Top notch customer service. Very friendly, approachable and helpful staff. You can understand why Red Carnation is one of the Sunday Times top 100 companies to work for!
Summary
The staff at this hotel are without question what makes it a good hotel to stay in. The room we had, a superior king was fine although on the small side for what you might expect of the title. The bathroom was luxurious but the rest of the room is looking a little tired. Overall good value but a bit expensive just for the room alone with no breakfast included.
Summary
For a hotel a short stroll from Buckingham Palace, St James's Park and a host of other attractions, the Rubens is great. From the moment the commissionaire opens the door for you to the time you are relaxing in the lounge with a Martini listening to the soothing piano, the hotel is pampering and relaxing. The room (executive double on 4th floor) is lovely, contemporary and well presented with a double bed to sleep four. The only problem is that the room is barely larger than the bed (which is admittedly probably 8 feet square) so you're wonderfully comfortable when in bed but can't really do much else (like walk round the bed) when not. Overall, would recommend for the location and everything about the hotel - except the size of the room...

Our stay will be most memorable & was sadly much too short. Staff were most helpful & exceptionally friendly. Room was a delight & most accommodating. We look very forward to returning again in the near future.

Summary
Very convenient location and our room was quiet but very small, not like the photos on website - only bedside table width either side of bed. No space in the room for easy chairs to sit on, so had to sit on bed. If someone was sitting on the desk chair, the other couldn't get past. The room had everything needed - but limited space to put anything. The toilet seat was scuffed but thick, fluffy towels. We were paying over £250 a night (apparently 'real' price was over £800!)! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was brilliant - all you could eat!
Summary
Very comfortable 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel just a stroll away from Buckingham Palace. The staff were very attentive and friendly, nothing seemed too much trouble. We had a super meal in the Library Restaurant and were entertained by a pianist in the Palace Lounge.Very good reviews attracted me to The Rubens and they were well justified. We will stay here again. I have already encouraged some friends to stay here and they have booked in for a short stay in a couple of weeks time.
Summary
Initially a poor start as we had requested not to be placed in the Red room, but found that we were on arrival. However the hotel staff were very helpful and although this issue arose because of a breakdown between LateRooms and the hotel, their staff wuickly arranged an alternative room.
The hotel manager was also very apologetic and helpful wehn we discovered a parking ticket on our vehicle the following morning, as he had advised us on where to park. He immediately took responsibility for paying the ticket, which we appreciated.
Overall an very enjoyable stay with excellent staff.
An excellent two nights at the Rubens. My girlfriend and myself were made very welcome, the staff couldn't do enough for us and were very helpful.
The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable.
The reception staff were very helpful.
The staff were excellent as you would expect in a 4 Star hotel.
The location was perfect for us and was the main reason we selected this hotel.
Although the room was large it was cramped for space owing to the excessive amount of furniture in the room. The room was dominated by a huge settee/convertable bed. As we wanted a double room this rather spoilt the look and comfort of the room and gave it the feel of a budget hotel but for triple the price.
The padded walls (not joking) of the room were interesting to say the least. This was obviously a design feature that was rather lost on us! Thankfully there were bathrobes provided rather than straight jackets or I would have been worried.
The bed was comfortable and the room had everything you could need. Generally a positive stay.
Very clean, comfy bed, nice little extras. Great sound proof for London too. Nice quiet corridors. Room wasn't huge but probably decent size for a London hotel! Great location.
Summary
Prior to spending the day on the Orient Express (leaving from Victoria Station), we spent the night in the Rubens. Fantastic room, very well trained and attentive staff made the whole experience very special indeed.
Summary
I took my other half down for a Saturday night out and a show for her Birthday.
I use this hotel when I work in London as its very close to my company's building.
The customer service is excellent and the rooms, although some times small are very clean and comfortable. The room we had this stay was a lot newer in decor than previous but they have managed to keep the charm of the older rooms.
The food is a little pricey, but very nice (we chose to eat at Brown's round the corner) drinks again are London prices but you get a free drink voucher when you check in, which is a nice touch.
The location is perfect for many of the cities sites and Victroia station is less than 5 minutes walk round the corner.
Staff at this hotel were very pleasent and accommodating. The room was of good size and very clean.
Summary
Excellent hotel, staff fantastic, easy walk to tube or buckingham palace and westminster, didn't have the time to sample the food but looked fantastic, would highly recommend!
Summary
I travel to London for business every week or so, generally staying at special offer hotels from laterooms. The Rubens was excellent, and on arrival I was upgraded to a better room, which had complimentary wifi (as offered throughout the hotel I think) The gym I went to was LA fitness which was complimentary and a great place to work out. In addition, the reception staff dealt with my every query. Assuming I can get the same rate again in the future, I will not consider any other hotel in London
Summary
High quality Hotel, enjoyed our stay
Summary
Outstanding value, made feel very special, food was to die for, I would recommend the Rubens hotel
Summary
Yes. I can highly recommend staying at this hotel, excellent service and accomodation fit for a King! Eating in the Restaurant was relaxing and the food was prepared with skill and passion. I am already planning the next visit. Staying at Rubens was a breath of fresh air and puts the joy back into staying away.
Summary
My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay in this amazing hotel! Everything and everyone involved with this hotel was superb!! The staff, food and location of the hotel was amazing, definetely should be a 5 star hotel! We looked at numerous hotels before our trip and I can honestly say we couldnt have choosen better. Steps away from Buckingham Palace, tour bus stop across the road, train station and bus to Airports less than 5 minutes walk away, it was ideal for sightseeing and shopping! The food in the hotel was 1st class as were each staff member we had contact with. I would definetely recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to London! A stay to remember, we will definetely be back!!!! Excellent value for money as well!!! Recommend a snack in the bar in the evening!!
Summary
Excellent location for tourist's
The place and service were lovely the only negative is that they got both of our food orders wrong
We stay regularly in the Rubens as we like its style, the quality of service and its closeness to the West End for shopping. It is a good hotel for couples who can afford to pay for extra quality and want a hotel with character.
Summary
Excellent hotel in prime position. Our room was overlooking the side of the Palace on a really busy road yet we did not hear the traffic due to fantastic secondary windows. Staff were so friendly and the breakfast and evening carvery were exceptional for a city hotel. Bar staff were a little slow and it was difficult to pay the bar bill but we were not in a rush. The lounges were lovely and so relaxing and the pianist provided background music too. Superb!
