Very good value

This hotel has obvioulsy just been renovated so the room looked brand new. I could smell fresh paint in the hallway. Nicely done. The room was on the Queensway side so for some people it may be too noisy. The bed was very comfy and the shower was great, although the bathroom was a bit small.

Very basic breakfast and it would have been great to have a microwave to heat up the croissants.
The night staff was great and helpful. The girl in the morning did not seem to understand what a bath mat was, she was very nice.
Great central position for a great price.

OK Hotel, a little noisy

Small fairly cramped hotel on Queensway, was undergoing refurbishment when I stayed. Management clearly making an effort. Room was small but clean, freshly redecorated and perfectly acceptable for my needs (I was staying on business) Free wi-fi was fast and worked well. Only major problem was the noise from the bustling Queensway which is full of bars and restaurants. My room was at the front in the noisiest part of the hotel.

Decent, cheap accommodation

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was small but modern, and the shower was good. TV with DVD player worked well - £10 deposit for the remote. The location was good - very close to two tube stations, and some decent noodle bars just a few metres away from the front door. My room was overlooking the street and was therefore noisy - double glazing would have been a significant improvement. Overall, a good, cheap place to stay in central London.

Clean Basic Over Night Stay Accomodation

As an overnight stay for the west end which was our purpose this place is great. There is a car park down the road £24 for overnight 24 hour parking just the job. Central line tube at the end of the road another plus point. Now the hotel, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Considering this place had had a refurbish, i think they forgot the hall stairs and landing which gives an initial impression of 'oh dear what have we let ourselves in for!'. The room can only be described as basic but for an overnight stay perfectly adequate, don't take the cat though because your not going to get to swing it round :-). The room we had was fresh and very clean which was a good positive. The en-suite was functional and nicely tiled but so tiny a larger person might find it difficult.
The floors have wooden laminate and rather than curtains they have opted for a roller blind, which whilst easy to maintain the nice level of cleanliness, gives the room that empty sound so you end up whispering to each other, so wouldn't recommend for a noisy romantic liaison. The biggest downside was the late night noise from the street outside, which is not something the hotel can control and it is above a restaurant so don't go with an early night in mind. The only other point is, breakfast was pitiful at best, unless cold toast is your thing, but there is a cafe towards the tube doing a full breakfast for about a fiver.
In summary: Clean cheap basic accommodation for a night or two

Nowhere near as bad as others have made out!

The hotel was in a lovely area, easy to get to from Bayswater station, literally a 30 second walk! Lots of restaurants nearby and a small tesco express. The area is obviously a place where lots of young travellers stay though so maybe not ideal for elderly people or families, as the hotel had no lift from what I saw but lots of stairs. The staff were all lovely. The room was very small but for the price it was to be expected. Bathroom lovely and clean, although the water could have been a little warmer! Our heating in the room had broken but someone was called out to fix this within 45 minutes. Other then that we had no other issues. Breakfast wasn't amazing but again for the price you can't really complain!

Clean, but shower cold both nights, and very noisy road

Overall I probably got what I paid for, as it was not expensive. I paid approx 30 quid and 40 quid for the first and second night respectively. The room was clean. The breakfast was basic but acceptable for the cheap price of the room. The road was very noisy. I was woken up at 6-7am both mornings by loud delivery trucks. The shower was stone cold on both mornings that I stayed there. I did point this out before the second night, but was told that "it had been fixed". I pointed it out again as I left, they said that they would get the plumber to look at it, but didn't not offer any compensation. The room heating was otherwise adequate, and the free internet was reasonably fast in the lobby.

Stayed for one night for £29. Room was clean. I wouldn't want to book this as my holiday accommodation, but solely as a place to crash it's fine. Don't expect much from the staff or comunal areas.
Shower wasn't exactly hot, but warm enough to get clean after a night on the town!

Not so good - had better experience in the past

This is a rip-off. For the price (GBP99 per night) one would expect a room larger than 9 square meters. With a double bed and bath room, there is little space for anything else - way too expensive - not value for money. The bathroom was beautifully refurbished. The breakfast was basic, but well presented and enjoyable.

Budget accommodation with very small rooms but it was clean and in an excellent location.

The fire alarms went off at 8.30 am waking many people up. We evacuated the building straight away but had to push past other guests blocking the stairs standing by the alarm panel. There were no staff evident and most people seemed to stay in the building. It was a false alarm but was a shambles.

Great location and value for money, but could be cleaner, with soap, cups etc in the bathroom.

At £29 I couldn't ask for more value for money at this hotel, and located at Bayswater tube it was ideally located to get around central London too.
The room could have been cleaner, I saw a few dust balls around and it just felt as though it could have done with a mop being put around. Some of the carpets in the common areas were peeling up, and this added to the slightly shabby feel. I'm not sure if there was wifi or not, but if there was there wasn't any notification in the room. The staff were friendly enough.

Room was very small, but essentials were clean. Toilet seat hinge was broken, neither spotlight over the bed worked, ((I had to ask for a bulb and fit it myself). Plug in baisin leaked. No bath mat - easy to slip. Cups not washed out after first day. Paint cracked and peeling on wall. Very sharp corner on television shelf just at head height. Sharp protrusion on bed frame at knee height.Stains on window blind and dressing table seat. Breakfast adequate - croissants very heavy & solid. No lift. I don't have much experience London hotels but would expect better for £89 a night.

The worst place i have ever stayed at!!!!!

This hotel was absolutely the worst place i have ever stayed at in london. We first arrived and were met by the most ignorant rude staff i have ever come across. We arrived fifteen minutes before check in and were given our keys for the flourth floor to which there was no elevator. When we tried to go to the room the cleaners pushed us out saying its not ready and its our own problem and had to leave. They wouldnt let us use the luggage room they had to leave our suitcases either so had to wait two hours longer. The room itself was just as bad. It was dirty, shelfs had been torn of the wall with the screws sticking out of the wood and left lying on the floor. The bunk bed ladder had been duck tapped up as it wasnt screwed in. There was no toilet roll one half wardrobe between three people and a bed with no bed sheets. The staff yet again did nothing to fix any of this. We didnt get any clean towels, the hairdryer was broken and the continental buffet consisted of cheap cereal, warm milk, toast and croissants. I will never be back again. Room was tiny. The bathroom had a large step into it and was so small you could go to the toilet and wash your hands at the same time. Awful you had to open the shower door just to get some room.!!!! I will definitely never be there again!!!

Not the best!

The hotel is in good lcoation, close to Bayswater and Queensway tube stations and plenty of restaurants and life around it. however, this is about the only redeeming quality! Although the hotel is meant to be non-smoking, the room reeked of cigarettes and stranegly the smell gor worse through the night, especially in the bathroom - this tells me that guests or staff are clearly smoking on the premises.
The TV remote didn't work and when I reported this to reception, I was told, the receptionist having rooted around in a shoe box looking for another one, that it didn't really matter as it was already 7pm and i was only staying for 1 night. Ordinarily i wouldn't be as bothered but the TV was mounted high up on the wall, so to change channels or switch it on/off I had to stand on the foot of the bed with one foot on the rickety table next to it - not great health and safety! The walls & ceilings were lined with dirty marks too and the laminate on the floor was peeling off.
The bathroom was tiny, even for London standards, the toilet seat was loose and ready to come off at any moment. The shower and sink areas really needed a good clean but the worse thing was that the water didnt drain away in the very shallow cubicle, which meant i couldn't have a proper shower without flooding the place. Altogether a very unpleasant evening spent in a dirty, unfriendly place - I would advise people to never stay there - don't be fooled by the cheap price - I have stayed in far nicer places for less than £59 in London!!!!!!

An upgraded hostel

I'm not used to staying in budget hotels so when I arrived at the hotel I noticed how scruffy and run down the decor and furniture was. There was a 24 hour reception manned by ladies who had acceptable english but their customer service skills were not very developed! Having said that, they did respond to my requests quickly, e.g needing more toilet role (as none had been put in the room) and having a look at my shower (which for some reason went from v cold to v hot).
The guests in the other rooms were chatting loudly til 1am but there were no drunken groups making trouble so overall it was peaceful stay with a sufficient continental breakfast thrown in. For the money I guess it was good and knowing how expensive London is, it's best I could of got so if your short on cash, by all means go ahead.

Adequate but noisy

I booked this hotel for my teenage daughters & I so that we could spend a couple of days in London over the Easter holidays. It appeared good value for the area, but we found the accommodation to be very basic and noisy and we felt vulnerable walking along the road from the closest tube station - we certainly wouldn't do so after dark! We had one of the 3 bed rooms located next to the stairs and we were all woken up by other guests walking up & down the stairs late at night and again early the next morning - it sounded like a herd of elephants!! I must say that the room was clean even though the decoration was extremely tired & grubby looking, and the water was lovely and hot. Don't bother with the breakfast though - it's really not worth the trouble unless you enjoy cold toast, cornflakes and dodgy looking apples. We would not stay there again
