What you need to know

Where It Is

Constructed in 1894 in the style of a French Chateau, the spectacular five-star Royal Horseguards has graced the banks of the Thames for over 100 years. Taking its name from the parade ground that occupies one end of neighbouring St James's Park, the hotel is opposite the London Eye and just down the road from Whitehall and Westminster. A walk to Trafalgar Square and down the Mall, or a stroll through the park will take you to Buckingham Palace.

Getting Around

The Royal Horseguards is surrounded by convenient tube stations, with Charing Cross and Embankment both on the Northern and Bakerloo Lines, and Westminster a little further away on the Circle, District and Jubilee Lines, allowing easy access to many of London's most well-known landmarks. Charing Cross and Waterloo train stations are also both within walking distance.

Buses are a good way of getting around, with the number 3 heading past Piccadilly Circus on its way to the shops of Oxford Street. Number 88 continues towards Euston and Camden Town, number 11 heads into the City and number 24 calls at busy Victoria station.

What To Expect - Rooms

The hotel offers a choice of 280 air-conditioned luxurious guestrooms, many with magnificent views over The Thames. The rooms have been designed to represent the prestigious heritage of the property, whilst they have of course been upgraded with modern and contemporary facilities and features.

Each room has a 32-inch plasma satellite television, free Wi-Fi, iPod docking station with surround sound, electronically coded safe with power supply to charge laptop, mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities.

What To Expect - Dining

One Twenty One Two Restaurant is the place to go for a spectacular evening meal, and is a 2 AA-rosette award winner. Equus Bar is ideal for cocktails and pre-theatre drinks, while The Lounge is more suited to an elegant afternoon tea. If the weather is fine, the lovely outdoor terrace is a picturesque spot for a drink.
