Where It Is

Arguably the finest and most famous hotel in London, The Savoy is found on the Strand near the banks of the Thames. The quality of the hotel is so high and the amenities so numerous that it is possible you may not wish to venture out at all, but just in case you walk to Trafalgar Square, down The Mall and over to Buckingham Palace, stroll around St James's Park, or enjoy the river views along the Victoria Embankment on your way into Westminster.

What To Expect

The 268 rooms are split across a variety of stunning double rooms and suites, all fabulously spacious and packed with the very best facilities, including king-size bed, stunning en suite bathroom, flat screen television, iPod docking station and marvellous views across London. It is the bars and restaurants that really give The Savoy its lofty reputation though, and they are all here. The River Restaurant serves elegant French cuisine as you overlook the Thames, the glamorous Beaufort Bar lays on champagne, cocktails and cabaret, Savoy Tea is a quaint little tea room where guests can sample a range of teas and patisserie, while the American Bar is one of the most iconic cocktail bars around, and was the starting point for the Savoy Cocktail book which remains an essential text for the serious bartender even 80 years after it was written.

However, the Savoy Grill is the most famous of all the eateries here, and is now operating under Gordon Ramsay's company. The new menu incorporates all the old classics from times gone by, including king crab and prawn cocktail and iced peach melba. A former haunt of famous faces such as Oscar Wilde, Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra and the Queen Mother, the whole place is a real treat from start to finish, and do not forget to enjoy the hotel's quintessential English afternoon tea.
