Summary
When we arrived we were expecting to book into the Quality Crown Hotel and we had not been advised that the name had changed to the Mercure. Although the room we had was nice it was very small and considering I had booked a deluxe room, it was far from this. The hotel was undergoing major refurbishments during our stay and we had to share the lift (which was painfully slow and outdated) with the workmen who were carrying new beds and furniture up to the various floors. Breakfast was nice but there was no restaurant for an evening meal so we had to wander about Kensington looking for a restaurant which proved very expensive. All that said the hotel was clean and I am sure it will be excellent once the renovations have been completed.
Summary
For a 4 star hotel we were surprised there was no mini bar in the room, also the room was quite small. Comfortable though and clean, and nice decor too. The breakfast was quite average. Good location and friendly, helpful staff.
Summary
The welcome at this hotel was pleasing. the staff were friendly and pleasant at all times. the ambience is calm and you are quite at ease. rooms were spotless.
got the impression that they really wanted you to enjoy your stay. good choice for the museums which are within walking distance. not too far from anywhere to be honest. good transport links.
would definately stay there again.
Although the hotel was not very central for west end, or theatres, the No 74 bus took us direct to Hyde Park, and then No.10 to Theatre Land, It was a very clean hotel, staff friendly, and the breakfast was delicious, either full English or Continental. Check out was 11 a.m. which was most useful.
Summary
Good value and very clean with courteous staff.
Summary
I arrived an hour before normal checking-in time, but this didn't worry the receptionist at all, who got me into a room straight away. I later realised that I would be checking out an hour before breakfast began the next morning, and when I mentioned this to another member of staff, they passed a message to the kitchen, who arranged that a simple breakfast was ready while they were still preparing the main service. All this was very much appreciated.
