The room was much smaller than I had anticipated. I asked to be moved to another room but they were unable to accommodate me. The bed was not very comfortable and sloped to one side, the side that everyone probably sits on because the room is so small and it is almost impossible to sit in the other chairs.

Booked this hotel for the location as we were attending a show at the Victoria Theatre. We weren't disappointed as it was only a five minute walk from the theatre - and very central for lots of other tourists attractions. We couldn't fault the staff they were fantastic! The room itself wasn't quite as grand as we had expected (from the photos we had seen of the room online) and was a bit cramped for space (there seemed a lot of furniture in a small space) but it was fine for what we required. We wouldn't have paid anymore than the reduced late room fee. The view from the room was of the Royal Mews which was a bonus. We would stay at the hotel again mainly for the location and the friendly staff.

We took my parents for a theatre break to London at stayed two nights at Rubens at the Palace. The service from all staff we encountered was fantastic, everyone was very friendly - something I often find is not the case in other hotels. The rooms were immaculate and very clean, if on the small side. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Whilst the bar was very nice you may need a bank loan to pay for the drinks - I know you can expect to pay London prices but even against that the bill seemed high. Location was great, both within easy walking distance of the nearest tube and for those with who enjoy walking it's within easy distance of most major tourist attractions.

The hotel staff were attentive, respective and friendly. The quality and range of produce at breakfast and lunch was very good. The cleanliness of all parts of the hotel was excellent. The room had an excellent view overlooking Buckingham Palace Mews. Sash windows supported by internal double glazing gave the double benefit of no noise but access to fresh air when desired.
I would certainly recommend a stay at the Rubens.

Good location for Victoria and Buckingham Palace and so would be good for tourists, although I was using the hotel for business. Good hotel, very nice room and general facilities were good but the customer service wasn't too hot - I had to ask more than once for things and that is annoying. The communication between staff wasn't as good as it might be. I did complain and received a very comprehensive reply from the manager so they do take notice of visitors concerns but it seems that the staff training with regard to customer relations could be improved.

We were greeted by a lovely young lady at reception, who was keen on finding out about us and our stay which was lovely and friendly. Concierge were always very willing to help as we had not been to London before and were unsure of transport available. Very good location to the train and underground rail. Thank you for everything.

Excellent staff - particularly friendly, helpful and efficient at both front desk and restaurant. Hotel location perfect for central London being close to major attractions. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.
Hotel and restaurant decor to a high standard and very clean. If I had to find someting to criticise the standard rooms are not particularly spacious and the decor is perhaps a bit of an aquired taste. However, these are minor points and I would definitely recommend this hotel for a city break.
Very good location and good facilities and public rooms. I found that the customer service when I stayed was not very good as I had made some specific requests for this visit when I stayed the previous week but these had been completely ignored and I had to speak to a manager to get some action. Better attention to detail is needed in this respect although I did subsequently have a letter of apology which was a nice touch. Otherwise a good hotel to stay in.

Carvery food good and breakfast buffet very good, although quite expensive, but really what you would expect for London. The hotel was really nice and the rooms individual. biggest gripe was the food and drinks were heavily overpriced and was annoyed that a service charge was also added to our bill for drinks! so for example a G&T and a Baileys was over 16.65 !! I know its London but they seem to just be taking advantage of residents who have no alternative to pay. This would possibly stop me from returning again.

Very attentive staff and furnished to a very high standard with good public rooms. I had two grouses about this hotel. The size of the room (I had a long thin executive double costing 150GBP on a Sunday night. Iit was not big enough to get a cat in let alone swing it) and my desk was not really big enough to work on in comfort for any length of time. The other grouse was the rate I was quoted for wireless access - only availiable in the public rooms - I was told it was a staggering 50GBP for 24 hours.

The "classic single" room was too small for the cost, and compared to other "normal" rooms in the hotel, though all the appointments, accessories, bathroom etc. were excellent. Service was good, and the common rooms, bars and restaurants were very nice in an "old English" style. Recommend the 5 o'clock tea in the comfortable armchairs by the fire - good place to meet and have small group discussions (2-4 people). I did not get a chance to try the restaurants, which looked good but were also quite expensive.

Would certainly recommend the 2 or 3 course carvery in the Old Masters Restaurant (5.30 - 7.30 daily) at £15.50/£19.50 it is exceptional value - food is wonderful and service first class (Non residents can have this pre-theatre offer also) To have this sort of luxury at such a small price is amazing - my tip is to take your coffee in the lounge and just enjoy the pianist and atmosphere !! House wine was £17 a bottle and very very good. Certainly beats any other London restaurant on all counts.

I have posted rave reviews on this gem of a hotel on numerous web travel sites, as well as here on Trip Advisor. Just reading the comments above brought such pleasant and delightful memories that I am prompted to write again. We were back at The Rubens only a few months ago, in July. As the others attest, Nathan was great and a real charmer. The breakfasts are sumptuous and we always look forward to them. We had our same room this year, thanks to Estelle, who also was so helpful and always ready to assist. I can't say enough good things about this hotel, which is our home away from home while in London. Most probably we will return to London in April and look forward to staying at that wonderful grand dame of a hotel, The Rubens at the Palace.
We recommend this hotel to all of our friends going to London - it is truely a superb, well-managed, and beautiful facility.

Room was a bit on the small side, but of high quality and cleanliness, with complimentary tea, coffee, and sweets!
