Not worth £69

When we arrived they tried to put us in the basement room next to the extractor fans, I don't know if it was because I booked with Late Rooms or what but, the bed only just fitted the room, the noise was terrrible and I couldn't sleep there. I asked if we could be moved to a quieter room and give them their due, they moved us to a second floor room, unfortunately it had twin beds and not a double which was a bit of a dampener.
The room overlooked a garden but the bed was jammed up against the heater which was jammed against the window so we had to close the curtains over the heater which was a bit worrying! The capet was dirty and the room looked grubby, The bed clothes were clean. The light in the bathroom was faulty and the 'TV' was so old you couldn't get many stations, I don't know where the 'satellite TV' was! When you walked down the stairs to the dining room they were carpeted with old dirty carpet, you had to be very careful not to trip on this.
The breakfast was advertised as 'Continental', I don't really like a bowl of fruit, an egg and branflakes for breakfast. As I was on holiday it would have been lovely to have an English Breakfast but as the workers and maybe owners were all foreign this may have been out on religious grounds.
Overall the impression was of a poor bed and breakfast. Visitors to our country must be disappointed by this standard, it does make you ashamed that this represents our country. Not a three star, maybe two at a push.

We stayed in a 3 single bed room and there was adequate space for us 3 girls. The room was basic but clean and good value for money. We were staying 1 night only after seeing a show in Camden and it was just what we needed. Breakfast was included, cereals, toast, boiled eggs, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and a bowl of fruit salad! but again adequate for the price

Overnight Stay in London

The location of the hotel was ideal, easy access to bus, train theatre and restuarants. The hotel was claen and tidy and the staff reasonably friendly. Our room was small but adequate , would have been improved by removing the single bed - with a double bed in the room it left little room. we had a very poor nights sleep as the guests in the room above were extremely noisy ( all night) and there was also a lot of movement throughout the night in the corridoor outside the room. Such a shame. We would use the hotel again but would insist on a room on the top floor!!!!

Not the hotel I expected.

In checking in, I requested to view room and was not pleased with the allocated room. For 4 nights the room would be cramped and would have been uncomfortable for the stay.
Back @ reception, I requested a larger room and this was granted but not much bigger than the first room. Bathroom was small and warm when having a shower and extractor fan was not suitable. Beds were made but it was notice that sheets were not changed daily. Only the towels were change.
Even though price included breakfast, I was disappointed with what was on offer. Cereals was fine, tea was fine, toast available. Juice was not was not the fresh juice type, but the fanta type of drink.
This please would be more suitable for the younger person as the rooms were small and all the rooms were suppose to be the same size. The only nice part of the hotel was the reception area, however for health and safety the booklet stall was sited on the left as you enter the hotel, so if one is standing looking at the booklets, you could be hit by the opening door as anyone coming into the hotel would not see you there.
If I go back to London again, I would only use this hotel as the very last resort.

Sparse Living!

We did make a reservation inspite of poor reviews, only because of lack of hotels during the Football final weekend! Since we expected the worst, we did survive the poor offerings. This is indeed a rundown den, with paints peeling off the walls and blankets with holes and murky corridors..As we did pay exorbitant rates, and eventhough we were hardly in the rooms, this was indeed quite a letdown.
The rooms are so small, that we did have trouble keeping our two mid sized suitcases. My wife and I needed to squeeze around the room, The bathroom is decent, but the shower is a miniature version that required gymnastic talents to wash up, and had water spilling all around.
The bathrooms were cleaned daily and we did get clean towels daily, while the sheets were not changed during our six day stay. the mattress was indeed old and lumpy and needs a change.
The breakfast is an excuse in monotony, with toast, cereal and hardboiled eggs, watered canned juices and drinks, we did get our morning fill.
The advantage is that the Bayswater underground station is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel, and Queensway is close.
The sound from outside is minimal, while walking on corridors can make quite a noise for the jet lagged sleepers! The staff were sufficiently helpful..
this is a motel which badly needs a refurbishment...

Could have been so much better

The hotel has a good location and the staff were fine in a reactive way. The wifi was out cause they didn't have the code, and it wasn't very clean. Dropped something behind the loo and found a cabinet of horrors there. Really sad because the place could have shone if it was reative and well run. And after the first breakfast we went elsewhere...

4 bed room

Generally the room was clean and warm.
Double bed was below par with missing mattress supports resulting in an uncomfortable night.
Room had been poorly converted from a double room to a 4 bed room with a mezzanine floor with 3 beds. Obviously converted without council approval for the conversion as mezzanine floor was poorly constructed and banisters were poorly secured and unsafe with inadequate headroom, unable to stand up straight when on mezzanine floor. Bathroom was very cramped but adequate.

Basic room but central LONDON

What a shame that the owners don't decorate this hotel because it could be very good. The location was only 5mins to the tube which was excellent. But the rooms needed painting/decorating and the bed blankets and covers were really filthy with horrible stains all over them and just needed washing!!! The ensuite room was adequate with water hot. The breakfast was a bonus although an odd mixture of hard boiled eggs, processed cheese, dilute orange and cereals, etc.

Fails to meet expectations

Room was very small, just enough space for double bed and a little desk. Bed cover was filthy and looked like it had never been washed. Gross. Even though we booked a double room they said our reservation was for Twin/double, so to get the only available double we ended up in the basement. Corridors at 11pm were full of screaming foreign students. Price of 75 a night is only justified by the fact they were fully booked every night... Welcome to London on a budget.

Great location, value for money accommodation!

Ideal for my overnight stay.
Only downside was the small bathroom, shower thermostat was broken and therefore unable to change the very hot water temperature. Also, to boil the kettle, I had to place the kettle on the floor due to the lack of accessible power points. These points certainly wouldn't put me off staying here again.

Perfect for what we wanted and the money we paid.

Really good value for money. (£14.50 each in a 3 bed room including breakfast) Breakfast was great and the room was fairly comfortable. The only thing I would say is that the windows let too much noise and breeze through so it was pretty cold in the morning. Bring a dressing gown! Also, there isn't a specific room for baggage hold. You just leave it near the entrance and that worried me slightly. Anyone could just pick it up with their own luggage. Overall I would definitely stay again :)

Cheap for London but don't expect the Ritz!

Staff very friendly, room was strange - we booked a double but got a 5 bedded mezzanine room, which made what could've have been a very grand room into a small hostel style room, especially as it only had one tiny bathroom between 5 prospective guests!
Room wasn't dirty but had the appearance of it as it hasn't been renovated in a while. We didn't get up for breakfast so can't comment on the food, but Queensway is only a 3-4 minute walk away so regardless you won't be stuck for somewhere to eat in this area.
Great for a one night stay or a budget 'touristy' style holiday, where you just need a bed to flop into of an evening. Cheap for the area and for London over all.

Advertised room rate was £140 but discounted to £31 on Late rooms. I'd have been happy paying up to £50 MAX for this room. If I'd paid £140 - it would be a total rip off. Clean, good location, quiet street. I paid for a single room but mine had a mezzanione floor with an extra single & a double bed. 4 in the room would have been tight squeeze once all out of bed!
Continental Breakfast was basic but acceptable for rate I paid. Would be disappointing if you'd paid more than ~£50 for the room.

I booked this hotel after viewing the website. Although you really cannot polish a turd, you can certainly spray it gold. Room was disgusting; stains on walls were accompanied by dirty cups and general awful cleanliness throughout the room. To top it all, the hotel staff were about as useful as a chocolate frying pan, and seemed to all share a complete and utter disregard for all guests. Apart form it's location, this hotel has nothing to offer but disappointment and a roof over your head. I would advise to look elsewhere.

No qualms except one

Considering how little you're paying, a fine choice; clean rooms, does just what a hotel would expect. one issue though, booking through late rooms i was told that my credit card details would not be used without my permission first, and when it came to paying it turned out that the hotel had already charged my card without consulting me first; i wanted to pay in cash as had no money on my card at the time, needless to say it pushed me overdrawn and my bank charged me for the privelidge. other than that, a very pleasant stay.

Location location location!

The negative reviews that appear here tell me that people dont understand that the location is in central London.
The rooms are good enough, clean enough and comfortable enough to make for an enjoyable visit. The location is really good, right in Bayswater, near to the tubes, walking distance to Kensington gardens, Edgeware road, etc. and the other big plus is that the hotel is in a really quiet corner of bayswater with a nice little pub around the corner.
OK, there's only hard boiled eggs and cold toast for breakfast, orange squash instead of orange juice, and no bar or restaurant, but that is typical of hotels in this price range in central London, and a small sacrifice for all the advantages and relatively low cost.
In short, you could do a lot worse for more money.

A cheap stay in Bayswater

The Pembridge Palace cartainly isn't a palace, but for under £70 in London you can't expect it to be. The hotel has certainly see better days. The room (Twin) was tiny and wasn't in good shape. The wall mount for the shower was no longer attached to the wall, so showering was fun (!) and the hole in the hardboard bath panel was evidence of neglect - The bath moved too when you got into it!
The room seemed relatively clean, although we did have dirty towels on the floor behind the door which wasn't nice, and there was only one hand towel between the two of us (we were 2 blokes sharing a room on a business trip).
Breakfast was served in a tiny room downstairs that got full very quickly and the continental breakfast was poor, and the coffee rubbish.
However, taking all of the above into consideration. The hotel is in a quiet area not far from Bayswater tube station, and the bed itself was clean and comfy resulting in a good nights sleep - which for under £70 in london can't be grumbled at!
