Regency House Hotel out of 5 Customer Rating

Staff were helpful and friendly and the room was clean and quiet. As long as you can manage the stairs (no elevator) and just need a comfortable bed for the night, this is good value. The only reason the 'quality of room' score is lower is that the TV didn't have a signal, but in fairness I didn't ask anyone to fix it as I arrived late and didn't need it. The free WiFi worked perfectly.

Great cheap alternative to big chains in a central location.

Had a lovely stay, a bit smaller than a big chain would be, but comfortable bed, excellant service and a really nice breakfast. We were allowed to leave our bags with management on day of departure and loved the central location. Would definately recommend people to stay here

Shameful

I have been staying in London for 6 weeks on a course for one day a week & looked for a hotel near to where the course was. This hotel looked ideal although on arrival it was nothing like the internet description. As a single female, it was creepy, the door key didnt work & i had to carry my bags up & down the stairs twice! The room was tiny & smelt of stale food & I slept in my clothes as the bed was horrible & appeared dirty. On asking for a receipt the next day i was given a piece of card with the amount scrawled on it which as it was for business was totally unacceptable, unfortunately there was no alternative. I can honestly say i was appalled & would never stay here nor recommend anyone else did!

Disappointing 2 night stay...

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights based on pretty good feedback and some pretty (although clearly misleading) photos of the hotel interior.
The bad points:
The decor: tired and in serious need of redecorating.
The breakfast area has 4 tables only (with occupancy at least 3 times the capacity) - guests should not be expected to have to dine with strangers - this happened to me on both mornings.
The walls between rooms are paper thin and its is possible to hear another guests TV as if you were in a cinema with them until the wee hours - not fantastic preparation for the day ahead.
Receptionist/Owner person attempted to overcharge me by £60.
The positives:
Good location.
Immaculately cleaned during my 2 night stay.
I will not be staying here again for £180.

Full English breakfast in central London for £50 a night, bargain!

Excellent location, within walkin distance from Euston, Euston Square and Goodge Street tube stations, a stone's throw away from British Museum, location doesn't get better! Tasty full English breakfast in the morning, plenty of choices for cheese and fruit, beats the often tasteless continental any day. Friendly staff, well maintained rooms. Will stay again if price doesn't fluctue too much.

Accommodation experience

After arriving i was not given a very good first impression having to desend into the cellar to sign in. i also had to get cash to pay for the room as this was "the preferred method of payment". Not the best start to the stay. The room was very clean and fresh but some of the fittings were not good, lights hanging lose and not working spoilt the otherwise adequate room. The tea coffee was fine and the TV a nice modern LCD with al lthe freview channels.
the wash room was just about big enough for my XXL frame to get in but the shower ( my main bug bear when staying in Hotels) was not up to much, dancing round to get wet is a pain.
i did not have any breakfast as i had to leave before the start time of 7:30hrs. No offer to make me a packup or toast. Overall disappointed with the level of service and standard of accomadation.

Not a bad hotel in the heart of London

I stayed for one night. Booked very late (booked in the morning and checked in in the evening) so most hotels in Bloomsbury already full. I managed to get the last room in the Regency - a double.
It was an exceptionally hot and humid night when I arrived at the hotel and my room had windows that opened out onto the main road (Gower Street) so it was very noisy with them open.
The room was tidy and clean, and pretty much all I needed for a one-night stay. The breakfast was a nice, full english - cooked to order with nice toast and all the trimmings. The service was good too. I would stay again if I needed to.

Great for the money

The hotel is in a great location and for the money it was better than expected. Room was a decent size, although it was up four flights of stairs. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Decor is all a little tired, but what can you expect for what you pay. Breakfast was really very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Only negative was that although we were told check-in was from 11am when we arrived at 12 noon our room was not yet ready. took about another half an hour, we were given a coffee while we waited. would probably stay here again.

Shabby but convenient

We wanted a room for somewhere to sleep after a late night gig. The room was shabby and teh facilities poor but the location was perfect for the gig in Soho. The room was hot and had no air conditioning and you couldn`t keep the window open as the road was incredibly noisy. When we woke in the morning it was to the smell of dirty fat where breakfast was being cooked, the vent must go through the bedrooms. We could not get out of there quick enough and we did not even stop to eat! I recommend finding somewhere else to stay unless the location is right for you because that`s the only thing this hotel has going for it.

Great location, charming hosts!

I chose this small hotel/B & B for its location. Asking for a quiet room on Gower St was in retrospect rather silly of me, but they thoughtfully put me on the top floor away from the worst of the street noise. The grandeur of the place is rather faded but I had everything I needed in my room to provide for a good night's stay. My very charming hosts offered a full English breakfast. My chosen light option of scrambled egg and tomato followed by natural yoghurt was delicious. Coffee was well above average for a London hotel. They looked after my luggage for the day and when I collected it later a charming young man carried my case to the door for me, expressing the hope that he would see me again sometime. This is a B&B with discreet yet attentive service. In future I will be choosing this hotel not only for where it is, but also because the staff's exemplary good manners - almost of a bygone age - were so greatly appreciated!

We were at the back which was nice and quiet so slept really well. Don't know what the rooms at the front would be like for noise though.

Quiet location, good English breakfast

After a long hot day in the city the Regency House Hotel provided an excellent crash pad. I was warned that I had a small room (I am 6'5") but it was more than adequate with plenty of tea and coffee in the room, and with the windows open it cool and quiet enough for a good nights sleep.
Plenty of restaurants within 15 minutes walk and a wholesome English breakfast (with a decent sausage). Would definitely stay again.

My best hotel in London

The central location in Bloomsbury is excellent – just a few minute stroll to Covent Garden / Oxford Street / Soho – no hassle or fuss. I loved the friendly staff - they took special care to make my stay as enjoyable possible. The breakfast was generous & very delicious! Unwinding & relaxing in my comfortable room after my busy day of meetings was the best for a good night’s sleep. I recommend the Regency House Hotel – as I will most certainly stop over here on my next trip.

Great value and location

I stayed one night and didn't have the breakfast. I wish I had had time for breakfast though as it smelled fantastic!
The hotel is located just a stone's throw from Tottenham Ct Rd and Goodge Street tube station which is a great central location.
The price through laterooms was great! £85 for a room in London booked the day before is almost unbelievable.
The hotel is an old building and I was given a room on the very top floor (that's 6 flights of stairs) - but that didn't bother me - in fact it was great to wake up high in the trees on a sunny morning in London.
The room was clean and functional - plenty of towels, good tea making facilities, a bottle of water in the room (a brilliant and unexpected convenience), lots of plug sockets - good for travelling geeks with lots of gadgets to charge overnight.
The bathroom was TINY - not a problem as I am tiny too, but might be a consideration for others.
When you go in, there is no obvious reception, but I was greeted by the friendly lady owner and taken downstairs to checkin.
I would definitely stay here again.

Was ok...

Good location, but that's really the only reason I would stay again. Whole hotel had a funny smell; bathroom was dingy and room was dark and depressing. As a female staying alone, I didn't feel altogether safe, especially when there was no additional lock on the door. Receptionist seemed friendly and let me borrow an iron, even if I did have to go downstairs to use it and it had seem better days. A fresh coat of paint and some new furniture (including locks on the doors) would make it a lot better.
