Great location...

The single room is tiny. Mine was "between floors", it looked like an old storage room converted into a "room". There was no way to lock the door to keep out the staff. Te key was the size of a small paperback book, very inconvenient. The shower was small. I'm a big guy, 5'11", 280lbs, but still it was small. The bed was comfortable enough, plenty of electrical outlets to charge devices. Free wifi that was a decent speed though you get kicked out after a short perdiod of inactivity; no wifi security so be forewarned. All that being said, the location is great! A 5 minute walk to the tube and some great restaurants. The hotel seemed quiet while I was there though I could hear cellphone ringing in the room above. If this wasn't basically in Central London I'd rate it much worse but it's hard to be the location for the pice.

No frills reasonably priced hotel with friendly staff.

Had booked a twin room for the two of us, were given one with 4 single beds, so the room was bigger than we thought it would be. Reception is manned all the time as far as I know. Room was clean although decor was a little old fashion especially the bedding but it was a 3 star so fits in well in that ranger. Have no complaints. Would stay again as its right in the centre of London and its easy to find black cabs right outside.

Great for the price

The room was warm and clean but a bit shabby. But for the price it was excellent value. I'd be happy to stay there again.

Not a pleasant experience!

My room was minute, too hot and couldn't open the window because of the noise outside. Was woken in the early hours by people running up and down the stairs, shouting and screaming.

Pleasantly surprised

Wasn't expecting much from a 2* hotel but was pleasantly surprised with our room. It was an old building with tall ceiling and windows with decorative walls which gave it some luxury. The carpet and covers were a bit dated and the paint was peeling but I suppose it looked vintage.. The bathroom was modern and clean and so were the bed sheets. The traffic was a bit noisy outside but was quiet at night with no disturbances from neighbours. The was an old small lift but didn't really need at as we didn't have much luggage as only staying one night. The hotel is very close to the centre of London and small walk from tube station. There is a small supermarket on the same road but a bit expensive, but there is a tesco a few roads away which is cheaper. Overall, good place to stay after a night out, would stay there again.

Do not stay there!

They take you money off you as soon as you get to the hotel, you wouldn't pay for the rooms otherwise. I was left feeling robbed and spent most my time wishing i had paid a little more for a better hotel.

Less than basic

On arriving it was very strange to find we had to pay the full amount up front. After seeing the first room it was not surprising and designed to make it very difficult to leave. The Hotel was not clean. The first room we were offered had no proper window, it only had a skylight type window. The room smelled of dampness. My wife has asthma and could not stay in a room like that. We were moved to another room at the top which was a bit better,my wife could stand on my tiptoes to look out of the window!! The banisters had spindles missing and the paper on the hallway was dirty. The extractor fan in the bathroom looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. It also has no timer so it went off immediately that the light was turned off. The Staff didn't acknowledge you on the way in the door and couldn't help when we asked them about Congestion Charges. The lounge area was dirty and had people's cases lying on the floor. I think this place has major safety issues that need to be addressed. I'm not even sure it would pass the fire regulations. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

Hotel was dirty and tired. The breakfast facilities lacking and I was far from convinced anything was clean. Staff were vague, at best, unapproachable and constantly seemed more interested about talking to friends on the phone or browsing the internet.
Room quality was poor. The bathrooms were barely clean. My room smelt of stale cigarette smoke, whilst the corridors smelt of warm cheese!
The worst hotel I've ever stayed in!

Location wise is ideal, close to Marble Arch where transport services and shopping is easily accessible. No air condition in room only provided with fan, not sure whether it is sufficient in summer. Appreciate if breakfast to include egg (half boiled, scramble etc.)

Really nice staff in a really nice location

Very basic accomodation - but I cannot fault it. It perhaps needs updating - but it was of reasonable price for our Capital and a happy place to be. People smile at this hotel and deal with your needs immediately. So first class service all round. That to us is more important than a decorated wall or matching rug. Plenty of tea and coffee in your room. It feels homely and luxurious in ways that are not superficial. From the cracking comfy bed and a great tv to the hair dryer and electric heater you can actually operate than in some hotels. And love the fan on the ceiling. Thank you all. would definitely stay again!!! Really close location to shops and Marble Arch and surrounded by some fab restaurants xxxx Left suitcases on day of departure in lounge and staff were more than happy to oblige. Marvellous!!!!

Well placed

(I am writing on behalf of a my friends who do not write English.) THe hotel was clean but rather shabby and not being very sensitive to it's fine building. The beds were comfortable and we slept well although the heating was rather too hot. The continental breakfast was adequate for us but perhaps not for those who expect a good variety or an English breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it's excellent location within a few minutes walk from Marble Arch, Hyde Park and Oxford Street.

Dont stay here.

Walked out within 10 mins. Room was dirty, smelly. furniture was so dated and very badly marked. tv was from the ark, and what picture you could get was not watchable. Shower room was no bigger than a wardrobe. Lift was prehistoric, i would not recommend this place to a dog, let alone a human. was visiting london for cancer treatment and was disgusted with this place.

Central Location

If you want a modern and well decorated hotel then this is not for you. However if you want a clean room and bedding, friendly staff and a central location with value for money then this could be what you are looking for.
The hotel is only 100 yards from Marble Arch and therefore well located for Oxfrod Street shopping. Marble Arch station is a couple of minutes walk away making the West End theatre land a few minutes away by tube. I would happily stay here again if I didn't want or need sofistication. You don't get much for the money in this part of London so this represents good value including breakfast.

Location superb

The level of service varied greatly with some of the staff being totally charming and helpful, most of the Reception staff come into this category, however one of the waitresses in particular could do with some lessons on welcoming people to the dining room and being a little more caring in her attitude. She was a charisma free zone. The breakfast, as a previous visitor has remarked, is a plate of cereals, some dried toast, jam or marmalade. I went only twice for breakfast preferring to walk to a nearby Pret a Manger for a sustaining bowl of creamy porridge and honey and an acceptable cup of coffee, however, I am aware that you get what you pay for. The location was superb, very close to Oxford Street and also to my old stamping ground, New Cavendish Street when I worked in London and does, therefore, represent value for money.

It was our wedding anniversary on 27th Aug and decided to stay in London. We booked into the hotel and quite frankly was very disappointed when we got there. It all was in very poor condition and needs a complete overall. Our room was very dated and everything was of poor quality.
When we left the next day there was blood all up the stairwell and even a blood soaked tissue just sitting on the stairs. When we complained we were told there had been a bad fight there the previous night. We said we thought the stairwell should have been shut off as there was blood everywhere but was told by the staff that they could not do this.
Overall I would never stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone I know.
