Summary
There were mixed reviews on Trip Advisor but the Shaftesbury website was true in that it had been recently refurbished. Excellent quality room. The room was clean, comfortable and close to the railway station. If the hotel staff keep this standard up I’ll stay again and again!!!
Summary
I stayed at the hotel with a friend for a couple nights (Monday & Tuesday) & enjoyed the stay with very friendly helpful staff & great night staff who were more than accommodating with room service, etc.
The room was very clean & towels, linen were changed during the stay as well as the bathroom soaps, etc.
I'd stay here again for the price I paid with the only down side of my stay was that the room didn't have a fridge I could use, though there was space for one.
Generally impressed with everything. furnishing and cleanliness all good. good tv, internet connection, good breakfast, good service. room just very small (only took a single) although I didn't really mind that, would rather have this small but high spec room than a larger lower spec room.
Summary
Very good service and hotel room standards.. Obliged my request for a quiet room. will definitely stay again soon. attentive staff and very courteous and helpful. room cleaned daily -very well done to good standards too.
Summary
Very pleased with a comfortable and well furnished room and en-suite, exceeding expectations. Pity the bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupants but only a minor thing.
Summary
ID read the comments from previous people about the rooms being small. I didn't expect one smaller than my bedroom at home though. These really are just rooms in a converted mansion house. I don't think there is anything that can be done about this but there aren't many accurate pics that don't flatter the actual size.
The decor is very dated, dingy and tatty. The room was intolerably hot and I had the "air con" on all night, not that it helped much. The en-suite was ok except the shower is tiny and even then I had to run around to get all of me wet.
The staff were very friendly and the welcome very warm.
Clean and comfortable.
Good customer service.
Room was very small and right next to reception so frequent noise from chatting in reception area.
However overall I was satisfied with my stay.
Very good value for money in a central location.
It is difficult to imagine how small the single rooms are, though, and one has to be prepared for the 'cupboard' feeling. Well laid out and bathroom is elegant. Quality of bed isn't great.
Very clean and very small rooms.
Summary
I returned to my room late on my first night and found water coming through the ceiling. This was dealt with quickly and efficiently and I was moved to another room.
Car parking had been paid for. THE HOTEL NEED TO CLEARLY MARK THOSE PARKING SPACES THAT BELONG TO THEM!!! Busybody neighbours clearly have an arrangement with clamping companies and report to them within minutes of your arrival. Clamping company attend within twenty minutes to clamp - but take three plus hors to return to release it. BE WARNED!! This is a major failing with the hotel. They should ensure that a space is available - if thety have taken money for such to be provided.
Decent value for money @ laterooms prices, but would have been rather disappointing at normal price.
staff very efficient but not very friendly (even unfriendly, and on occasion not polite to each other at all) at front desk
room we ended up with was a basement room which did not have a great view
bathroom was very small but practical
Great location and perfect size rooms for short stays when travelling on your own. The only issue I had with this hotel is missing it along the road. I didn't see it and when I did find it i went to the sister hotel that is across the street but the staff at that hotel was very kind and escorted me to the appropriate hotel. i had a cozy room and it felt great after being on foot for a while!
Summary
Room is really small!
Summary
Even for a single room it was very small. On 3rd and 4th floor of hotel you enter the room by descending a staircase - which takes up half the room. The remaining space was too limited for comfort.
You cannot see the TV from the bed.
You cannot sit in the toilet if you are more than 175cm tall, and even then it is not easy.
Excellent value for the money we paid through late rooms, room was spacious and quite delux, near to tube station and very much enjoyed the stay.
Summary
Well located near to paddington Station. Rooms are a bit on the small side.
Summary
Very happy with the room even though it was in the basement. Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good but not very hot as it was buffet style. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Excellent location, within walking distance from Paddington station.
Summary
Hotel in good location. 1st two nights spent in very small "double room" with three steep steps down into room from door/hall. No chair - room too small. Had to walk sideways down 7inch gap between wall and bed to reach the coffee/tea making facilities. Bathroom tiny too however clean, modern and functional. Even for London the room is small and mid price range too - not talking bargain bucket here. 3rd night larger more decent sized room provided.
Summary
Very good value for money
Summary
Stayed with this 'chain' before and found this occasion a bit of a let down. On arrival I was told there was a problem and directed across the road to another hotel in the group. Room was small, but clean and functional. However... no remote for the TV and no ethernet cable so no web access. It was late and I couldn't be bothered to complain about it, but it wasn't impressive. Also, unusually for these hotels, I found the staff this time a bit variable - one or two were really helpful and welcoming, but another was positively perfunctory and one distinctly surly. Price, convenience of location and cleanliness are probably the only things that would draw me back...
Summary
I was not impressed with the Shaftesbury Premier London hotel at all. The cleaniness of our room was awful. On our bed there was a small brown stain and stains on the pillow. The water never got hot until the morning of the next day and the sink did not drain properly. When my finance complained about the sheets the person at the desk came up to the room to verify what he told them. Then the most he could do was get us new sheets for the bed, which was fine as long as they were clean. I helped make the make the bed at 11pm that night with the hotel employee. It was not a great experience...especially since the shower only got luke warm that night. It wasnt until the next morning that we actually had hot water.
Summary
Lovely hotel, service was amazing from the moment i walked it to when i left. The room was excellent for the price and came with more than i could of wanted. I would definately stay at the Shafesbury in Paddington again.
Summary
The room was so noisy because it wasnot double glazing
Summary
This is an excellent, value for money, hotel located a few minutes from Paddington Station. I booked a single room which, although a bit small, had all the conveniences one would expect (good shower and bathroom, flat screen TV, ironing board, bottled water, tea/coffee).
Not sure what a proper double room would be like but for a single business traveller who wants a room for 1 or 2 nights at £55/night it would be hard to beat.
The Hotel is a few minutes walk from PADDINGTON station and I found it with ease. A clean and pleasant foyer together with courteous and attentive staff greet you. My room was small but not oppressively so and certainly adequate for a few nights stay. I found the bed very comfortable being at least ample for my 5' 11, 13 and a half stone. The bathroom (or rather shower room) was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. The room was well ventilated and certainly warm enough. The experience wasa pleasant one and much better than a few I have had recently in London! I would certainly recommend it and would visit again.
We opened the door and you had to go down 3/4 steep steps into the room, the room was clean and well decorated but had a very strong smell of sewage in the bathroom. Nicely decorated but there was not room to walk around the bed, we had to side step and dress one at a time. The bathroom was equally as small, toilet bowl cracked. Only paid £60 definitely not worth any more. Paid £22 for the breakfast, it was nearly 10am when we went down to the restaurant due to such a poor nights sleep, the staff did not give us time to get food they were putting it all away but cerntainly not worth the money much better to eat out. The plus side, the hotel was very warm.
Summary
Stayed here just after Christmas and it was great......only 65 quid and the place was clean tidy and very nice all round. Would recommend it to anyone as I thought it was superb value.
Summary
The room and double bed is very small. It is comparable to my experience in the tiniest hotel room in my Tokyo stay. The photos shown on laterooms.com is not what I get. But for GBP65, that is reasonable for a location 2 blocks from Marble Arch. The bed creaks and sinks sideways, neither my wife nor I have a good sleep.
Summary
The price was low for the district where the hotel is situated. It is not far from Paddington railway and underground station. Room was very clean, but it was very small, so I had to put my luggage on clothes cabinet to have enough room to walk around. Bathroom was tiny too. I wouldn't value this hotel for 4 stars.
Me and my husband stayed here for 1 night. The room was small but designed well with everything we needed. Small bathroom with quality fittings and clean. Nicely decorated and the bed was comfy. Good location for a night out in the west end, Soho or Portobello road. Overall all good for a short stay. Parking cost extra and its on a first come first served basis.
Summary
Very professional. Room was very nice and well lauded out. Seemed like it was aimed at Woking professionals. Only two negatives. A buffet breakfast was not included in room price (£15 each) also the staff did their job very well but there was no warmth behind it. The only truly friendly staff were the doorman.
Summary
Nicely renovated hotel in a great location but some of the double rooms are so small they require gymnastic efforts to get in and out of bed.
Summary
Despite being booked to a club room, with parking ( pre-requisite of the booking), there were no club rooms available and so I stayed at the Grand a few hundred yards away, which didnt have parking and which cost over £100 in the nearby NCP
Summary
The staff was very nice but the rooms ??????????????????
no refrigerator in the room
aircontioners were not working you just feel the fan of the A/C

Summary
Nice hotel and very good location if using tube or rail via Paddington, very small room but spotless comfortable and quiet, very good breakfast .
Summary
Fine except for the size of the room. It was so small you had to shuffle sideways to get past the bed. I rather suspect prison cells are considerably larger. I asked if there was a larger room available and was told that all single rooms are that small.
Summary
Very enjoyable experience. Excellent value for money. Convenient position. Lady on reception very welcoming as we got that and porter at the end of visit very helpful and pleasant. Given a quiet room as requested. Would stay again.
Summary
Good location-close to underground station, convenient to most place in London but a little noisy at night as my room faces to main road. My room is a little small but very clean and tidy. I still think that the price is a little high based on the hotel location and room quality.
