request our room to be cleaned on the 4th day of our stay.
The final issue we had was after asking the receptionist to order a taxi the day before we were due to leave to take us to the airport. I requested a taxi capable of taking our party or 5 and luggage to the airport, and on the morning of departure a normal sized saloon taxi turned up which was completely inadequate for us. Luckily another larger car was despatched and arrived in time for us to make our flight.
Customer service and facilities could definately be improved

The apartment was really shabby and the beds were awful. The sofa bed was really not at all suitable for two and in fact my 11 year old daughter slept on it alone and I had to sleep on the cushions on the floor as the mattress was so old and saggy. It was also very poorly equipped with dirty old saucepans and no cereal bowls for our breakfast. It was very handy for Kilburn tube but did not feel like it was in Maida Vale as advertised. Only plus was that it was reasonably priced for a family of four when all other hotel rooms in London were pricey due to the start of Wimbledon. Would definitely give it a wide berth in future.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The two main problems where (1) It was very noisy it was a front room. (2) We requested an early morning wake up call for 5.30 am unfortunately it did not happen. We had set the alarm on a mobile phone so we were not late for our early morning appointment. Other than that we would return again but would prefer a room away from the main road.

Do not stay here

The So Quartier was wholly misrepresented on the website, as it is on its own websitre. The apartment was tiny. The bedoom contained a small wardrobe and there was not a single drawer or shelf for clothes etc. We have never stayed in such a noisy hotel/apartment. We were woken at 3.30 am on Saturday morning by a full blown fight with flying bottles outside. The area is rough and I would not venture out alone in the evening.
There is no onsite parking at all. We were told when we rang that the rewas and booked it for 5 nights - on arrival we were told it was not on site and in any event was double booked. We were then directed to a very dodgy multi storey which a woman alone would be ill advised to use.
There was no LCD TV or DVDplayer - rather an old portable TV that operated on only a very few channels.
The kitchen wasnot fully equiped -- we had to go down to reception (there is no phone) to request cups, bowls and teaspoons. The knives whad broken handles. In the bathroom the towels are extremely small and thin. They were not cahnaged daily as we were told. The furniture was shabby and the upholstery stained.
The managaement helped themselves to payment from my credit card the evening before we were due to check out without notice or authority,

I have stayed in different apartments in london but I think this is the best located. It's less than 2 minutes walk from 1 underground station and 1 overhead. Oxford street and city Center is about 10 minutes bus ride away even if you factor in traffic. There is a Tesco on the ground floor of the same building as the hotel and Sainsbury, M&S food and Iceland are just a stroll down the street.
I stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment and it was spacious, clean and practical.

Staying at So Quarter was very interesting and I still can't decide if I liked it or not. It was definitely a reasonably priced apartment rather than a hotel. I had a very large bed room a kitchen sitting room and a bathroom. They were all done up Ok, but everything was a bit tiered. There were lived-in marks on the floors, the TV was ancient, and the furniture was cheep/rough and ready. There was a lot of space but no character at all and the extra large bedroom felt a bit empty as it was so sparsely furnished. You could also hear a lot of the nose from people in the hallways - although this didn't keep me up at night. Basically you could tell that everything was done on the cheep and with not very much thought about making the place feel comfortable (even the sheets were a bit cheep). This all being said I don't think you will find a bigger place for the price they are charging anywhere else in London and this could be a great based for someone who would rather have the independence of a flat than a serviced hotel room.

The beds , allegedly double, are too small. There was no coffee maker; and no iron; and the iron requested did not work, and the second one leaked. Stain on the ceiling; dated sofa and chairs.

However, the room had not been well prepared - a few belongings of previous occupants remained there, and there was no remote for the tv (staff said somebody must have taken it, would try and source next day), ridiculously small main towel, and no spare toilet paper. Very small tv in living room, no tv in bedroom. Carpet tatty. Downmarket location (Kilburn), but actually quote convenient. WHAT DID THE BEST REVIEW SAY?

Fantastic one bed apartment 3 minutes walk from Kilburn Park tube which was ideal as I was working in Paddington for the week. excellent accommodation, clean, modern, quiet. My studio apartment had a lovely bathroom, stocked with good towels, a double bedroom with quality linen and a small sitting area, TV and fully fitted kitchen, great if you needed to cater for yourself. Could not have been happier with So Quartier, I'll definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. WHAT DID THE WORST REVIEW SAY?

This place was the worst I have experienced in London. The rooms reminded me of army barracks. Not even any pictures on the wall. The beds and mattresses were well past it. It was cold and cheerless. Forget the website it was awful. Customer Service Quality of Room Quality of Food Cleanliness of Hotel Value for Money Family Friendly
