Summary
The room was small, but clean, it was difficult to get to with luggage as you had to go down 2 steps take a step and up 2 steps, i am sure that's not all rooms.
Summary
The room was only booked on line the day before we arrived and was advertised as saving £602 over our 2 night stay. I am would not value room 45 at £350+ per night but for what we paid£158 it was ok. Both taps in the very nice ensuite ran with very hot water which was a difficult at times! The staff were ALL lovely and pleasant and we enjoyed our trip.
Summary
Now many say its cheap, very true you can get good deals but a room which you are unable to get into the bathroom unless you suck it in and enter side on is a first concerning moment. Now completely understand that work is going to continue to be carried out over the next month or two but if your looking for a couple of nights, then look elsewhere, No TV and wires hanging down all over the place, plus lets not forget that if you ask for a part refund no one is in a position to action any event, a kind of stand off-ish sort of front that goes up if you have a problem "a bit like the cold war". the only positive I could say is that the ladies who run the breakfast rush are very helpful.
Summary
The reem hotel, after booking and reading reviews filled me with dread!!! All I needed was an overnight stop for me mum and sister for tea at the ritz- whilst not the ritz the REEM was a fantastic find, faultless, clean with good service. Yes the room wasn't huge, the end of the bed and wall weren't far apart, however there was room to walk past. The bathroom consisted of a shower, that worked had hot water on demand and projected water properly not a trickle, the towels were thick and soft. There was three of everything. Nothing, nothing whatsoever to complain about. Got there early and was given the code for the bag store, everything was made simple. I don't get other peoples complaints at all whatsoever, I paid a bargain price and got better than I expected. I would happily book in again for another short shopping stay in town.
This is a nice hotel. The two receptionists that I came into contact with (Camilla and Ameris) were very nice indeed. However, as this is London and space is at a premium, the rooms are very very small along the lines on 7 foot by 10 foot. This is what you expect from a no frills hotel but the room could have been bigger. There is only one iron in the hotel so if another guest has it and goes out for the day/night then you are stuck. The breakfast is very very nice, it is continental so whatever you expect from a good breakfast bar (cereal, toast, fruit, yogurt) they have it. I would not stay here again purely because I like space and the premium feel. I would quite happily pay that little bit extra for a better hotel like the Hilton Queensway just 5 minutes up the road for £30 extra per night.
Summary
A somewhat tired hotel, with no bar facility and cramped rooms with a very small shower room/toilet. There were two beds in my room but not much space to move around - the hotel was noisey from very yearly in the am with creeky floorboards in the landing / hallway. Low water pressure in the shower - cereal and toast for breakfast was ok - but no way this hotel was worth £220 for a single night stay - even in London !!!!!.
Summary
For the fairly high price, the room was horrible. I was literally in the basement of the hotel with a curtain-less window that shined into the permanently-lit stairwell, ensuring I got no sleep.
Summary
We had a basement room which was pretty small and the bathroom was tiny - you had to almost sit in the sink to close the door! Bit gloomy but clean and bed comfortable. Would probably stay there again but only for 1-2 nights. There are lots of restaurants nearby and definitely recommend Little Persia - lovely food. All in all it's ok if you're on a budget and only need accommodation for a few nights, otherwise I'd upgrade to another hotel if you can afford it.
Summary
Quite simply the worst value for money hotel I have ever experienced.
Apparently reduced in rate from £360 to £180 I had a box room approx 3m x 4m
And a rubbish breakfast
Single room - Very small , (and too hot even with no heating and open window), but had everything I needed and was clean. Ok for the money. Not glamorous in any sense of the word - but adequate.
I booked through late rooms. com but when arrived, I was not booked in. Fortunately there was a room for me and it was not a problem, although I don't know what would have happend if they had been full.
We were allocated a basement room which was of horrible state - this was despite a previous customer comment about the room on this website, clearly this hotel did not care enough about what their customers think and did not attempt to make steps to improve conditions.
The quality was of poor quality because:
-There was limited / close to none air circulation.
-We did not feel it was safe to open the window as there was a stairway right next to the room that leads up to the street level. There were no security gates, limited light and it was an unpleasant sight with large bags stored under staircase.
-No alternatives eg fan provided to address problem of air circulation
-We asked to exchange for another room that evening but was told it was not possible.
-NOT VALUE FOR MONEY. Nearby budget hotels provide a better, cleaner room with half the price!!
I could not breathe properly being in that room so I have had to leave the hotel. We were then charged 65GBP for the first night.
I then make a complaint to the hotel about the above but the manager said 'they've been running for years and they are not a 5 star hotel'. It was disappointing how the manager did not even care to speak to a customer directly or write a proper response.
If you are still thinking of staying in this hotel, I'd recommend visiting and ask to see the hotel rooms (AVOID BASEMENT ROOM!) before you decide. This was what we regretted not doing.
1. Breakfast and WIFI is not included in the price paid on late rooms which is surprising
2. We called reception for a bottle of coke, he said no, any soft drink, he said no, water , he said no . I said I am thirsty at 11 in the night, what do I do ?? he said drink the tap water // dont look for customer service here
I stayed 4 nights mid week in a single room with en-suite. The room was the size of a box room (room 23). In order to enter, a fire door had to be propped open with a foot whilst opening the main door - there was no space to close it until you stepped through into the room.
The bed was in the only space large enough - hard up against a radiator which was either full on or off as the thermostat was broken - and only accessable by pulling the bed away from the wall. In the end I found that leaving the bathroom door ajar and using the working radiator therein saved me from freezing or getting part cooked legs. In order to open the tiny wardrobe (the hangers were on a bar set front to back as the wardrobe was not deep enough to accomodate the length of a hanger), the chair placed in front of a small desk had to be moved to the only other available space, in front of the door. The en-suite could only be accessed by moving the bedside cabinet away from the door - I'm of medium build so could squeeze through the gap. Anyone with a 36inch or more waistline or the more buxom would probably have to place the cabinet on the bed to get the door open enough to gain entry. The bathroom itself was not too bad, a few cracked floor tiles, with a worn but clean aspect. There was plenty of hot water for the shower ( no bath). The soap and shampoo were cheap and there was no place to put them in the shower cubicle except on the floor. Bed linen and towels were clean and smelled fresh, although there was some old mould stain spotting on an underblanket. One high area of concern - the kettle in the room had a faulty safety cut out - it just kept on boiling unless turned off at the mains - I nearly left the room with it still on, with possibly dire consequences. I made the desk staff aware on the first day. It hadn't been seen to by the time I left.
I asked for a wake up call two days running and was woken an hour earlier than my request on both occasions. I then found out ( by checking myself ) that their automated system hadn't been changed from British Summer Time or had reverted without anyone knowing. The third day I recieved no wake up call at all! The attitude of the staff was a polite non commital.
As I was only using the room to crash for the night and only paid £50 a night it was bearable, however twice I came across other guests at reception demanding better rooms and other guests I talked to all bemoaned the size of their rooms. This should only be rated a 2 star hotel.
The hotel stay was fine but i got room 3a in the basement which is right next door to the cleaners cupboard and back door that they go in and out of all morning fromabout 6.50 so if youve been out the night before god help you. It also smelt of damp as the heating wasnt on and being down there it was colder than outside. The room itself had a decent bed and ensuite, there isnt enough room to swing a cat though.
Summary
The reem would a nice hotel for a short stay but, I thought £105 was expensive, and then I was told this does not include breakfast, bad. You have to run the cold tap for 20 mins to get cold (luke warm) water, reduce the price, fix the plumbing would stay again.
