Rooms fine , breakfast could be better
Summary
This is one of the best London hotels we've stayed in. it's very close to both Paddington and Lancaster Gate tubes and is run by a friendly team of people who seem keen for guests to have a good stay.
The room was clean and well-stocked. We have stayed here before and knew not to stay on the ground floor (too noisy) - hence why we stayed on the 2nd floor.
The room had plenty of amenities - even a microwave (unusual!),
I booked the double room for two and it was very very small. The bathroom is just enough for my baby only.
Summary
Efficient reception. Comfortable room with good shower, comfortable bed, quiet room (overlooking side street), heating/cooling unit in room, large tv with fair choice of channels, small desk space for working. Good value at £79 room only. £15 for breakfast is a bit steep so I went elsewhere!
Summary
Felt like harry potter, unfriendly staff, awful atmosphere, dull and dreary rooms, never again!
Summary
My room (club) was a decent size compared to other London hotels I've stayed in. While the hotel is actually on quite a busy road my room must have been a the back because it was really, really quiet and I got an excellent night of sleep. Excellent facilities in the room - modern, clean bathroom; big, flatscreen TV; hot drink making facilities; well stocked fridge. Also had a desk - important for me as i was working and often cheaper hotels don't provide a desk. Clean and modern deco.
Summary
On arrival we were told we were being upgraded, but when we saw our room we wondered how small our room would have been originally. Staff were good and generally it was good value for money for a central London location.
Summary
This is the 5th or 6th time that I've stayed at the Shaftesbury Metropolis London Hyde Park. The reception was swift and efficient, I was upgraded to a higher spec room without asking and my stay was as good as always. The room was clean and very comfortable with all essentials to hand. The location is very convenient for Paddington Station and Edgware Road. I will certainly stay here again.
Summary
Recently refurbished room, somewhat compact but fine, nice quality fixtures and fittings, nice TV, quiet outlook over mews at the back. Walking distance from Paddington station on main roads. Close to bike rental station. Skipped the pricey breakfast and helped myself to very nice large apple from the bowl at reception. Will definitely stay here again.
