We stayed at the hotel as we were in London to watch the football. The location was excellent being two minutes walk from the nearest tube station. A good selection of local shops and eateries nearby. The room was clean and comfortable and the upgrade to a club room was well worth it. The full English breakfast was well cooked and there was an excallent selection of food. The only downside was the shower which was not very powerful but that was only a minor grumble. Well worth a visit.

We booked a club room and had every facility provided as advertised with the exception of the turn down service, not the hotels fault they were unaware we were out for the evening. Stated we had use of the club lounge although we didn't find that as we were only there one night and in the hotel fairly briefly. excellent selection for breakfast (included in the club room) although could have done with small plates being provided in the service area for bakery products (rolls croissants etc).superbly located approx three mins walk from earls court underground station. We paid £119 for the club room but they were advertised in the hotel for between £200 & £300 per room, don't think i would have paid that! but was happy with my stay

Let's be clear from the start - this hotel is probably fine, but I doubt you will get to find out. The 4-star status of this hotel is used to lure people in so they book it at what seems a good rate, then you get shipped of to one of their other hotels which otherwise wouldn't get the business. We were moved to the Kensington House which is across the road. It's acceptable, but the rooms are small - even for London. The only reason you could walk around the bed was because it was 6 inches shorter than normal. The room was clean, apart from an odd stain on the ceiling, but the TV was badly tuned and the water pressure was low. We also got a twin instead of a double.Because we were moved we got a free breakfast back in the main hotel, which was a bit of a shambles - poorly organised and slow. The cooked food was OK, if a little greasy. Pastries were stale and the yoghurts were terrible.Overall it was OK for one night, but if we were staying any longer I would have made a fuss about getting a room in this actual hotel. For £95, the Premier Shaftesbury Kensington would be OK, but be aware that you will most likely be moved to a hotel which you might be able to get for less.

Its not that the hotel was disgusting, just not what we experienced last year or expect from a 4 star hotel. When we arrived we were advised we were in the extension of the hotel. The extension is actually down the road, across the road and on the corner of the next street. Not staffed, just like a halls of residence. We didn't like that it was not staffed as you feel quite vulnerable. Also, we paid and booked into the hotel, not the extension - it should have been advised when the booking was made. In my room the back was missing of the remote control, I could only get channel 1 and 4 on the tv, the headboard was hanging off the wall - velcro attachment visible, there were no shampoos etc in the room either. My colleague had a duff TV with crappy signal and no shampoos. When we went down across the room to the main hotel for breakfast there was cleaners equipment in our hallways which my colleague managed to trip over - this was at 9am. When I got the lift down there was a vacuum cleaner (henry type) with the lid off and a dead cockroach in the hoover. Nice. We met the clients at the hotel for a drink before going to the awards ceremony and had to wait over 20 minutes for a G&T as they had run out of tonic and had to run to the shop to buy some. After the show we had to wait for 15 minutes to collect our bags as the man who does this was giving extensive directions to other customers for tourist attractions, this is fine, what is not was the two other reception staff stood there doing nothing who could have gotten our bags for us. The whole hotel looked tired and grubby and smelt of old food.It was more like a youth hostel than a four star hotel.

On check-in I was presented with the key to a windowless room in the basement. This couldn't possibly have had a 200+ rack rate. In fairness to the staff, when I complained they relocated me to a room in a different building about 200 metres from the main hotel. It was tiny, but at least it had a window. Although the bathroom had been recently refitted, the sink wouldn't drain. The internet connection didn't work, and the tv barely worked. The A/C cut out when I turned the lights off. The hotel was clean and comfortable but the electronic door key did not work once I had carried my luggage down the stairs to the underground floor.I asked a passing housekeeping employee to let me in but she could not believe that I had been allocated a deluxe room. It took some time for her to agree to let me in. The rrom was nice and comfortable but the tv signal was scrambled for the terrestrial channels which was frustrating as news was just breaking about Gordon Brown resigning and I wanted to keep in touch with current affairs. I asked for assistance but little could be given by fiddling with the tv itself. It later fixed itself so I suspect they realised they has scrambled the signal by accident. Apart from that all was well and I got a very good price for booking it on the same day.

Well on this occasion I could not fault the place, although we didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food. The hotel is ideally situated for Earl's court tube station. The staff on reception were polite and the room was very clean and modern with tea and coffee making facities/ironing board/iron/flat screen tv and even had a microwave. It wasn't the biggest room I have ever stayed in but it served our purpose, which was somewhere to sleep for a couple of nights.

We had a room on the first floor which was very small!! The Bed must have been 130x200 or so.. it is nearly impossible to sleep with two people in it. There were only two pillows and instead of a normal duvet there was a rug on the bed (without a top sheet). There where three black hair on the bed which made me think if they actually changed the lining on the bed. The carpet wasn't hovered properly, the blind was broken, batteries in the TV remote and the A/C were broken, Iron board was dangerous to use as it kept folding together (lucky I was holding the iron in my hand) and the main light switch for the room didn't work as well so we needed to take to room card out of the holder next to the door to switch off all electrics in the room. The towel rail was half broken out of the wall to that the towels nearly fall into the bathtub. I asked the reception staff for extra pillows and they looked at me if they didn't know what I am talking about. After explaining to the supervisor we finally got two extra pillows after 20 minutes. I work myself in a AA 4 star inspectors choice hotel. We have inspections from Mystery Shopper, AA, Michelin.... and I know why we got our 4 stars. They should be rated 2 or less! Next time I will stay within our Hotel Group (at least I know what I get). If you go to Tripadvisor you will find more of this. I don't know why they call them self Premier - the only premier thing was the working sink. Oh I forgot to tell that the toilet flush didn't work. Well my advise is to avoid this hotel.

Overall a very enjoyable stay with my girlfriend indeed, staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and kitted out with exactly what was advertised which is not always the case with hotels. In fact the only complaint I would have is with the restaurant, not to say the food was bad at all just felt it was average considering the price. The breakfast was very good however with cooked breakfast and continental with a lot of variety, with the option of eggs to order etc. Location is very good being a 2-3 minute walk from earls court. I would definitely stay at this hotel again as it has the high standards I expect.

Good hotel and great location inside Zone 1 of the underground. I was very relieved to find the hotel located down a quiet street and not on the main road. Our room was at the back of the hotel and I upgraded us to a Club Room to ensure the bed was larger than a standard double. Room was very nice, plenty of space, big bed and nice furnishings. Bathroom was also good - great shower! Hotel is a very short walk from the underground and there was plenty going on in the surrounding streets. Breakfast was a little hectic and the buffet a little weak on selection - no porridge - but these are minor details.

However this was let down by the 3rd world and puerile idea of paying "upfront" for the rooms and then having to check out to pay for add ons! Absolute nonsense, it is quite obvious that the owners are not from Western Europe. If they can change that, improve the public areas it would be nice. Breakfast?? How this hotel can be considered four star is a joke. The double room I booked was very small. The desk chair was so close to the bed, I could not move it out from under the desk to sit down. Wardrobe doors could not be opened fully unless I stood on the bed to do so. When I checked in to the room, the waste bin from the previous occupant had not been emptied. Decor was shabby and tired looking. Take my advice, spend a little more and check in to the Premier Inn just around the corner.

Although we checked in at the main hotel we were then taken to a separate building further along the street where our room was located. The brass plaque on the wall inside the building suggested we would be staying in an executive suite. When we were shown to our ground floor room we were slightly disappointed to find the room was very small and felt a little bit like a cupboard. The room was very dark and lighting was poor. A single wardrobe was supplied but stored inside was an iron and ironing board, a quilt and extra pillows which didn't leave much room for hanging clothes. There was a portable radiator and a standard lamp in the room which took up essential floor space. On a positive note the accommodation was clean and the bathroom, although some of the spotlights weren't working and there was no extractor fan, was clean and modern. Being located near the front door was rather loud and annoying, especially early morning and late night. Location was good for tube station and local amenities. On a positive note we were only in the room to sleep and shower and had an enjoyable time in London.

The room was remote from ther main hotel, very small and cramped, uncomfortably hot (aircon was poor) and various items were broken - these must have been obvious to the cleaning staff, but went unfixed. So, OK at £80 (+ breakfast), but wouldn't have paid a penny more and no way would anyone be paying over £100 for this type and size of accommodation.

Out of a party of four three had poor experiences with this hotel. One member of our party was told that his room was across the room at a 'sister' hotel because the hotel was fully booked but that the rooms were of the same standard. When he got to his room it was extremely small and completely unacceptable. He was then given a room in another 'sister' hotel with pretty much the same result. He was then given a room in the basement that was also small but this time had the 'advantage' of not having a window! When he complained about this room the hotel miraculously found a room which was on the third floor and was fine. Another member of the party's room had air conditioning which was only capable of producing cold air; when he asked for it to be fixed he was told that it was not possible to fix it until the next day. The third member of our party was perfectly happy with his room until 0300 when there was a very loud rattling noise which went on for 20 minutes. This was repeated twice more during the night.

Chose to stay here as I had used the hotel on my last trip. At that time the window of the room was stuck so it was very noisy, but on the second night I was moved to a room on a higher floor at the back of the hotel- perfect. So I booked it because I was familiar with the area, it was close to where I needed to be, and I'd felt the service and value previously was very good- assuming I didn't get a room at the front of the hotel (quite noisy). I requested a room at the back on a high floor, and arrived to get... a room in the basement. Granted, they'd upgraded me, which was nice as the rooms are very small and it does give that little bit of extra space, but I did feel a bit like I was suffocating. The alternative was a miniscule room at street level to the front, which meant that I could hear every passer-by, so I took the basement. It was fine- I didn't suffocate and other than hotel doors being slammed every ten minutes until the wee small hours, and being able to hear a conversation in a room across the hall, and the wardrobe door being opened in the room next door (go figure) I didn't hear anything:o) It is well located and great value-for-money when you get it at £85 as I did. Also, the first time I stayed I used tesco clubcard points and got it for 2 nights for just under £2. That was nice!

I have stayed here before as it is a generally very good quality hotel in an excellent and convenient location. However, I was very disappointed in this most recent stay. The room I was originally allocated (008 on the basement floor) was fine and actually a really good size and well finished. However, the flatscreen TV didn't seem to work so I called reception to ask someone to take a look at it. When noone had arrived 20 minutes later I called again and someone came round, took the TV off the wall but was then unable to fix it back on again. After calling another colleage to help they were still unable to fix it - all the while I was trying to get ready to go out to attend a work function. Just before I left reception called to say they would transfer me to another room whilst I was out so I didn't have time to see the new room before I left. When I returned late in the evening it turned out that my room was literally just off the reception area (room 14). It was much smaller and more shabby than my original room, very overheated, and worst of all very noisy as adjoined both reception and the street. Also, the volume on the TV in this room didn't have a very loud maximum volume. But by this point I was too tired and felt it was too late to be asked to move again. I felt the room I was in should not have been used as a guest room as it was far too small and noisy. Especially for £95 per night! I would be very wary of staying here again to be honest despite the great location.

Booked my hotel at Earls Court for a reason, when I got there I was informed the bolier was broken and two floors were unusable. I enquired why the hotel was not shut down as there was only one boiler, no decent answer and back tracking on the one boiler story.. I was informed someone had tried to call me on my mobile to inform me of this, a call I never recieved. After being told I was being moved to a hotel 5 minutes away by taxi, I was asked to wait in the bar for a couple of minutes whilst the taxi came, this took 20 minutes. When we got to the new hotel 20 minutes later, I was given my room key. I went to the room and there was a gentleman in the room, he had been there for two nights. I went back to reception and was upgraded to a club room (not the kind of upgrade you want). I had to argue to get taxis between the hotels paid for by the Shaftesbury as I had plans back in Earls Court and I now found myself in Paddington. To make matters worse on the taxi journey back later that evening from Earls Court to Paddington, the driver dropped me at the wrong hotel, when I explained this to staff they told me it was not their fault, I disagree you put me in another hotel. What was noticeable in both hotels was the lack of Duty & General Managers to deal with these issues. I travel to London often as do my colleagues and large amount of friends, acquaintances and clients. I will be making everyone aware of the Earls Court scam, where they overbook then blame a boiler and move you 5 tube stops away to a wholly inappropriate location.

On one of those occasions to a very poor quality hotel. On each occasion I've had colleagues travelling with me who have all suffered the exact same problem. In all cases the hotel is still open for other guests. Beware of this, you might not get the hotel you are expecting.I arrived in the late evening to be told there was a problem with the hot water at this hotel and that i had been moved to an equivalent sister hotel across the road. The room i got was tiny, with a double bed and about 2 foot of space around it. The shower room was very small, about 1.2m x 2m. This contained a shower, sink and toilet, so almost no room to move around (and i am not a large person)I could hear the trains going under the hotel all night (every 5 minutes or so) and so got very little sleep. The room was also very cold so i had to ask for extra blankets. The iron and ironing board were also missing (not that there was any space to have stored it) but the staff brought one within 10 minutes of requesting one.Over all I was very disappointed with my stay and would not recommend using this chain of hotels.

Having made my booking at approximately 1600hrs online, and then driving to the hotel arriving at 2045, i was extremely unhappy to be told that there was no accommodation there that night as they had had boiler problems all day, and that there was no hot water. I was told that i would have to move to their sister hotel in Paddington. This was pretty poor, as it was another 35 minute drive (not 10 minutes like they said), and subsequently miles away from my meeting in Kensington the next morning. On arrival at Paddington, i was but in a box room, with not enough room to put the ironing board up, with a single bed (despite booking a double). On complaint, i was transfered to a suite which was good. The next morning, guess what, no hot water due to an airlock, and also that my shower hose was broken (as explained by the maintenance man). Was offered chance to move room, but with a very short time left to my meeting, i had to have a stand up wash with cold water. Asked for my money back to the manager, who said that i had could have 20%. I declined, and will be taking it further. I spend approximately £20k in hotels on business each year, i will not return to best western until this is sorted.

Room 101 says it all. To say this was meant to be a club room is a joke. Before you start offering a turn down service and free newspaper you have to get the basics right. The bed was uncomfortable to say the least and the bedding was of such poor quality. you could actually see through the duvet with the cover on, with the occasional clump of stuffing, it looked like mole hills. The radiator cover was propped up away from the radiator, which was handy when we reported that there was no heating in the room ,it gave the maintanance man easy access, but alas we never had any heating. Must be a long running problem i think and the sink probably still doesn't have a plug that fits. Where do I start! Well, we arrived at the the hotel in question at around 20.30 only to be told that we were being moved to a differnet hotel due to the room we should have stayed in 'having a leaking roof', funny that as they told the people in front of us the same story, were we all booked into the same room? For our troubles they gave us a 'complimentary drink' whilst we waited for the taxi to take us to the new hotel and a 'complimentary breakfast' for the morning......wow.On the way to our new hotel our taxi driver laughed and said, 'what is their excuse this time', I also chuckled as I thought they were upto something and apparently this excuse is used quite a lot amongst others! So we ended up 3 miles out the way in Paddington, ok not the end of the world. The room in 'Park Grand Hotel'. It was very very cold when we went in, o this was after they first sent us to a room with two single beds, they put us into a room with a double which I had booked no problem. So yes, very cold, seemed like it had not been used for a while. Single glazed windows so noise from outside was very clear. Im not too sure that the air con worked in the room as it didnt make any noise, nor could I feel anything coming out the vent. The tv kept turning itself on, so I had to unplug it everythime we had finished with it. The shower in the bathroom took a very long time to drain therefore it flowed out the shower cubicle and on to the bathroom floor (had to put spare towels on the floor to soak it up). The worst part was the noise that was coming from the air con system/vent area, I dont think it was the air con itself it sounded more like a toilet cistern filling up but very loudly and went on for a good 30mins at various times throughout the night and woke me up on many occasion. So all in all not the best stay in a hotel I have ever had! It was more like faulty towers than a '4*' hotel. Will not be staying with Best Western nor the Shaftesbury group again. Very disappointed.

Half bottle of wine which was actually not that bad in the room- free newspaper in the morning. I first discovered the hotel through laterooms in December where we stayed in room on the first floor, a Club Room which was just palacial. The decor was clean and well done, the light in the room made it feel airy and welcoming, the space was unbeatable because its at a premium in London. We had breakfast in our room at 11.00am and were served very well. I couldn't have asked for a better stay. The hotel is a stone's throw away off the A4 and is easy to find at Earl's Court. Parking is a drawback as we had to pay £30 per day to park in the Marriott car park but managed, on the weekend (Saturday) to park locally for free on one of the side streets. I aimed to stay for 2 nights fir next time as we'd had such a great stay.On the second occasion (January for 2 nights), we opted for another Club Room but were served very substandardly. The room was half the size, the fruit as presented in cling film baskets rather than presented freshly in ceramic bowls, the beds was positioned in a place where we smacked our shins several times a day and the bath size was small. The television failed to work. This was nowhere near to the size of room we had before and it was boiling in the night despite having the AirCon on all night on 16degrees. We were horridly rushed at breakfast and staff cleaned around our table and acted as though they were desperate for people to leave before being forced to leave the table. Once I put my knife or fork or spoon down, it was whisked away and I often had to ask for another piece of cutlery in its place.I get the feeling that they call every room a Club room. I think its at their discretion to give out the best rooms to those who they think might spend some money in the hotel. Don't get a basement room as there are no windows. I refused the first one we were given. Overall, the hotel is great but nowhere near 4 Star. The bar closes early and forget drinking past midnight even if you're a resident. The location is fab and if you're lucky, the rooms very plush but we were unlucky this time. They're a bit inconsistent and staff anf young and very studenty perhaps needing a few lessons in speaking to customers but I think that's quite common in inner cities.Wouldn't put me off coming again, maybe next year and at that price, who can argue?!!

If I could get the last room at the last rate I would use it regularly and it would be great value for money. However because of the massive price changes it leaves a bit to be desired. Would I stay again, depends on "the deal" and a specified room!

This hotel was pathetic. On my first night, i stayed in a room downstairs. The single window was concreted over, so there was no natural light. The fridge didn't work, the tv didn't work, the bathroom tv turned on and off when it felt like it, the radiator was broken and the bathroom sink was clogged. I began to tell a man at the reception everything that was not working - he cut me off with a look that suggested he'd heard what i was saying quite a few times and told me he'd have someone check the appliances in my room. When i got back from dinner, surprise surprise, nothing had been checked. the next day i complained and a different woman at the reception, offered to move me to a different room. The new room was upstairs and had windows at least. However, again, the fridge didn't work, and actually looked like something out of stalinist russia. Furthermore, the bathroom sink was clogged and was actually omitting quite a dirty smell, like garbage. Finally, the bathroom fan, in the roof, was very noisy and occassionally would speed up and make an extremely loud whistling noise... The only way to stop it was to turn of the room's power at the front door. i couldn't be bothered to complain a second time, so i put up with this room. This hotel is just so pathetic, nothing seems to work, even the water cooler in the gym is broken. I also thought it was pathetic when the man i initially complained to, on the front desk, explained to me that the fridges were only supposed to keep things mildly cold. A fridge is a fridge! The temperature of them was no different to the room. What sort of four star hotel uses obviously dodgy fridges and then pretends that they are in working order.

However, stairs to get upto the hotel so those with heavy luggage should watch out! We got the deluxe room which is nicely done actually with flat screen TV and nice big bed, everything seems nicely decorated. Also has a fridge and microwave. Only problem being, the shower is so weak, you could take 10 minutes longer having a shower, it is extremely weak! Also for light sleepers, be aware that there is radiator water flowing noise all throughout the night. Also can here virtually everything from next door room.

It was by far one of the worst hotel stays I have encountered ever.I originally booked a room at the best western Shaftesbury and did so because I have stayed at Best Western Hotels before and associate the brand with good quality so I was actually looking forward to my stop over in London and having a good night sleep.Upon arrival I was told that I would not be staying at the Shaftesbury but instead would stay at the Hogarth across the road due to maintenance issues and my breakfast would be complimentary as an apology for this. The member of staff on the desk assured me that the room would be "exactly the same".I have to say that my initial impressions of the room were of disappointment, very small, very small window but I assumed the bed would e comfy, the tv would recieve a good reception, there would be free wifi and the bathroom would be functional and I went for a drink at the Shaftesbury.Later, I climbed into bed and heard a very loud creak and realised the bed was leaning out beneath me, the bed was too short (and I'm only 5ft5) and the matress very lumpy. The bedding was damp and not of good quality. The tv didn't recieve an adaquate signal, the toilet cisturn wa constantly running until I flushed it again in the bathroom and the noise from the trains and from the bathrooms of the surrounding noise was too much. I tried to phone reception but there wasn't a phone in the room so i got dressed and went to reception to see if I could be moved, I was told that the manager would visit and sort it out, I stayed up to wait for him or her, 45 minutes later there was still no manager so I informed reception that I was going to bed, the man at reception offered to bring up a bottle of wine... So I could drink myself to sleep? The final straw was at 6:25am when the lights in the room switched on. No light switch would turn them off. So I had a shower and went to breakfast.I recieved £15 off my bill as compensation and was told by the lady at reception to email her next time I come to stay. I'm still not happy, I'm currently sat in a coffee shop trying to boost myself with caffiene as I have had no real sleep!

Had to clean it out myself. The ethernet internet link in the room was "spotty" in performance, and would have liked more speed and reliability for business purposes as I was downloading major documents. Very convenient location: just around the corner from Earl's Court and therefore on Distrist, Circle and Piccadily tube lines. Hotel occupies both sides of the street, and I was a bit disappointed to find I had been given a room across the street, on a corner, and on the ground floor. I experienced a fair bit of street noise and the windows weren't double-glazed so it was a bit chilly. I also disliked being a lone female traveller in a ground floor room. I had to keep the curtains drawn to have any privacy when I was trying to work in the morning, and there weren't enough lamps in the room to prvide suffiencient light. The heating/air-con system didn't seem very effective and I ended up using the extra wool blanket provided. First impression of the room was one of luxury, but on closer inspection little things were wrong: no milk in the tray for tea, plugs that had to be fully removed to allow water to flow out of the bath or sink... Everything was obviously fairly new, but the room was really quite small, and it might've been worthwhile getting the furniture custom-fit to the small, oddly shaped room (obviously part of a much larger room at one point and noisy neighbours would have been a nightmare). Great to have microwave, kettle, fridge, iron and ironing board... although getting the latter out made moving around the room something of a challenge. Breakfast was good, tea and coffee brought to the table, but at over £11, make sure you've got an appetite and take full advantage!

Ideal location! Terrific reception on check in and shown to my room. The route to my room was quite convoluted as the hotel has expanded by taking over adjoining houses, meaning a trip down stairs along various corridors and back up stairs was necessary. The receptionist showed me a very convenient short cut - back out the front door and then in through a side door a little down the pavement and Voila! There was the corridor to my room. The room by the way was superb, as was the ensuite! I was in and out quite a lot during the evening and used the side door all the time. The BIG downside was that some staff have chosen the enclosed stairwell here as their smoking place, instead of going out onto the street. There was a big smelly blue cloud of smoke to walk through from the hotel, down the short flight of steps out to the street and some of the lazier ones sat right by the inner door so that their smoke was polluting the hotel corridor as well. Cannot stand having to hold my breath, usually too late - or having my clothes smell !! If that issue is sorted out, I would not hesitate to stay here again later in the year when I bring my family over.

My partner and i had chosen to stay in the Best Western Inn Shaftsbury Kensington as it was within walking distance to our evening pre-booked entertainment and resturant booking. However, upon arrival we were informed of a maintenace problem and told we were being upgraded to a sister hotel in Paddington. This was inconvenient as our 2-days stay in London had been pre-booked and original hotel chosen due to it's location and value for money, however, my partner and i appreciated that there were unforseen circumstances for the change of hotel. Unfortunately, we were moved to the Park Grand hotel in Paddington and although this is marked as a five star hotel, the set-up and service at this hotel was laughable. In fact, if you didn't laugh you'd cry!!!It was the hotel's first day of openning. It was chaotic, full of unhappy guests and workmen! We were dropped off at this hotel as the hotel entrance step was still being built. The door was stuck. The water was brown and we were asked not to drink from the tap. The hairdryer didn't work, we had to call for a housekeeper who later called a workman. The sockets weren't activated. There wasn't an iron board or iron in the room and when we phoned for one, it took three phonecalls and one hour and a half later for an iron to be brought to the room (i went downstairs and had to bring the board up to the room myself). The lift nearest our room took us to the groundfloor full of workmen painting and laying carpet. Finally, our complementary taxi was going to be 40minutes late, we had a pre-booked planned - the hotel manager did walk us 10 minutes to a main street to haul a taxi in the main street.I appreciate that the original hotel found us alternative accomodation, but this is far from what is expected from a five star hotel. In my opinnion, the Park Grand hotel should not have been opened to the public without being fully prepared. The staff were very stressed out and embarressed with the service they were providing. Both myself and my partner were very disappointed with the service and accomodation provided to us from using this service and would think twice before using it again.

Having read existing reviews to the effect that booking at a discount rate online sees you placed in the lower basement in a room without a window, I requested a room *with window* at the time of making the reservation. I checked in, mentioned this, and things seemed to be going OK -- until I was given the key for a room in the lower basement without a window. Basement living has advantages: it is sometimes very quiet and strangely restfull in the bowels of the earth, with no moonlight, still less sunlight, to disturb one's dreams. Alas, in this hotel, the basement rooms are poorly sound proofed. That said, my neighbour responded promptly to a polite knock on the partition wall, reducing the volume of their TV (affixed to the same partition). And so the night passed uneventfully. I even figured out how to reduce the stifling heat (it *is* possible to switch off the furnace-radiator in the bathroom if you get down and and twiddle awhile).Come the next morning I fancied the continental breakfast, which I had not booked or paid for, so requested a single setting in the near empty breakfast room via the youthful hostess with the clipboard and smart black trouser suit. Since the charge for the *self-service* breakfast is only £5, while the required deposit (in addition to full payment on arrival) is £10, I didn't imagine this would cause particular concern. Surprisingly, I met with a worried, flustered look, and the possibly inexperienced maitresse was obliged to consult with colleagues while I waited at the head of a gradually forming queue. After time enough for my stomach to rumble and my cheeks to flush, I turned tail and headed to Starbucks where I had a perfectly satisfactory muffin and coffee for £3.50.So, in all, a mixed experience. Many staff appear to be well trained and working hard. Others appear to be floundering or even have peculiar attitudes. I probably wouldn't recommend this place, but if you did end up crashing here late in the evening you'll almost certainly emerge unscathed: if hungry.

There is still a window frame, curtains and backdrop is lit with daylight when room is lit....and stars at night when lights are off. Sounds corny, but is very sweet and much appreciated.TV in bath in our room however wasn't working and we were told rooms were being upgraded but tv didn't look like a new addition. Also, although it said internet through tv free in every room, it also didn't work and only broadband connection available to plug into laptop. All small faults, staff friendly, 2 minute walk from earl's court tube station, close to lots of pubs, restaurants, cafe's and great for Earl's Court convention centre. Will return again for sure, will ask for room on ground of first floor but staying in our room was perfect for short stays.

Something was wrong at Best Western so they transferred to a place across the road with complimentary breakfast which I didn't get to use. Hopefully they gave me an equivalent accommodation.

First impressions of the hotel were average. I was disapointed to realize that my second room booking was not on the system, but was corrected. However, the front office staff were appalling. I've worked in hotels for several years myself, and this hotel's biggest problem was the staff. At one point, the receptionists were having a personal arguement, and the other receptionist was telling a guest that Notting Hill Market was open, even though it was Sunday... The hotel otherwise was clean and nicely decorated, even though the room was very small. Location wise, great spot, just a stroll to Earls Court Station.Rated as a 4 Star, no chance, lucky to be granted 3 stars in my opinion.

I stayed here when visiting Earls Court. It is worth upgrading to a superior room, I paid £129 inc breakfast and thought this was excellent value for money. Great range of TV channels, large flat screen TV, desk, free wi-fi, free wine and fruit. The staff were superb, at breakfast, in the bar and on reception. If you like small hotels with a bit of character you will like this. Not sure what the normal rooms are like.

We were booked in to the Shaftsbury at Hogarth rd, and were moved to the Paddington Suite, which was poor service, given we had specifically chosen the Earls Court area because of business reasons. We did not find out the change in hotels until the day and had to pay for taxis which we were not compensated for and had we known in advance we would have chosen somewhere else closer to our business venue. The rooms were tiny and the costs of what we paid did not match the quality at all.

The room was well-appointed if a little small. However, the room was in the basement and there was no natural light, which I was not expecting and made the room claustrophobic. The room had lots of facilities, including a fridge and microwave, but the fridge barely kept my milk at room temperature, which was a bit pointless, and a complaint at reception did not improve this. Everything looked very nice, but not everything worked as well as it should. However, for my purpose it was absolutely fine, since I wasn't in the room during the day, but if you'd been expecting a luxury room you might have been disappointed.

This was the 4th time I have booked this hotel. This time I was with 2 colleagues. We were horrified to find out at check in that one of us was being transferred to Paddington, another was being transferred to Bayswater, however another collegue was staying put - all because of a "plumbing problem" which we later were told by a taxi driver was a rouse to cover sever over booking. He said that Earls Court is often overbooked and he ferries customers to less booked sister hotels! They were unable to find 2 rooms so we could both stay, the best they could do was to find a room for one of us! This was across the road in their sister building. The room smelt of damp, Lights didn't work properly, there were 2 areas on the ceiling where there had been previous leaks, the shower hose had a rather large hole in in that meant a secondary spray was going on, the TV didn't work, the walls were severely marked. Over all it made the room feel very substandard. Room 644 also suffers really badly from noise from the neighbouring room, I think the occupant showered or bathed at least twice, which kept me awake until gone midnight. My colleague stay in bayswater wasn't much better, with the room being so small she couldn't get round the bed to close the curtains and it being in an a residential area with no local conveniences from food. Not good.

We started October with a two night stay in a nicely appointed but dark bedroom on the lower ground floor - room 12. The overhead 'mood' lighting meant it was too dark to see in the mirror to use the hairdryer! and to see what you had stored in the wardrobe safe. However, the fridge and microwave were spotlessly clean as were the bathroom and towels provided. We never dined in the restaurant. Although all staff we had dealings with were very friendly, attentive and knowledgable, especially when offering their 'left luggage facility' when we checked out so we could make the most of our stay without our bags in tow.All communal areas we explored were clean and vases of lilies located throughout the labyrinth of corridors provided a heady natural perfume as you wandered through the hotel. One negative point we encountered was an emergency exit a staff member showed us as a short cut for a way out of the building ....it had been left wide open on a couple of occasions enabling the public to gain access to the hotel posing apotential security risk. This exit area also had an inviting lobby area for any potential homeless individual looking for shelter .Excellent location for Earls Court tube though. We would consider a return visit but perhaps opt for a bedroom that was not in the basement.

Stayed one night in a club room, which had plenty of room. Great location, two minutes from Earls Court Road and tube station, but hotel nice and quiet. Only minor point was that the shower was not very strong. Otherwise no hesitation in recommending. The only meal we had was breakfast, which was very good. Customer service was fine, but we only needed it for checking in and out.

I had a single room. It was a small box room that was too small and cramped to enable any meaningful working environment. Even changing was difficult. I have been in bigger camper vans. The TV allegedly satellite was poor, and it did not receive standard UK freeview stations. It did get CNN and sky news.

The staff were very friendly but the hotel was a bit shabby. I often wonder if you book your room and get a reduced rate you get less favourable room. That seems to be my experience and I book a room every week. I had a room on the lower flor under street level and the room was OK, a decent size with everything needed but the walk down a maze of narrow dark corriders made me feel oppressed. THe hotel smelt of air freshener or carpet cleaner and hid a musty smell. The gym consisted of a running machine that dind't work and an excercise bike that was jammed in position with a height for some one much taller than me. It obviously wasn't well used. Excellent location for the tube and earls court but not somewhere I'd choose to stay again unless I really had to

The room was very comfortable, exactly as pictured on the website, and the hotel is very well located. However, the air vents in the bathroom could not be turned off and were quite loud. We had also problems with our room card keys demagnetizing on both nights of our stay and the staff acted very put out that we bothered them with such trivialities! All in all a decent stay - would have been perfect if the staff were friendly.

After considering hotel facilities such as lift, tv, fridge, and etc., I made a booking for my parents. The location was nice, close by tube. However, we got a small room without window at the basement. There's no lift access to that floor. TV and fridge were also out of order. As my dad's medicine must be kept refrigerated, the fridge was important. Firstly, the hotel staff suggested us to put it in the kitchen fridge. It's very inconvenience as my dad had to take it at certain hrs. So, I couldn't accept that. Finally, they replaced a new one for us. For the tv, they came to fix it another day. Is it what you expect from a 4-star hotel?? I don't think so.

I left an expensive 35mm camera in my hotel room - when I phoned concerned for it's well being - a member of staff said we can't store it we will have to sell it!! I explained that I had arrived back in the West Midlands and wouldn't be able to collect it for a few days - they begrudgingly said they would keep it til then?! I had stayed in one of the best rooms. They treat you another tourist they won't see again so why should they bother?

Checked in and then got taken around the corner into a basement. I wouldn't have minded, the room was neat and clean except that the AC had to be left off as it rattled so lout it probably kept other rooms awake as well. The fan in the bathrom was the same and fell out of the ceiling at one point.
