Summary
Having read so many reviews about this hotel, we were expecting a dump but the queens park hotel, was clean, inviting and helpful.
-We arrived early and left our bags before checking into the hotel later in the day
-The rooms are small, but clean
-Breakfast was selfservice and pleasant, someone was always cleaning up after everyone.
-Hotel was round the corner from a tube station and next to hyde park.
When we got there the reception area was clean and cool. However, the room wasn't of the same standard as the reception. It was tiny and very warm, though it was a very hot day which is understandable. The bathroom had no ventilation or windows so the door had to be kept open which heated up the whole room.
Breakfast in the morning was enjoyable. There was a fair amount of choice but wasn't extensive. The food was decent quality but nothing spectacular. So pretty standard overall.
The staff where Great, could not fault all three I came in contact with over my 24hours stay, thanks guys!
The rooms were a little shabby & in need off a total revamp given the cost 120.00 per night! The creaky floor boards & cracked sink were quite special. All said & done bar the cost the hotel is fine for an over night stay (just)
This hotel is ok but please note they will put a hold on your card. Mine was about four days before I was due to check in and I feel that it was way too early. They also put charges on my room for water that I never had and I had to persuade them to remove them. The other room I booked had a rentokill box in and the sound on the tv was very very quiet. The staff are OK but a better level of english would be good in a hotel in the capital. The photos of the rooms are very different to the ones we stayed in but it's OK for a one night stay.
Summary
Stayed for one night midweek. good value. clean, near tube, nice staff, No noise. will be back
Summary
Whilst the receptionist was efficient it was done in an impersonal way. I was expecting an Iron in the room, but it was not there, and the receptionist could not be bothered to get me one, and had a dismissive attitude which meant going to work the next day with a slightly creased shirt that I was not happy with. Also the TV refused to work, which was not a problem as I had work to do, but could have been annoying. The single room was very narrow I could lie widthways with head and feet both touching a wall at the same time... That said the furnishings were very good and they are clearly trying to improve the experience. Breakfast was good, with the usual variety. As a budget hotel, I would consider staying again.
Summary
Very friendly service, good rooms.
Summary
Considerably smaller room than was expected after looking at pictures on the hotel's website, with the en-suite being nothing more than a cupboard crammed with a toilet, sink and small shower. There was enough room to stand in the bathroom but then you'd have to pivot around on the spot as there is no space whatsoever. Maintenance didn't seem to be priority as 3 out of 7 bulbs were out and the tv didn't work, while the room as a whole looked like it needed a good new paint job. Comfortable enough as just a place to sleep for a night or two, but that's if you're not woken by the noisy housekeeping staff holding a social chitchat outside your room at 8.30am..
The hotel is ideally located with Hyde Park literally at the end of the street and is generally clean and friendly enough but it is not anywhere near worth the £125+ per night they seem to charge normally. Even £60 through LateRooms seemed a bit excessive but I guess thats London prices for you.
The hotel reception area was undergoing a facelift, so access was via a lobby, two doors down at no. 52. The staff coped very well and it looked like patrons were understanding. Overall staff were very polite and helpful. The accomodation was clean and tidy, with tv and coffee/tea available. The bathroom was clean and everything worked apart from the mirror light. The breakfast was excellent and we were expecting Continental Breakfast, but were pleasantly surprised to see a Full English on offer. Left baggage was available at a very low price, which allowed us to travel around London, knowing that we could return later in the day to retrieve it and leave. Thank you to all the staff for helping our stay in London very enjoyable. It does make a difference.
Summary
An excellent hotel, comfortable clean and friendly, near everything for Hyde Park etc
Only small flaw, I had, as requested on 'dietary requirements' asked for help with my gluten free diet, but nothing (ie bread or roll) was available at breakfast, however there was enough that I could eat, and I bought some bread myself for the second morning, all in all a nice hotel
Basic but clean and tidy for an overnight stop
Summary
Good hotel in central location. Ideal for quick business trips.
Room in basement was a little compact but good value for quick business trip.
Would benefit from Wifi throughout hotel and also TV was a bit small in room
Ok it is cheap for that location, and if you want somewhere to sty for one night and dont mind the cleanness that much this hotel could be ok for you.
...its very old and needs a good renovation. the bed was not comfy and the sheets and towels were so worn out and did not look clean! the shower was faulty and there were drainage problems big time. there is a tv but its more like a joke! they have tried to include all the necessary items in the room i.e. towels, hair dryer etc most of which are pretty much the crappiest quality. I prefer if they only put a bed n the room but with clean (newer looking) sheets and towels and not have bothered with anything else like a crappy tv.
I booked a twin room for 3 nights, a month before my stay and chose somewhere cheap but not the cheapest. The hotel did not look anywhere near as good as the photo. I found the staff a little rude, but didn't have much to say to them i wasn't that bothered. When i checked in i was told that they were refurbishing the restaurant area and breakfast would be delivered to my room. I was asked for a delivery time, i chose 8.30. I was kept awake most the night with numerous banging doors. The first morning i was awoken at 7.00 by a woman banging on doors and shouting BREAKFAST and at 8.30 i got my BREAKFAST. The second morning my breakfast was delivered in the same fashion at 7.20, when i questioned this i was told i hadn't requested a time, so i asked for it to be delivered at 8.30 on the third morning, but no it came at 7.15. The food wasn't great - croissants, jam, a long life yoghurt, a carton of happy shopper orange juice and a manky apple. I ate breakfast out. The good thing was the room was cleaned and the towels replaced each day. overall 4/10
Summary
Dining room not in operation at present...a bag is delivered to your room with a few items in for your breakfast...lift very small...no public area available to relax...beds hard...room very warm...noisy until 3amish...would not stay there again
Summary
Restaurant closed for renovations. Breakfast was an adequate continental one delivered to the room.
Hotel is in process of renovation. Some people might not like that. Did not affect me. My room, whilst in need of renovation, was clean, quiet and comfortable, if a little "tired".
Check-in staff member was polite, cheerful and helpful.
Our stay was a nightmare - my fiances birthday - ruined.
In total we had to try out 5 rooms before finding one that was ok - even then it threw up a shock in the morning. The main problem is the water system - shower trays blocked, showers that are cold, when they choose to work they are luke warm and keep stopping for no reason. Staff all foreign, and most could hardly speak English. Despite ordering breakfast for 1030am, we were woken just after 9am by a woman wanting to clean our room!
When we complained about our rooms we were told 'here are some keys, choose one!' and 'if you dont like it find anorther hotel'.
We were so disgusted we refused to pay.
If you want a nice stay in London, dont stay here.
We weren't sure what the accommodation would be like, seeing as it was central London and being so cheap. The hotel is in the middle of a revamp and the reception was pleasant enough, staff very friendly and helpful, lifts were a bit small but worked. The room itself was adequate, all the basics were there and the en-suite was clean, and breakfast too we could not complain, it was well worth the money and we would happily stay there again.
Summary
Pros:
- excellent location for exploring Central London, good Tube and Bus links
- Hyde Park on the doorstep is good too
- some good shops, restaurants and pubs nearby (we liked the Leinster Arms)
- nice firm bed, warm room
Cons:
- rooms very small, bathroom almost unusably so
- decor in poor state (broken mirror, paint cracked, curtain rail broken)
- breakfast was very poor
- water in shower only lukewarm
There appears to be lots of other hotels in the area, some of which look much nicer (some look worse). Will stay in Bayswater again, but will try another Hotel.
I booked a standard room with a double bed and was given a very small single room with a single bed rather like a student hostel. when i complained they accepted that I'd not been given what I'd booked but that they were full and couldn't change it. they said they'd note it for the manager and seek to offer a refund - i had to leave early the next day and 4 days later have still not heard. although the room had been cleaned it was cluttered with various 'conference freebies' left by a previous occupant - paper, tote bags, hand-wash bottle, at 10pm i told reception I'd leave it all outside my room - and it was still there when I left at 8am the next day. overall very poor - I'd never go there again.
Summary
Lift is very small
Summary
A good sized room with coffee makings and en-suite. You normally only get 2 out of 3 for the price.
Summary
Hotel very run down photos on web site very misleading
Summary
The bed moved on the wooden floor if you turn over. The room had recently been refurbished, but not all the fittings renewed. Had to ask for coat hangers and a TV remote control, TV only had 3 channels. Good value for the money,
Summary
Reception got a bit tangled up over room allocation but sorted quickly.
Pleasant non fussy no frills. Room phone didn't work, WiFi didnt work in room.
Room was very clean and comfortable. Very good budget hotel. Breakfast room too small but food was good for what it was.
Summary
Good value for money and quality
Summary
Room abit cramp for a couple with couple of suitecases. Room neat and comfy. No air-con. Need to open window when stuffy. Very convenient to shops & restaurants. Tube line very convenient to city of London.
Summary
This hotel is in a good location, consequently it is overpriced for what it delivers. The rooms are small and basic - no remote for the TV and expensive internet connection. The continental breakfast is also basic, but clearly poular given the crowded breakfast room. I will probably stay here again, only because it is in the location I need to be in and is within my budget, but otherwise there isn't a lot to recommend this place.
Summary
I've stayed at the Queens Park on business trips many times and can honestly say they have among the smallest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in, but they're well kept and clean, perfectly acceptable for a short stay, but I wouldn't want to use the hotel as my base for a week or more.
A warning to anyone of a larger build, some of the rooms have very small shower cubicles so be wary of that. Also, the lifts are a tight fit so if you suffer from claustrophobia, that could be a problem too (one lift will take 2 or 3 people but the other will only take 1 or 2 close friends at most!)
On the whole, a reasonable hotel in a nice location, but I wouldn't want to stay there more than a couple of nights at a time.
Very good location, within 2minutes walk to queensway tube (central line)
hotel reception friendly and helpful.
Room B114, was in the basement very small just room for a double bed although we only stayed one night so it was good enough. everywhere was clean. ensuite was nice.
Breakfast was- cereal, toast, crossants, fruit, tea/coffee and oj!
All in all a good hotel for the price to stay in the middle of london!
OK Hotell regarding value for money. Narrow stairs and old carpets, could not open window,
Very little and narrtow range of food for breakfast.
Nice and quiet surroundings near Kensington Garden/Hyde Park
I found it not nice that you have to pay in order to use the internet and toleave the cases. In the case of the internet. I had to look up where Portobello market is since noone in the reception knew about the market (not very well formed personnell)
Summary
Very good value for money. Hotel is a little 'tired' but is being re-furbished. Staff were very helpful and friendly, easy access to tube and Hyde Park a few minutes away. Would choose again in the future.
