You get what you pay for

Hotel is completely satisfactory but I wouldn't recomend if you are going for pleasure, unless you are on a tight budget and don't plan on spending much time in your room. I booked a single room, when I arrived I saw the standard charge was more than double what I had paid with late rooms. If I had paid full price I wouldn't have been happy. I have seen larger store cupboards than the room I had which basically fit a single bed a small deask and wardrobe. Probably around 1.6m x 2.0m including a wet room similar to what you would find in a carvan. Take your ear plugs if your a light sleeper as its a fairly busy road from 5:00am, am sure rooms at the back might be quieter. Couldn't fault the cleanliness at all or the bar staff. Breakfast - if you are an international traveller who hasn't sampled the English Breakfast - please don't think this counts as one go and sample a proper one, it wasn't bad at all, just not what you would expect based on room rate. There wasn't much choice and the staff are in such a rush, had to que for 20 mins 1 day just to get to sit down, which is not ideal if you need to go out.
I asked for an extra lamp the receptionist said they would get back to me but never did. Hotel is in ideal location for sightseeing and business. Overall as long as you know what to expect this wasn't too bad. Just wouldn't like it to spoil your time in London.

Hotel in great position. No 24 bus runs from outside hotel to central London and West End shows. Friendly helpful staff. Breafast O K. Room a bit on the small side but was fine for a 2 night break. Would stay again as it is in a nice area.

Poor.

Very poor accommodation, cramped, dirty, not as described. Poor quality beds and bedding. Shower was small and I would compare to that of an 80's caravan. No air con and rude staff. Book at you peril!

Good having a bus stop outside so London landmarks easy to get to.

The Hotel is in Pimlico and a good location for all the tourist sites but guests seemed to be squeezed in resulting in small rooms, poor ironing facilities and a very basic dinng room. The Hotel is NOT 4 star - the breakfast owed more to a youth hostel than a hotel but the staff were friendly and helpful which made up for the experience. For central London, quite good value but do not expect too much.

Ideal for the vertically challanged

Despite being advertised as a double room it was tiny for one person. So small that you had to climb over the bed to reach the so called wardrobe ( a pole between two up right piesces of wood).
The bed had been designed to fit the space and and was so short my feet overhung the end touching the radiator, therefore not recommended if you are more than 5ft 10ins tall.
On a positive note at least the room was clean. It still felt claustrophobic.
I was amased to see that the rackrate for the room was £229 - the price I paid via late rooms (£75) seemed high considering its size.

1 night stay at the Sidney

Everything was fine at the Sidney Hotel in London - good greeting on arrival, pleasant and helpful reception staff, size/comfort/cleanliness of room - and good value for money, particularly as it was a last minute booking. I would particularly like to thank Peter, a young guy on reception who heated up my cold pizza and found a knife and fork for me - he deserves a little medal!

Staff

In contrast to several previous reviews we found that the staff smiled, were polite and, where necessary, helpful. So any problems others found have now been sorted. We have often found that booking through wesites and getting large discounts, we are given one of the worst rooms in the hotel. This time, the room was adwquate, the bathroom tiny and we were in the basement. Perfectly hotel just for sleeping for one night, however.

Moody Staff

We arrived at the hotel full of Christmas spirit and excitement as my girlfriend had never been to London before. We were met by a miserable and slightly rude receptionist who didn't explain anything about our stay. She was more concerned about taking a deposit off us and ushering us away from the desk so that she could continue answering the phone. The room itself was okay for the money we paid, but I would never pay anywhere near the full price for the room. The bed didn't have a proper quilt on it, and had a vulgar, colourful pic-nic style blanket underneath what was on the bed as a 'duvet'.
The television in the room was ok, it's just a shame it's positioned above a wardrobe and you cant see the bottom of the screen.
Also, ignore how close to victoria coach station the description claims. It's not that close at all.
Rubbish customer service, tiny room, no proper duvet.

My nightmare stay at the Sidney Hotel

I was in a room which was so small you could hardly stand up in it and the decor was from the 1970s. It was incredibly hot - even with the heating switched off - so I had to sleep with the window open - which looked onto the busy street - all night. I therefore had a terrible nights sleep, made worse by the fact that a guest or member of staff broke the law and smoked a cigarette in the hotel at around 3am which permeated my room via the bathroom vents and work me up. There is no way on earth that this hotel should be classed as a four star. There were a number of US tourists staying there and I felt ashamed to think that they would leave London with the impression that this is what the British class as superior accommodation.

I would definitely choose to come back to this hotel

I have used Late Rooms a number of times and always search for the same hotel. On this occasion, it wasn't available, so I went for the Sydney Hotel. It was a couple of stops further down the tube line, but definitely worth it. To have a room with a really good shower and spotless bathroom is a great asset. Thank you. Simon L from Hampshire.

Good except reception

The room was adequate for our stay, just 1 night with breakfast, however the reception experience was not great.
We emailed to say what time to expect us, and when we arrived as said, the room wasn't ready. Not a great problem but a niggle. Then when we did check in, the lady at reception was taking my payment while also on the phone to another customer. I didn't make us feel terribly special.
Other than that the stay was ok.

Ok for lateroom price

Booked for overnight stay to take 11 year old son to see Imperial war Museum.
Day before we were due to go riots had broke out, so contacted hotel to see if date could be moved back till riots over. Totally unsypathetic.
Hotel was ok for London & what we paid with late rooms.
Room clean but very noisey during night with trafic / youths. Would benifit from double glazing.
Had to queue for 10 minutes at breakfast due to small dining area, but very pleasant when seated.
Would have been disapointed if paid full fee.

Ok but wouldn't stay again

The room was tiny! Me and my partner had read previous reviews saying the rooms were small but ignored it as we thought we wouldn't be spending much time in the room. However, when I had to climb over the closet/bed to get to my side I understand what the previous reviewers had meant. The room was also very hot when it wasn't even that warm outside. There was scaffolding all over the hotel which meant every now and again we would see a builder walk past our bedroom window, which we couldn't see out of due to the scaffolding. We have to queue for breakfast which I didn't mind but I felt the overall service was pretty bad, it was like we were cattle being brought in and shipped out of the breakfast room as quickly as possible. Breakfast was tasteless so I just stuck to toast. There was a friendly receptionist at the main desk who let us leave our bags in the hotel as are coach wasn't till later in the afternoon which was kind. I understand that it was a cheap hotel for london and it was in a perfect location, really close to tube stations and bus stops, but I really didn't believe it was value for money. It was pokey and reminded me slightly of uni halls. It needs a complete make over with a more personal touch from staff members.

Possibly the noisiest hotel in London

Having paid a very high price for this so called 4 star hotel i can safely say it was the worst nights sleep i have ever had and yes that is even after having 2 children. Rooms did not have air conditioning however provided a rather large ceiling fan which was so noisy it made it impossible to sleep therefore leaving us with no other option but to open the windows which lead to a very busy road which was still being used by nightclub revellers and beggers at 4am.
Breakfast was only served between 7.30 and 9 which obviously lead to a large queue at breakfast time. Then we discovered that basically is was cereal or cooked breakfast mainly consisting of tinned mushrooms , not a piece of fruit or yoghurt in sight let alone a coissant,.even the orange juice was not pure.
The rooms were basic and very small, the bathroom was made from plastic and was impossible to control the temperature of the shower, certainly not worth the £100 i paid for the night....... Don't think we shall be rushing back to this hotel again!!!!!!!!!!
Bookers beware.

Great location!

The location of the hotel was excellent. We flew into gatwick and, from there, took the gatwick express to victoria train station - the hotel was within a 5 min walk. The hotel was between victoria train/tube station and Pimico tube station, with really good bars and restaurants nearby. a favourite was the Queens Arms - big pub on the corner , seating outside, with great lunch/evening menu. bar staff friendly. The room we had was ok, bit on the small side. breakfast could have been better. The location is one of the best things about this hotel.
