Saint Georges Hotel out of 5 Customer Rating

We only stayed one night. The service at breakfast was very poor..we had to ask for tea, ask seperately for toast and I didn't get what I ordered on my full English breakfast. Infant we were all but ignored and had to get up and find someone for another cup of tea.
The toast was cold, the tea tasted of tea AND coffee Being poured out of mixed use jugs and was not very hot.
It was similar to our last visit.
The service in the rest of the hotel was good however, and the location is good, rooms are reasonable and clean.

Wasted View

A bit disappointed to find that after being handed a key to a 12th floor room that the corner room that I had with windows on both side of the room provided a non existent view. The glowing BT tower is viewed through a particulary fragile plastic sliding window behind which grubby net curtains hang. Beyond those some very old metal window frames did little or nothing to prevent the draft, hence the region for the sliding plastic one I would imagine. Despite trying to move the curtain in both directions it was impossible to see out.

Standard of room and service.

The room had only a shower and no bath, which we were disappointed about. The heated towel rail didn't work.
The room wasn't big enough to accommodate the large leather sofa it was supposed to have had.
Curtains/widows filthy.
On our penultimate day, our room wasn't serviced at all. We complained and maid said she had cleaned room, therefore calling us liars.
Because of faulty towel rail, had to use wet towels again.

Nice but a bit "faded"

Good friendly reception and offered free upgrade to jnr suite and free glass of wine in the penthouse bar. Hotel was a bit faded but clean and comfortable. and with the upgrade a nice large room with super view of N London. Hotel is in a nice quiet spot at the top of Regent St opposite broadcasting house, but really at the heart of the west end and being on 10th floor meant room was also quiet too. Made me wish i had been there when U2 played on the roof !! Would have had best seat in the house. Bed was Std 4'6" so a bit smaller than one would expect at this price, but comfortable none the less. A first for me was a cafetier in the room, with real coffee ! Perfect ! Would without doubt stay again.

A Jaded hotel saved only by it's wonderul staff.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two days while visiting London for a West End show.
On arrival, the hotel looked rather worn out with flaky paintwork, several homeless people sleeping on the concourse outside and generally an appearance of having seen better days.
The reception staff from the start were simply brilliant however. Nothing seemed like too much effort.
We arrived at 08:30hrs. 5 and a half hours prior to check in. The chap on reception found us an available room which we could check into immediately rather than waiting around. This was excellent service. He told us that as a bonus, the room was also an upgrade to one of better quality than the room which we booked from the website (which was already a lovely looking room on the website).
On entering the room, we both agreed that it was "ok". It certainly was very jaded and worn out though. Paint flaking from one wall, cracks in the ceiling and exposed electrical wiring in the bathroom as well as shabby, flaky and worn out seals around every window. If this was an upgrade, I'd have hated to see the room we had already booked.
On the upside, the room staff were attentive and reception (again) were quick to respond when we needed them to.
The bed was very comfortable and there was a good amount of complimentary tea bags, coffee, milk and water available in the room.
The bathroom had a very odd, stale smell and again, the exposed wiring in our room was a worry.
The room overall was ok and very average. It was however comfortable with an excellent sized TV which was wall mounted.
Would I recommend the hotel to you?... No. I'd suggest spending an extra couple of pounds for something a little classier.
Would I recommend the quality of customer service. Yes. 100% on the ball. Great staff.
Our room was 1219. As we were told that this was an upgrade, I am guessing that generally, the other rooms are in the same or worse worn out condition than ours.
One saving grace I suppose is that the hotel is nestled at the very top of Regent road and provides easy access to Regents Park, Soho, Piccadilly circus, the west end theatres, Camnden town and many other places... even the London eye and parliament were only a 30 minute walk.
Shabby hotel. Great staff. Great Location.

Two day city break

This was our first proper trip away without the kids (21 and 18 they can look after themselves, it's time we had some 'us time') and we picked the Saint Georges hotel as it had some very good reviews, and we could see why. Superb location, hundred yards from Oxford circus on Regents street, only twenty minutes steady walk to the heart of the West end, the heights bar and restaurant has stunning views of the city and the food and service were excellent and the room was neat, tidy and very clean.
Would definitely stay again. A+

Excellent Stay

Staff very helpful especially receptionist who went out of his way to oblige and barman who was friendly and made you feel very welcome. Breakfast and dinner in 15th floor restaurant good and made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful views over London.
Hotel in great location, lots of restaurants nearby as were the many shops in Regent Street and Oxford Street.
Room was good with lots of facilities, fixing up small defects like loose flush in loo and broken ironing board cover would give it an excellent rating.

My recent stay at the St Georges Hotel

I have stayed here before as it is an excellent location. The first room we were given had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke so we asked to be moved to an alternative, which the staff very kindly did. This room was fine, but the covers on one of the beds were not as clean as I would have liked, there was a slight blood stain. I have stayed here before and I know it is normally fine, so I would not let this put me off, but if it happens again I would rethink.

Not a 4 star hotel

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. We upgraded to a 'superior' room. When we got to the room I thought they had perhaps overlooked it. They said not but did offer me an alternative on the next floor. I checked it out before deciding to stick the original room as the other room stunk of stale cigarettes.
The whole hotel needs a revamp not just the lifts. Everything looks old tired and dirty. The bathroom looked like our grandchildren had put the mastic around the bath.
We went to see a fantastic show - Priscilla Queen of the Desert and when it was finished we decided to walk back to the hotel and have a drink in the hotel bar. We were allowed one while the waitress looked at her watch as the staff were wanting to cash up for the night, then told us we could have another if we were paying by card only. Needless to say we didn't bother. This was 11pm on a Saturday night in London. All a bit disappointing.
The views over London are fantastic but that's about all I can say is good really. It was a special weekend so we left feeling somewhat disappointed.

Could not be better positioned for shopping but think it should be classed as 3 star,

On arriving at the front of the hotel it was like a building site outside, and when we arrived in room 2 out of the 4 light bulbs in the room did not work which i reported straight away and again 5 hours later , it did take until the next day to be put right , but all said and done the beds were really comfortable and clean and were just 2 mins from oxford street with restaurants and pubs between the hotel and the shops, its was also very quite in the room we were in , so i would definately recommend it but only as a 3 star

The room and the bathroom large, not pokey like some, great views over London
The air con worked and was good. Ironing Borad and iron plus a decent hairdryer (not one of those fixed useless ones you often get) were all supllied.

Great place to stay.

Me and my partner stayed here for my birthday, the room was clean and spacious, the staff were courteous and helpful and the view from the bar is brilliant. If you're a late goer, I'd make it aware that the doors are locked at midnight and the lifts are shut off, although contacting reception should deal with this. I'll stay again as the location is fantastic.

Staff were substantially good but let down by a very tired hotel. There are better for less. Real shame as it took the edge of our break which was our first for a long time. Shower didnt work on second morning either.

From initial booking in with wonderfully friendly and helpful reception staff to prompt and friendly room service this hotel was the tops. As an example we had run out of milk when brewing our afternoon cup of tea - we phoned down to reception to see if we could get some more at some point and before our kettle had even boiled we had a knock at the door and there was a friendly young man with enough milk for 10 cups of tea at least.
