Upgraded to exec suit - not very big, not value for money. Media package included in upgrade too 12 hours to work, and no hot water on first night! Bed not too good. Customer service was slow. Menu for room service was over priced. However, main restaurant provided amazing food. Not likely to stay there again

I booked this hotel pre early morning flight from Gatwick South. It was extremely good value, clean, comfy bed and very convenient. The staff were very customer focused and our meal in the brasserie was good from a varied menu.

A disappointing stay

Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel because I was attending a course nearby. This hotel looked impressive from the photos but is actually situated on a busy roundabout, however the glazing is very soundproof. The staff were quite helpful but the room was not as clean as it should have been, and a there was a party in the next room until the early hours on one of the nights. The very ordinary food was too expensive so my partner & I chose to eat out each night. The car parking tickets kept invalidating themselves. The plumbing is very loud and the noise woke us up when a person in the neighbouring room used their bathroom.

Very basic accommodation and expensive food.

For my work i stay in many hotels, some cheap and some more expensive. This Ramada is not cheap and the quality of the room was very average. The room had no soaps of any kind, reception said this was wrong but it was never resolved. The extractor van in the room was very dirty and for a relatively new hotel the tile grout was grubby. The windows cannot be opened and the air conditioning was noisy. The bar was the best part of the hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

Reasonable for price

I stayed here as a cheap option as had an early morning start.
Arrived at the hotel and after reading some of the reviews I was not suprised to find parking within the car park to be awkward. There was a lot of people that were not parked in a space appropriately, which ok is not the hotel's fault but they had a number of contractors on site which took up several spaces unecessarily as they hadn't moved far enough forward in a space.
Upon entering the hotel the check in was easy but I had to ask the member of staff checking me in a number of questions as it was not explained what the charge on the card was being made for. Another issue I had was that when I was asked for the surname the booking was made in I said this and then I was asked three more times and continuously, despite me spelling clearly, my surname.
Upon calling the lift when the lift arrived at the reception level the lift was still moving where the door was open which I find this very strange as there is sometimes a little mis-alignment but this was by quite a lot.
We then arrived in our room which was very large and good value for the price paid.
The bathroom was very dated and could do with a lot of modernising, saying this the shower over bath was set at just the right temperature and also came out at a reasonable speed.
The decor in the main room could do with updating also but is not too bad.
I must say the lights that are in the bedroom are very good allowing you to just have two spot lights on which you can dim or brighten as you need.
Another down side to the room was that it was very cold.
Although we are going through some very cold weather at present I would expect the hotel room to be at least warm enough to be comfortable. This was even after adjusting the thermostat on the wall to 25.
Upon check out this was quick and easy no problems at all.
Overall the price of the hotel is good for a quick overnight stay if you want the very basics.

3 Night Stay at the Ramada Plaza Gatwick

Staff very courteous and friendly. Hotel very clean. I found the room a bit dull but that's my personal taste. Some complementary water would be nice as the bar and resteraunt expensive for what you get. Location is good for the airport but little or no scope to venture out on foot.
Final bill was incorrect but quickly put right.
The bus service to the airport is prompt but hotel is first stop so its a long ride for what is a very short distance. Only took the bus once and for a few pounds more took cabs thereafter.
Hotel had a good offer on combined TV/Internet package.

Plumbing needs sorting

This is the second time in the last few weeks I have stayed here. And the second time they have had no hot water in the morning. The most recent no water at all in room. Yes they knocked some money off the bill, but they must get this sorted. The food is ok if you stick to Burgers and Curry. The restaurant staff are bored and make no eye contact. I get better service at Mc Donalds, avoid the Lamb its as tough as old boots.

Expensive and no atmosphere

Food was expensive for what it was. For "ding" cookery I don't want to pay what they charge. Also over £4 a pint. Online it stated that their breakfast was £5 cheaper if booked in advance. This was incorrect.
Typical airport hotel.
Room was very nice though.

Excellent Value for Money

When we initially pulled up at the hotel I thought there had been a mistake because neither myself or my husband could believe how nice it looked considering we paid so little (£65 for a night). The hotel foyer itself is very impressive and the staff are very friendly and helpful arranging a taxi and wake up call and printing boarding passes for us which was handy. The room was a good size as was the bathroom and the facilities in the room were good. We got room service which ended up costing us more than the room (!) and was very nice and arrived quickly. A recurring issue for us is small beds in hotel rooms as my husband is very tall but this one wasn't too bad. All in all I would and have recommended this hotel to friends

Pre-flight stay

Not at all bad but not wonderful. They didin't have our reservation from Late Rooms, their rate on the night was better than Late Rooms, the restaurant was packed and our request for a table didn't make it from Receptionto the restaurant some 15 yards away. However the room was good and eating in bar was acceptable (same menu as the restaurant) and less frenetic.
The car park charge of £5 is a bit of a rip off

Clean but old fashioned room - avoid drinking in Bar

Room comfortable but dated. Staff pleasant. No fridge/bar in room. Wine extremely expensive in bar - £8 a glass (ouch !)
Charge guests for parking
So what was a reasonably priced room had added 40% extra for having a car and drinking 2 glasses of wine.

Handy Stopover for Gatwick Flights

This is an excellent hotel which we have used before to stay at while we wait for our flight from Gatwick. The rooms are good quality, quiet and clean. I think yu get good value for money because of that. The 1 issue I have with this hotel is the bar prices which are extortionate. Perhaps they are catering for business men on company expenses?

Nice airport hotel

Nice employees, a little far from the airport. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. My only complaint was the lack of vegeterian meals on the 24 hour menu. We arrived late and there was only one option on the menu, and it was something I did not like, however, the helpful staff found me a muffin and some crisps.

Efficent from start to finsh

Overall from the intial booking of the hotel to the stay could not have been more professional efficent and easy. The staff member who booked it of which I spoke to a manager and told them how he handled the booking to the welcome and stay at the hotel.
I would certainly have no hesitation in booking through the company again and although I have stayed at the hotel quite a few time over the last 8 -10 years, I was very impressed.

Perfect location for Gatwick travel

We had an early morning check in at Gatwick on a Monday..................to avoid the M25 we chose to stay at Ramada the night before. The family slept very well and it took the stress out of leaving home so early in the morning. It was the best decision we made and our girls loved looking out the window of the room at all the planes, yet no noise.

Heartless airport (near Gatwick) hotel. The service was poor, dinner was very over-priced and the hotel was very noisy. No Wi-Fi, charged for car-parking and having to go a find someone to serve you in the bar or on reception wasn't impressive.

Ramada 4/2/11

Got a great deal as far as price was concerned, very nice room - ate in the restuarant which was ok food wise - restuarnat staff were very good. The only problem was check in - despite being second in the queue it took 25 mins. A large group were checking in for several rooms which happens but it took far too long for the check in staff (there was only one on duty) to call upon assistance. By the time this happened the queue was around 7-8 deep. The second member of staff admitted straight away that she did not normally work on check in and had trouble operating the system etc. In fact, she eventually passed me over to the first member of staff to complete check in as she could not finish this. There was little by the way of apology for the delay. Otherwise a good stay at an excellent LateRooms.com rate when compared to the standard tariff.

Over priced and in need of refurb, but clean at least!

For the sort of money I paid I can easily get a room at the Crowne Plaza just round the corner and the level of accommodation is world's apart. The Executive room I was in had paint peeling from the ceiling and just generally looked like it was well overdue a refurbishment. Bed felt like it was due a replacement too.
It felt more like a Premier Inn than an alleged 4* hotel, so unless you get it cheap I would rather stay in the Premier Inn next time!
Shower was cold too which wasn't the best start to the day! Reception were very apologetic to be fair, but it was too late by then.

Not a 4 star hotel experience

The Ramada Gatwick hotel was possibly the worst hotel I have stayed at. The welcome at the reception desk on arrival was almost non-existent, with no information being given about breakfast times and check-out time. Check-in was a lengthy process, worsened by the rudeness of the staff. I think it would be fair to say that I will never stay at this hotel again.

Overview of our Stay at the Ramada

With all the delays and cancellations at Gatwick we had to find accommodation for one night. We chose the Ramada based on the price. On arrival at the hotel, 10.00 am the staff were friendly and allowed us to have our room prior to the normal 2pm check in. Our room was on the 5th floor and was a little bit jaded but clean. Very good value at £73.00. The food was acceptable and prepared fresh. Taking into account that the hotel was very busy the staff coped very well.

Very good price for fairly average accommodation - bathroom was pretty dated. However, our room was clean and comfortable with everything that you need, although it was quite noisy overnight - we were on the top floor and I think the noise was caused by the hotel's heating/hot water systems. Very useful to have a shuttle bus to the airport.
