My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two days while visiting London for a West End show.
On arrival, the hotel looked rather worn out with flaky paintwork, several homeless people sleeping on the concourse outside and generally an appearance of having seen better days.
The reception staff from the start were simply brilliant however. Nothing seemed like too much effort.
We arrived at 08:30hrs. 5 and a half hours prior to check in. The chap on reception found us an available room which we could check into immediately rather than waiting around. This was excellent service. He told us that as a bonus, the room was also an upgrade to one of better quality than the room which we booked from the website (which was already a lovely looking room on the website).
On entering the room, we both agreed that it was "ok". It certainly was very jaded and worn out though. Paint flaking from one wall, cracks in the ceiling and exposed electrical wiring in the bathroom as well as shabby, flaky and worn out seals around every window. If this was an upgrade, I'd have hated to see the room we had already booked.
On the upside, the room staff were attentive and reception (again) were quick to respond when we needed them to.
The bed was very comfortable and there was a good amount of complimentary tea bags, coffee, milk and water available in the room.
The bathroom had a very odd, stale smell and again, the exposed wiring in our room was a worry.
The room overall was ok and very average. It was however comfortable with an excellent sized TV which was wall mounted.
Would I recommend the hotel to you?... No. I'd suggest spending an extra couple of pounds for something a little classier.
Would I recommend the quality of customer service. Yes. 100% on the ball. Great staff.
Our room was 1219. As we were told that this was an upgrade, I am guessing that generally, the other rooms are in the same or worse worn out condition than ours.
One saving grace I suppose is that the hotel is nestled at the very top of Regent road and provides easy access to Regents Park, Soho, Piccadilly circus, the west end theatres, Camnden town and many other places... even the London eye and parliament were only a 30 minute walk.
Shabby hotel. Great staff. Great Location.
