The hotel is close to Paddington, a plus for me. Rooms are small, clean, comfortable, and quiet, with en suite. But internet access is expensive (15GBP per day) so beware when booking. The breakfast as part of the tariff was good, and the staff very pleasant.

2 nights in London

The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.. The room was rather small. For the price we paid for 2 nights (£258) it seemed rather poky. Apart from that one negative criticism, the hotel was fine. Very handy for central London and well serviced by underground and buses

We thought the location was excellent! The room needed more outlets to plug into, and the rooms needs an alarm clock/radio.
The TV channels were limited, there were no face cloths.
The staff were extremely helpful, the location was excellent. The hotel was very clean, It was quiet on the square, the breakfast was always the same but very well prepared, the coffee hot and strong, the tea hot, the hot chocolate delicious.
We would stay there again, but we really needed a clock in the room.

Poor guest house should not have a 4 star rating ,a very bad experience, please don't try .

We booked a double room and was given a single after complaining we were told it was a small double which we had booked,we explained we would not both be able to sleep in the small, bed we were then told the hotel was full.I asked to see the manager or some one in charge and was told there was no one to complain to.Yet after saying I would give the hotel a bad review we were given a double room at 11.30 at night,by the we had had enough.Dont go

Don'y Stay Here !!

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Check in was incredibly slow, the lift is on its last legs, very slow and stops at random. The room was nice enough but at night it showed its true colours ! walls are paper thin , you can here people talking etc ! the door frame let so much light we had to try and block up the cracks with the throw on the bed , our clothes anything ! the corridor light was on all night and I couodnt see a way to turn it off. The next morning was even worse , we went down to breakfast at 8.45 to find about 30 people queuing to get into a small breakfast room that was already full. We went to check out and said that the room price included breakfast which they couldnt provide in reasonable time. They said that the breakfast was complimentary so no reduction for no breakfast. We went to a very nice italian cafe but still had to pay £20 for a breakfast that was included in the price of the hotel. Needless to say we do not recomend it and think you should take it off your books !!

Hotel Grim

Small room, one side of the bed was against a wall, the wall was so thin, could hear the couple talking, good job that was all they were doing. No room to move, tea making was fixed on the wall, as there was nowhere else to put it. Bath taps were old and we could not turn the water off, and the taps were so close to the wall you could not get your hand around it. Only one slow lift and hotel was full, long queue for breakfast, but breakfast was good !! It looked as if the room had once been a nice big one but had been made into 2 as we had only 1/2 a window. With a wide choice of hotels in London why would we stay again.

Tiny Room, great service

Maybe I'm a spoiled American, but the room was about 9x12 and didn't allow for much more than sleep and shower. On the other hand, the room was clean and luxurious. The service was incredible. The buffet style breakfast was a little disappointing, but I went to breakfast near the end, so maybe it had just sat there a while.
It's a nice place overall. If you don't plan to do more than sleep and shower in the room, it's perfect. If you need anything and have questions about the London, the staff is amazingly helpful. I'd stay there again.

The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Paddington Station so very convient for late arrivals there. It lies in a cul-de-sac off Sussex Gardens and is reasonably quiet. The room was of a high standard with a good bathroom and was a reasonable size with adequate space for your clothes. I didn't have dinner but the breakfast was good. The area is well served with a wide range of bars and restaurants within 10 minutes walk. Overall it was good value for money and I would stay there again.

Comfort with convenience of location

Impressions of Paddington being a noisy built-up area to stay were disproved when we found this hotel in a quiet square which is not only within easy walking distance from Paddington railway station but also about the same distance to Hyde Park. A leisurely stroll through the park brings you to the Albert Hall and South Kensington. Access to the West End is easy either via the Central Line or on buses from Lancaster Gate.
A comfortable room and courteous service made our stay an enjoyable experience.

Good but no Crown

Booked on LateRooms after reading decent reviews mainly because of its convenience to Paddington as we had to catch Heathrow Express early next morning. The Receptionist was very helpful as we arrived too early for check-in. We were upgraded to a 4 poster room which was lovely at no extra charge which was great.Only disappointment was the breakfast which was all pretty tasteless mainly tinned we thought. Otherwise nice location in quiet square and easy to find. Would stay again.

Excellent service, room a little small and very hot

The service at the hotel was very good and cleanliness was good. The room was very hot and had a stand alone fan on constantly and the windows open at all times (even through the night) to try and keep it cool. We had three single beds in the room and I feel it really is only big enough for two beds. Breakfast is also an adventure. The restuarant is not big enough to hold everyone and we waited for a table for half an hour on our first day. They don't have many tables of four and those in couples got in quicker than us, as a table for two became available, even though they had only just arrived for breakfast and we had been waiting for a long time. On our second morning we arrived earlier and got in much quicker. The early bird catches the breakfast! However, the service and attentiveness at the hotel was excellent and it is very well placed for visiting most of the top attractions in London.

Poor Staff Attitude

Stayed for one night on business and the experience summed up a trend of disinterested staff/management and lack of customer service which seems to be becoming more and more prevalent across the service sector.
TV in room not working, which was known to staff - said, I was happy to change rooms - but they insisted on trying to fix TV (which actually involved just coming back every 30 mins to see if it had sorted itself out!) - eventually I got fed up and asked to move rooms - ended up in a room with only single beds having specified souble room for single occupancy - no apology or urgency to serve the customer - staff completely disinterested - why didn't they just tell me that the hotel was full and that they were struggling to find another room in the first place!

Unfortunate experience

The room looked quite pleasant until we tried to go to sleep around eleven when a generator outside Room 608 on a wall started up and the whole room shook with the volume of it for an hour or so then switched off to a low hum for a further hour then started up again.. There was a brief break between 2.30 and 6 when it started up again. The hotel manager heard it and we received a full refund. No sleep barely at all and had to curtail our stay in London as we were both exhausted.

Recommendable hotel

We would definatelly use this hotel again. The foyer area is clean, pleasant and welcoming and the same can be said about the staff there! The room was very clean and attractive, but the only down side was that it was very hot. There was an electric fan in the room, so not too much of a problem.
Absolutely cannot fault the service-with-a-smile, in the dining room, and the breakfast was really first class, with lots of choice and everything fresh.
We will definately stay there again and highly recommend this hotel.

Great location but room was tiny

We thought the location of the hotel was great and although the hotel doesn't offer parking, we were able to park on the square outside the hotel for only a few pounds. We were disappointed with the size of the double room, for the money we paid we expected bigger. It was clean though and all the staff were pleasant and helpful.

How many more times?!

This is a well-positioned hotel on a lovey quiet square close to Hyde Park and Paddington, tidy and with great staff and a decent breakfast BUT for the umpteenth time this year I was kept awake by a horrendously noisy ventilation system. Not aircon this time but the bathroom extractor system which was on all the time and not just when the b/room was in use.
Sort it out. I come down the night before so that I am fresh for my early meeting. I may as well have got up at 04:30 to catch the early train and still turn up bleary-eyed!

Budget Hotel - Budget prices?

A hotel trying (but not succeeding) to punch above its weight. Clean, but with small rooms (Standard Double just about accommodates the bed) and limited facilities. . Dining room in basement is full of tables- don't take a bag down. The Staff are willing, and tried to be helpful, but were not well trained, and there was typically only one person on quite a busy reception. Wi Fi is expensive too.

Looks the part, but the room was the worst ever

The quality of the room would be about 5, 4 being mean that it was two singles pushed together. The reality, beds aside, was that while the location and the price were great the room was not restful in the slightest. Situated at the back of the hotel the room must have been above the heating/cooling system and it was noisy, loud, ruinous to any sleep and not worth a penny of the price paid.
Before booking ensure your room is not near the back. If you can't avoid this hotel. It could only be considered a 4G if the offending rooms were removed from the availability altogether. Feel robbed to have had to pay for such a terrible room.
